Staff did not ensure he had his glasses, which often went missing, as did his shoes, one time I arrived to find him wearing the wrong shoes which were 2 sizes too small for him. No effort was made to locate his shoes so he had to walk around without any for days.
His room frequently had crumbs on the floor and dirty pots with food on them left in it.
As he became incontinent I would often arrive to find him walking around the unit with urine soaked clothing and recently he was sat in the lounge with faeces all over his leg. Nails not cut and ingrained with faeces.
He liked to spend time in his room but staff made no effort to spend time with him, just left him there alone. Activities are not suitable for dementia residents.
He has now left

We were told staff could not provide personal care if a resident refused it. While I understand respecting residents' wishes, this approach is inappropriate for people with advanced dementia who lack the capacity to understand they need washing or clean clothes.
As a result, my relative was left in urine-soaked and soiled clothing on more than one occasion. We also found stale food left in his room for over 24 hours, soiled bedding, stale urine in his bin, and he developed sores under his arms due to poor personal hygiene.
The more independent floors may be excellent, but based on our experience, I could not recommend this home for anyone with advanced dementia who cannot consistently accept the care they need.

Filthy not cleaned well
Staff saw him wee in a bin and then 4 days later it was still there

We recently travelled a long way to visit a very special friend who has been in Tranby for over 6 months and can honestly say we were shocked and disgusted at how badly our friend has been treated and the state we found his room to be in on our visits!
His room, lovely and spacious, however, it certainly isn't kept clean and tidy! There was dishes left on his table, from the previous day and it certainly was in need of being wiped down! Crumbs on the floor, window sill very dirty, just a mess! The toilet was in need of being cleaned with bleach and there was dirty washing in the sink, very unhygienic!!
Bedding! The first day we visited I noticed marks on his duvet cover and the other days we went they were still there. On Friday we happened to lift his duvet and can honestly say we were absolutely disgusted at the mess it was in! It was heavily soiled with faeces and I've never seen anything like this ever!
Would not recommend this to anybody thinking it's a Care Home!!!

I am very happy with the care my mum receives in the home. The care is excellent, and the carers are lovely nothing is too much trouble. We have celebrated 2 birthdays here and have invited all the carers and residents as this is their home, and the Staff helped decorate the room as well.
All staff very helpful + lovely.
My mum continues to enjoy her time at the home. She has dementia and the staff are very helpful and compassionate. I know she is safe here which is so comforting for the family.
My husband has been cared for by the brilliant Tranby Care home for the past 16 months. Throughout that time, my family, friends and I have never failed to be profoundly moved by the compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication shown by every member of staff. They treat each resident with genuine dignity, respect, and warmth, providing not only exceptional care but also comfort and reassurance to their families. We are deeply grateful for everything they do and cannot thank them enough for the difference they have made to our lives
Tranby Park proved to be very much a home from home for my sister in law. It is set in pleasant surroundings, is light and airy. The staff are very friendly and caring. There always seems to be activities one can join in. The large lounge is excellent with views onto the grounds. We were delighted as a family to find this home and would recommend it to anyone requiring this type of facility.
All the staff are excellent and show my mum so much care and love. She recently had a fall and needs extra care they have all been great with her, in her time of extra care.
We are always striving to improve the service for our residents. If you have any further...

Today was a big day for my 91 year old mum moving into care after living alone for more than 30 years. She was both excited and nervous but is now settled in and happy. The experience for my wife and I has been outstanding; the staff, without exeption, have been superb. Every one has gone out of their way to welcome Mum and make her feel at home in her new home. What an outstanding experience. Thank you all!
We really appreciate you taking the time to write about yours and your Mum's positive experience of moving into our care home. After the upheaval of the first day it makes us so happy that your Mum is now settled and feeling at home. We understand the nervousness and apprehension when considering...
All I can say is thank you for looking after my mum during a difficult time. Tranby Park is the only place my mum will come to. Best wishes Robert
At Tranby Park Care Home - Care UK we set a high standard for ourselves, so we are very pleased to hear that your experience with us has been a positive one.
Many thanks from the Tranby Park team
I visit a friend (ex neighbour) about once a week. The settled in very quickly and praises the staff, food and support. He has privacy which he appreciates and is very happy. The staff are always helpful and make us welcome when we visit. I would recommend Tranby Park to anyone. As a retired nurses I would be happy to receive such care.
All her medical needs are well observed - and if there is any concern I am always contacted.
The monitoring is exceptional - which on my frequent visits - I often see.
The family know she is happy and content - and that's what we wanted to achieve.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your mum feels safe, happy, and well cared for with us. It's perfectly natural for it to take some time to settle, and we're glad to know that she now speaks so highly of the staff and her environment. Our teams are committed to...
Mum could not be in better hands. Tranby Park feels like a small, friendly hotel rather than a care home.
Thank you for your review, It's much appreciated. We are honoured to look after your loved one.
I have the utmost respect for the staff. Their patience and good humour is what my mum loves. She enjoys activities, food and the company. This is the best decision we ever made and are confident she is in the best hands.
Thank you for your kind words Gillian, It's lovely to hear that your mum is happy at Tranby Park and enjoying life in the home.
When our mum recently moved to Tranby Park the friendly and supportive staff made her transition to care home living as smooth as possible and the level of care is outstanding.
There's loads of activities and entertainment for residents and the home posts photos online, which is brilliant for relatives who don't live locally - it's great to see mum having a laugh with her new friends and joining in all the fun!
We've been impressed with how clean and well-kept everything is and all the facilities available, including a little shop, beauty salon, bar, several lounges, garden, rooftop terrace and even a small cinema.
The food is top quality and family & friends are welcome to eat there too. We really enjoyed the 3 course Mother's Day meal with mum on a recent visit.
In conclusion we can say that Tranby Park has exceeded our expectations at every turn and we would absolutely recommend it without hesitation.
We are very grateful to the amazing staff for looking after mum so well :o)
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We're so happy that your Mum has settled in so well & that you are happy too. I'll be sure to share your kind words with the wider teams.
Tranby Park is a beautiful environment. The staff are cheerful and helpful - some exceptionally so.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review - we truly appreciate your kind words and lovely feedback!
It is comforting to know Mum is being cared for by lovely people in beautiful surroundings, it feels like a second home for me as well.

Meet the Team (1)

My favourite part of my day at Tranby Park is my morning walk-around, when I can greet my colleagues finishing the night shift and welcome the day team. It’s a simple routine, but it sets the tone for the day and ensures we remain close as a team.
I hold NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 5 in Health and Social Care and have built my career step by step in the sector. Before joining Tranby Park, I was Deputy Home Manager in a large 84-bedded home, which gave me invaluable experience in leading teams and supporting residents. Becoming a Home Manager has been my biggest career highlight to date, and I’m proud to be in a role where I can make a real difference every day.
To do this role well, I believe it’s essential to have strong leadership and good communication skills, alongside adaptability, flexibility and the ability to build trust. For me, the most important part of being a manager is remaining approachable so that residents, relatives and colleagues always feel supported. In my role, I’m most proud of my fantastic colleagues, who work so hard to provide the highest standards of care.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, socialising, and going on holidays.
