Mum has now been resident for 6 months. The general running day to day is excellent. The staff are very professional and empathetic to mum's needs. She has had to go into hospital and staff helped to and from hospital. I would be proud to recommend anyone's aged relative, here. Well done Avon Valley.

Dad went into Avon Valley on the first of October, originally for respite so he, my brother and myself could see how he got on because of his struggles after Mum passed away in 2017 but has lived there ever since. Dad is 97 and the care he receives is second to none. All the staff and carers are always there to look after him and everyone is so friendly and helpful and keep us informed of everything. He is not the best mixer but is now mixing with people more. The staff are always there to give him a consoling cuddle when he needs one and can't do enough for him. You always get a friendly welcome when you get there to sign in. There is a lovely piano lounge where you can go for a coffee plus other rooms and also a nice garden which as yet Dad has not been out to because of the time of year. There are also activities going on morning and afternoon plus trips out. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of looking for expert care for a relative to have a look at Avon Valley. Thank you to all at Avon Valley.

I was very apprehensive about my first experience of residential care. I need not have worried about it, what a friendly place. I was introduced to others, so I would not feel alone. The staff sat with me, and I was able to make friends quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. No one said "no". Good care, nice food, lovely surroundings and I didn't want to leave. My stay gave me the boost to get over hospital care and return to my home. Thank you to everyone.

We cannot praise Avon Valley Care Home enough. Beautiful home, amazing staff.
My mother-in-law was only a resident at Avon Valley for 4 months before she sadly passed away from a stroke. She was the happiest she had been in years and loved being looked after by the fantastic people at Avon Valley.

Thank you to each and every one of you for making her last days the happiest.

My Mum has been a resident at Avon Valley now for 3 months and from the outset, she has been extremely happy. All the staff are amazing, friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble.

The meals provided are tasty, well presented and varied and in the 3 months Mum has been here she has gained 9lbs of much-needed weight.

My mother in law has been very happy here since the day she arrived. The staff, all of the staff, have made her feel very comfortable and really brought her out of herself, encouraging her to mix with other residents and join in activities, no mean feat! She is full of praise for Avon Valley and this has taken a real weight off my wife's shoulders. I cannot praise Avon Valley enough as they also make us and all her family and friends very welcome when they visit.

My mum has Alzheimers and has been here 2 months. This is a beautiful home with caring, attentive staff, from management to housekeeping, we have had a warm welcome. The food is fresh and beautifully presented. The wellbeing staff are encouraging and all the residents join in with a variety of daily activities. While visiting, which is encouraged and can be any time, we are offered refreshments and can enjoy these with my mum in a variety of sitting areas both inside and out as the balconies have lovely views and the garden is lovely. The staff and residents have welcomed my mum into what is her new extended family, the time was right and everyone deserves a home like this.

We struggled for a long time to find a suitable care home that could take both Mum (dementia) and Dad (Parkinson's). Avon Valley opened in May 19 and we enquired about places, initially for Dad and eventually for Mum, that they might be together and cared for. The home is new, hence all the excellent gradings, built and run to a very high standard. The setup from environment, to staff, to food, facilities and activities, all looks to be excellent.

Alyson Day
Alyson DayJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2019

Hello, my name is Alyson, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Avon Valley.

Joining and commissioning Avon Valley Care Home in 2019 was a dream come true. I have successful developed my staff into good ways of practice and built a team that are proud and respectful of what they do. My passion for this home comes not only from my 40 years’ experience within the healthcare sector but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, and I understand the emotional turmoil and difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person.

Prior to becoming a Home Manager, my previous roles within the sector have been Residential Service Officer, Care Assistant, Nurse Auxiliary and Deputy Manager. I have also developed my skills by achieving qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4, and also ILM.

Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. Seeing my residents smile each day brings the motivation to perform my role at the highest level.

I would best describe myself as someone who is friendly and approachable. If you would ever need assistance with anything, I will always be on hand to help. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, gardening and I can’t wait to be able to travel once restrictions are eased.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Avon Valley, strives to be the best in care, providing high-quality services whilst offering its best support to its staff member. Our home is truly unique as we offer luxurious facilities such as our beautifully landscaped gardens and cinema room. Not to forget about the stunning views of Lansdown.

I look forward to welcoming you into our loving care community.
