Our Dad has been living with dementia at Marine View for almost four months now. During our Dad's stay, his individual needs have been well catered for in terms of essential health and welfare but also with stimulation and social interaction from in house functions and days out. He has become quite
settled and calm, not only due to the beautiful uplifting interior but more importantly due to the care, understanding and dedication of the staff. We have seen how the staff react calmly and effectively in difficult situations and how they cater to his needs, such as with mobility problems etc. The staff are also encouraged to sit with the residents during mealtimes and play games (when possible), giving the place a homely feel. We, as a family, can relax with the thought that Dad is in the best possible place in his circumstances, is in good hands but we also have the benefit of a support network too.
Reply from Susan Derby, Home Relations Manager at Marine View LodgeThank you for your lovely review, and feedback for our beautiful care home, Marine View Lodge. The team are indeed excellent, it is wonderful that your father has settled in so well.
We are committed to giving our residents the very best of everything they require, from care, respect, love and attention. They are indeed our priority. We hope Dad & your family enjoy Marine View Lodge over the coming Christmas and New Year period as we will be having lots of activities and fun.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister-in-law stayed for one-month of respite care. The staff were friendly and interacted with the residents. It was a peaceful environment and everything including the decor was of a high standard. As a retired nurse who has worked in nursing homes and had a mother with vascular dementia, I would
highly recommend Marine View Lodge.
Reply from Susan Derby, Home Relations Manager at Marine View LodgeThank you for your lovely review, it is a true testament to the staff that you take great comfort with the care your sister-in-law received at Marine View Lodge when she stayed with us. It is so nice when families compliment the care and dedication concerning our staff. They are all 1st class. I will pass on your comments and compliments to all our truly wonderful team.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the day I met the manager and chose Mum’s room I felt comfortable and happy, assured that this place was the right choice. Since Mum moved in my feelings have only been reinforced and my sense of relief and reassurance that mum is now living in a place where all her needs are being met are growing
daily. Yes - this is a beautiful, bright, comfortable building. It is conveniently located next to the train station, steps away from local services and has a light, warm, welcoming feeling, but its real strength is its staff who, without exception, are warm, welcoming, friendly, calm and professional. They provide the highest standard of total nursing care to my Mum, who looks comfortable and well cared for whenever I visit. Their communication is excellent and I am informed and involved in all decisions. Their open visiting allows me to pop in when I’m passing and I feel able to stay for as little or as long a time as I can. I would highly recommend Marine View Lodge.
Reply from Ann Nolan, Home Manager at Marine View LodgeThank you for this marvellous review, it is a real pleasure to care for your mum, we are glad that you can call in and see her at any time and feel confident that your mum is safe and well cared for. Kind regards.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.611)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.611) out of 10 for Marine View Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.611 for Marine View Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.611
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marine View Lodge is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
