General Manager – Residential Care Home
As the General Manager of Rokewood Court, I lead with purpose, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. My role is to ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and truly at home. I oversee all aspects of the home’s operations—from nurturing a high-performing team to upholding the highest standards of care—so families can rest assured their loved ones are in capable, caring hands.
My Experience
With a career dedicated to care home management, I bring deep expertise in person-centred care and team leadership. I’ve worked closely with residents, families, and staff to create environments where dignity, empathy, and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. I’m passionate about developing my team, fostering a culture of kindness and professionalism, and ensuring every resident receives both the practical support and emotional connection they deserve. Helping people live fulfilling, comfortable lives isn’t just my job—it’s my calling.
About Me
Away from work, I’m a devoted family person and a lover of travel and creativity. I find joy in drawing and caring for my lively household of pets—including Simba the cat, Gonzo the tortoise, and a flock of cheerful chickens. They remind me daily of the importance of warmth, character, and connection—values I bring into the home I manage.
I qualified as a teacher in 2005, but my path changed in 2012 when I came to the UK and started working in the care sector as a care assistant. I have experience in both nursing and residential care homes which enabled me to gain more in-depth knowledge of differing care needs. I’m a great believer that no two residents are the same and that each has differing needs, desires and preferences.
I have developed through training and practice and besides being a care assistant, I have been an activity coordinator, and a team leader and I currently have over 3 years of experience as a Deputy Manager.
My biggest achievement to date has been occupying a position as Acting Manager in my previous workplace. It was a very rewarding position, full of new challenges from which I have learnt a lot and gained a good understanding of the management role in a care home which I look forward to bringing to Rokewood Court. I am currently working on my Leadership and Management level 5 Diploma, and I am using every opportunity to share my experience with the team and to get involved in our resident's care. I am very passionate about elderly and Dementia care which I aim to pass on to the rest of the team. The reason I started working with Rokewood Court and Cinnamon Care Collection is that we are all united and share the same values: passion, dedication and respect. I look forward to meeting you.
What I Do
I help families and potential residents navigate the deeply personal and often emotional journey of considering a care home for their loved ones. With empathy and professionalism, I provide guidance, answer questions, and offer reassurance during what can be an overwhelming time. I consider it a true privilege to support people through such significant life decisions.
My Experience
Before my current role, I worked at Eden Court in Battersea for Cinnamon Care Collection, where I had the opportunity to support families and residents in a care home setting, further developing my understanding of the emotional and practical considerations involved in choosing the right care environment.
Before entering the care sector, I worked as a sales consultant in luxury senior living in London. This experience helped me develop strong communication skills, a deep understanding of people’s needs during transitional life stages, and the ability to guide clients through complex, often sensitive decisions — all of which have transferred into my current role.
About me
Outside of work, I love spending time with friends and family, exploring new places, and making the most of any opportunity to travel. These moments keep me grounded and remind me why human connection is at the heart of everything I do.
I am the Administrator of the home and I deal with a variety of tasks within the home, including Recruitment, Finance, payroll and general administration tasks. I also manage and support the administration team.
My very first role after leaving school was training to be a qualified Nursery Nurse. After passing exams and working in a nursery school, I decided working with children was really not for me, so I taught myself how to type and became an office worker. I now have many years of experience working within an administration role and have previously worked in a care home for another provider. I have been working at Rokewood since 2021 and love working here and being part of a wonderful team.
I have two daughters and two grandchildren, together with a Jack Russell cross called Casper. I love reading and have been known to get through 4 books in a week. I also like to travel, my favourite destination so far being Italy. I also like listening to music whilst doing housework.
I am the Lead Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator at Rokewood Court, Kenley. I am responsible for putting together a timetable of activities and events for residents covering everything from physical, social, experimental, emotional/spiritual, creative/artistic, therapeutic and sensory activities.
I spent 37 years working as a library supervisor for the Borough of Croydon, where I managed teams at the Central Library and its 12 branches. I am a singer/songwriter/performer and have had a 35 year career performing in theatres and concert halls, having released 4 original albums of self-penned songs (all available on Spotify). I am a book author and have written and published 7 non-fiction books on everything from religion to history and biography. I am a recipient of the Diocese of Southwark’s Bishop’s Certificate and have been on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
I am married (23 years ago in Liverpool) and have girl/boy twins now age 16. I love good food and fine wine, good comedy and great music.
