My wife had 2weeks respite at herne place care home and she loved it, the staff were great, she enjoyed the activities although she is blind and has mobility issues, everyone helped her,the food was good and everyone was friendly from the manager Hadrian to the maintenance guys.The only one thing was
that she has a large bed at home but only had a single bed in the home. Many thanks.

My mum came in for a trial 2 week respite so my 94 yr Dad could get some rest. We loved the home when we came to view & staff are lovely but we felt that Mum didn't get the stimulation she gets at home. I had to ask for her to be showered or washed as she was doing this herself & not very successfully,
when I pointed this out to staff they said on her notes that she didn't like water over her head when showring - but I pointed out - they can still shower her without it going over her head. My mum just sat around like the rest with no obvious stimulation which I was disappointed about. We felt my mum would of deteriated if left in there any longer.

So pleased we were able to find this lovely place for my sister-in-law. She is currently here on respite care but will soon be a permanent resident. The home is immaculate and everyone so friendly and helpful and she is having a wonderful time joining in all the activities. The food is amazing -
all freshly prepared on site - not sure it could get any better

My Mum has been a resident at Herne Place for almost two years. She has been diagnosed with Dementia and is unable to live independently. The care that she has received has been outstanding. Every
member of staff is caring and she is always treated with great respect.. I have absolute confidence that
she is warm, safe, cared for and very well fed! I have recently had to sell her property and it has taken a great amount of time and effort. The admin staff have really supported me during this difficult time and have not put me under any pressure at all. They are exceptional and generous with their time. Moving Mum into Herne Place was a huge thing for our family but it was definitely the right thing to do and she is very happy.

My mother has been a resident for almost 4 years at Herne Place. I can honestly say that she is happy and has built close relationships with the staff at all levels there. I was fearful and sad in the beginning, especially after losing my Dad, but looking back over these last few years, it has been
the best choice for my Mum. She is well cared for, spoken and treated with dignity, and has a special bond with many of the staff. They lift her days. Her daily needs are taken care of, her room is always beautifully clean, lovely food freshly prepared throughout the day, lots of activities and more tea than you can imagine. My mum's frequent request. The teams all function well for an overall positive result. Many thanks to those who do go the extra mile.

Making a memory:
A few of the family were visiting mum at Herne Place. Thank you to the reception staff who suggested a group family photo in the loung - with there assistance the experiance bought lots of cuddles and created lots of laughs, we have 14 lovely photos to mark the visit which the family
are overwhelmed with.

When Mum went into respite at Barcheste Herne Place Care Home it was only supposed to be for 2 weeks. The care from each and every member of staff has been exceptional, you really feel like part of a big family and the rooms can be made to feel very homely. I cannot fault the love and care my mum has

My friend has been at Barchester Herne Place Care Home since March 2024. However, due to her dementia getting worse, she has had to move into nursing care. I cannot fault Herne Place, they have tried during the last two months to look after my friend but it has become too difficult. All members of staff
give 100%. Even though my friend has only been in Herne Place for nine months, she has been well cared for. It's a shame my friend has had to be moved as she seemed to like it at Herne Place.

This is a wonderful, brand-new facility. The staff are very professional and positive and helpful. Rooms are brilliant. Care is excellent. My brother has Parkinson's and requires a lot of help and mobility. Good balance of activities and room rest. Good crew. Food, meals and menu are top-class. We had
Sunday roast with him and daily coffee and biscuits on entry. Such a modern, artsy building. Loved the bright colours and art. Prices high but comparable to others. I highly recommend Barchester Herne Place Care Home.

The care home itself is amazing. Very clean and new. The activities and food are amazing.
The front desk coordinator, the activities organisers and care team are all amazing.
Our major issue is that your care team ( in green) are too short-staffed! Please hire more care team workers, especially on
the residential floor (promenade).
We suggest having a care team manager to help organise care needed.
We were always able to speak with a front desk coordinator yet we were sent to find "anyone in a green uniform" for help with care needed.
Unfortunately, there were only two on our floor and if they got caught up in a resident's room it could be over a half hour to speak with them because it is not appropriate for us to go into someone else's room to connect with them and ask for non-urgent assistance.
Therefore, either a "floating carer" that the front desk can contact right away with a care request or a "readily available" care team manager to manage care needs would be helpful. Thank you.

This care home and all the staff, from carers to reception to admin, housekeeping and beyond, have wildly surpassed all my expectations and given me a peace of mind I no longer thought possible.
The care my mum receives is second to none and just seeing her content and safe and knowing she is so well
cared for is priceless. The transition from her own home to becoming a resident was one I had dreaded for so long but at every level, the staff have been magnificent. I will never be able to thank Barchester Herne Place Care Home enough.

My mum has just become a resident here after the passing of my dad. Everyone has been amazing, from the time we came through the doors nothing was too much for anyone, everyone talks to my mum and is kind and caring. It's a family community and I can rest knowing she is being cared for. The rooms are

Mum has been in Herne Place Care Home since November 2021. She is very happy here making lots of friends. Her room is beautiful, just like a hotel, the food is excellent, and it is also nice to be able to make ourselves a drink and have a slice of cake when visiting. It has given my sister and myself
peace of mind knowing she is safe and well cared for. I know that Dad would be happy that Mum is here. Thank you so much to the manager and staff for all your hard work, it is greatly appreciated.

My name is Hadrian, and I am the General Manager at Rose Water Place.


I am extremely passionate about the care we provide to our residents here at Herne Place, as well as their loved ones. Our team delivers dedicated person-centred care within a luxury environment and ensures that every opportunity to “Celebrate and Enrich Life” is taken with both hands here.


From our personalised life enrichment to restaurant-style dining, we are here to meet our residents’ every need.


I am a dedicated registered adult nurse with experience in a variety of settings in Barchester Healthcare and the NHS. I have followed my heart into Care Homes after caring for my grandmother with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia many years ago. These experiences have allowed me to grow into a leader of our community dedicated to providing person-centred care and living to ensure that quality is always the priority.

Hi My name is Kelly Aves


I am South London born and moved to Herne Bay in 2009 to be closer to my parents.


I joined Herne Place Care Home as the Home Administrator in May 2023 after working within the NHS for 16 + years, as a Practice manager/Finance Manager for Saddleton Road & Seasalter Surgery, then as the Estates Manager for Whitstable Medical Practice when the two practices merged in 2018.


I have done mixed martial arts since I was 3, studying Karate, Kick Boxing & Muay Thai. I enjoy a variety of different activities such as dance, cooking and arts & crafts with my children.


My role within Herne Place is a varied one as I deal with all home administration, payroll and a wide range of other duties, I support all teams within the home and not one day is the same. My role brings me close to my community and I love my day-to-day interaction with every single resident within the home.


I look forward to many more years within the home.

I joined Barchester in September 2023 after 30 years working in London, 27 of which were for an International Bank.


My role as a Receptionist/Administration Assistant at Herne Place brings something new every single day and I thoroughly enjoy the variety. From greeting our visitors, to getting acquainted with our lovely residents and their families, to helping out with any number of enquiries; an excellent standard of customer service, plus a combination of professional and sincerely dedicated care are essential skills.


I am responsible for a broad range of admin tasks but it is most definitely the people I have the pleasure to engage with that are first and foremost the most important and rewarding aspect of what I do. There is a genuinely homely feeling here which I am delighted to be a part of.

My experience and knowledge have led me to work at Barchester Healthcare where I enjoy getting to know the residents while ensuring they live in a happy and safe home.

I have been working in the Home since 2021 and I enjoy all aspects of my job especially interacting with the residents and making them happy.


Seeing the before and after of our cleaning jobs gives me a sense of accomplishment, knowing that the work I do builds joy and satisfaction into the lives of our residents which is deeply rewarding.

Hi my name is Susan and i am a community Lead at Herne Place.
Before moving to Kent from London I worked in Billingsgate fish market as office manager. In 1998 I moved to Kent and cared for my father-in-law who was living with vascular dementia. After he passed i realised that I wanted to continue in care first as a community healthcare assistant then in residential homes where i achieved NVQ's levels 2, 3 and lastly level 5 leadership for health and social care I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2022 as a senior carer then progressed to community lead . No two days are the same and I love the work I do which is caring and giving my best for those in our care. When I'm not in the home I enjoy staying in my caravan and having my family around me.

Since then I have made big changes to my career starting as a carer, Barchester has enabled and encouraged myself to develop through studying for my level 3 nvq in adult social care to become a senior and now a community lead for Windmill terrace.
I am very passionate and caring and always makes sure the residents are cared for and receiving the best possible care.

Dhanish brings a wealth of experience and a heart for meaningful engagement to his role as Activities Coordinator at Herne Place. A qualified dentist in his home country, Dhanish discovered a calling beyond clinical work — helping older people live each day with purpose, connection, and joy.
He spent several years working at another Barchester care home before moving to a hospital environment, where he supported acutely ill individuals in finding comfort and dignity during their stays.
