My mum has been a resident at Dora Rose for the last eighteen months, and I cannot fault the exemplary care she receives. All staff, no matter their role, are friendly, professional and caring. The nursing staff and carers are excellent. They know Mum well and are never too busy to chat with her or
to help her to be more comfortable. The manager is friendly, approachable and visible around the home.
Activities at Dora Rose are second to none. There is always something happening, such as singers, arts and crafts, animal visits, talks, mental stimulation games and many other events on a daily basis. The accommodation is excellent. Mum’s room is always clean and tidy and has all the facilities she needs to keep her comfortable.
Mum loves it here. She often comments on how good the staff are, how delicious the food is and how happy the activities make her feel. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Dora Rose at Milford.

My aunty has been in Dora Rose for just over 12 months and I would highly recommend it to anyone. From the moment you step through the doors, you are made to feel welcome by the reception. The care and support from the nurses, care assistants and even the cleaning and laundry staff is fantastic. My
aunty has been put on a soft diet for medical reasons which she does find hard at times as she can't eat what everyone else is eating, but the kitchen staff are amazing and will make something she can enjoy. The activities team, well what can I say, they go above and beyond and work so hard to put on lots of entertainment for the residents from live shows, bingo, trips out and animal visits you only have to look at the faces of the residents and how much they enjoy them so thank you.

Dora Rose provides a safe and caring environment for my dad. My dad’s room has everything he needs and is kept very clean and tidy. But more important is the great quality of care that my dad experiences and this is all down to the staff. The staff are patient, kind and thoughtful. The family appreciate
how they have got to know my dad and know what works best to keep him upbeat and engaged. What is exceptional about Dora Rose is the excellent range of activities and experiences on offer for the residents. Live music, all kinds of animals to pat or stroke, magic shows, crafts, Morris dancers and visits from the vicar are just some of the many opportunities on offer. Brilliant! The dedication to enriching the lives of the residents in this way is impressive and very much appreciated!

All the staff at Dora Rose have gone above and beyond to provide excellent care for my mum. In fact, they provide so much more than care - they provide her with a fulfilling life and dignity. I am constantly blown away with the facilities, events and support given to my mum, but also to me and my family.
Dora Rose really feels like a community. Other than back at home, there is nowhere else I would rather my mum was.

Our dad on one occasion was forgotten about at meal times, only when I flagged it up as I happened to be visiting at that time were any staff aware that they had forgotten him, their solution was to bring him cold food that should have been served hot.
After our dad sadly passed away we received two
separate emails asking if our dad wanted to take part in certain activities, this was deeply distressing as dad had not long passed away. I notified reception of the email and was assured this wouldn’t happen again. In my opinion, it shouldn’t have happened at all.
Unfortunately, we then received a second email asking about participation of activities.
As a grieving family, this was unacceptable and I cannot believe a company that is in this field doesn’t have a procedure in place to prevent this happening.

The care at Dora Rose is overall good. My nan seems comfortable and happy there. They put on good entertainment for the residents and provide different opportunities for families to get involved. My only concern is staffing at times and feel residents can be left to long unattended when they may need
help. This isn't a problem with the current staff as they are all lovely but I do feel they need more staff for the money that is being paid by residents for their care.

I feel Dora Rose have made good improvements over the last two years of my dad staying at Dora Rose.
It was quite a rocky start with poor management and staff management but this has improved.
Areas to improve still are communication around health and wellness on a more regular basis. Being provided
more transparent feedback on changes in my father's state however regular it may be, does require improvement.
Greater assistance with understanding areas of how to gain government support. It feels as though this is skimmed over easily and not properly supported. The cost of this care home is by no means cheap and feels that there is no effort made to assist us with how to gain government support.
The facilities and resident entertainment are exceptional.

Our mum was going through a difficult time. Despite my sister, myself and friends visiting her, it became very obvious she needed 24 hour care/support. Every time we see her we ask her if everything is okay and she is happy, "No complaints" has always been mums reply.
From our point of view, the home
is always spotlessly clean. Mum is eating well and her choices are always catered for. Drinks and snacks are always available. Mum is supported with all of her personal hygiene and care needs. Activities are planned and occur every day. Staff are so caring and lovely people as individuals. Grounds are beautifully maintained and the surroundings are delightful. We have never had a reason to complain. However, any concerns be it medical or personal to mum are addressed quickly and politely. Feedback to us is always timely. We are always made to feel very welcome.

Awful. Many staff members are great and do a good job, however management, senior staff and owners showed very little care and compassion which is unfortunate for the staff members that genuinely care.

My dad has been at Dora Rose Care home since May 2022. After spending a month in the hospital, he asked me to look for some respite for him. It was recommended that I visit Dora Rose and have a look around. My first correspondence was with a lovely receptionist who made me an appointment. She was so
easy to talk to and very reassuring. I was shown around by a lovely male nurse, who answered all my questions and was very thorough. I just knew that Dora Rose was the place for my dad, and two weeks after his settling in, he asked if he could stay permanently. In nine months since he arrived his and my experience has been amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of Dora Rose from the management, admin, reception, maintenance, kitchen, laundry, cleaning, activities and care team they are all worth their weight in gold. Everyone goes above and beyond in all areas, which for me living two hours away means peace of mind. The care my dad is receiving is exceptional. Well done everyone.

Can't rate Dora Rose highly enough. My Mum moved here after receiving appalling care from another care home. The difference was apparent immediately. The home is stunning, just like a 5* hotel. It's always clean, smells fresh and you always receive a warm welcome from the reception staff. Mum requires
a lot of care after being involved in an RTA, she has dementia and doesn't communicate verbally. The staff are incredible with her, she loves them all. They are caring and patient with her. There is always plenty going on, the activities team provide a very extensive list of tasks for the residents to get involved with. Also, there is a lot of events that family members can attend or share with their relative. There are regular family meetings, where concerns can be aired and are dealt with immediately. The Manager makes herself available whenever the need arises. She is approachable and; professional. I can't fault Dora on any aspect. It's where I would like to be myself if the need arose.

I reviewed and visited lots of care homes searching for a place that I felt my mum deserved. Nobody prepares you for this aspect of life and although you know it might happen one day it has been the most challenging and saddest time to come to terms with. From day one, everyone at Dora Rose from receptionist,
nurses, cleaners through to Manager, they have all been so helpful and kind making time for the conversations that matter to you which could be about worries about funding or just by helping you feel you're not on your own. It's not just about finding a home, it's about finding a home that cares about what you feel and think. We didn't think my mum would settle but she has and this was because of the Dora Rose nurses that took the time to make that difference in my mum's day and that mattered so much to us all. Early days yet, but I think we made the right choice for my mum.

After having a spell in hospital mum needed 24-hour care, Dora Rose was recommended to us and she went there in November 2022 originally for respite care but after being there for a week or so it was obvious that she needed care full time. She started off in the chase suite (nursing) where she was looked
after really well give or take a few hiccups along the way but with perseverance from us and the staff she started to improve and has just recently been moved up onto the Shugborough suite (residential) where she has continued to improve and is happy and settled. I cannot thank all the staff involved with mum's care enough. They go above and beyond to make sure her needs are met and nothing is too much trouble. I wouldn't want mum to be anywhere else. The staff at Dora Rose are really kind, caring and friendly. It astonished me how quickly they learned my name. Recently mum was feeling a bit down, and amongst other things, she said she was a bit unhappy because for medical reasons she had to be on a soft diet. The activities officers cheered her
up that afternoon with chat and cappuccino and the very next day the chef came to see her and asked her what her favourite foods were. This is typical of the attentiveness of the whole team. A week ago one of the carers came in on her day off and whilst there she popped in to show Mum her new puppy because mum loves dogs, and today the Receptionist promised to bring her dog in on her day off too! I am so grateful to all the staff at Dora Rose, you are so kind and caring, and bring a smile to Mum's face, thank you all so much for going above and beyond.

In our experience Dora Rose Care Home is an excellent facility, in fact, it is certainly home to our mum. The receptionists, care staff, nurses, and Activities Team (well done the team are amazing) are all helpful, kind, patient, committed, and happy to address questions, concerns, and queries. Our
mum has improved whilst being at Dora Rose and tells us that she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. There are many activities, shows, quizzes, crafts, events, and films, all of which mum participates in, and we can join in, or go to mum's room, or another lounge, if we prefer. Mum enjoys the food, we love how the residents have proper, sit-down meals, at tables, with one another, it is more like a dining experience. Recently, the Activities Team did a Name That Tune quiz, on Shugborough, that brought the house down and always puts on great events for the residents, and mum loves that the vicar visits and gives services and communion, in the reception/lounge area. Two other members of staff in particular are angels.

My husband came to stay at Dora Rose on February 22, following a long spell in various hospitals.
Initially, he stayed in his room all the time, but over the months, he has started to take part in activities, especially music events. The staff have been wonderful in talking to him and encouraging him
to take part in the life of Dora Rose. This has made such a positive difference to him, and he is a happier person.
At the beginning of December, he celebrated his 80th Birthday.
The activities staff arranged a small party for him to be able to celebrate with friends and family. The catering staff did an afternoon tea for us, and the chef made a wonderful birthday cake. Grateful thanks to everyone involved; it made a happy day even more special. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
We are so lucky to have found Dora Rose; the staff, from reception to nursing staff (and others in between) are so kind and friendly to us all, and nothing is too much trouble if we need help or advice.

My husband is looked after extremely well. The staff are friendly and kind. Food has improved with the appointment of better catering staff and the activities team is outstanding. The family enjoy visiting as the reception is comfortable and welcoming. The reception staff are very helpful and kind.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews.   3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m Julie, and I live in Tamworth. I am the owner of a 15-year-old tortie cat, Chrystal. She was a rescue cat at 6 months old. I love animals, and due to this, I am heavily involved in fundraising for a local animal rescue charity. I help organise fundraising events, support with cat homing visits and help with the transportation of donations to various local animal charities.

I was a holiday rep with Thomas Cook for 10 years. I have worked in many countries across the Mediterranean, Spain, Italy and Greece, to name a few. I have done a variety of roles working abroad, everything from looking after children in a kids club to taking adults on a bar crawl and meet/greet at the airport. This was a job I loved, as every 6-8 months I could change destination, and it inspired my love of travelling. Now that I live back in the UK, I look forward to my holidays and always look for new experiences or new destinations.

I have worked in the care industry for the last 15 years. I started in Domiciliary care before going to work at Good Hope Hospital for 9 years. I worked in a variety of departments, which I loved and learnt so much. I have since worked in areas involving Challenging behaviour, mental health and specialist Dementia nursing homes.

I am proud to be working at Macc Care and looking forward to the new challenges ahead, as well as meeting loads more new people.
