My mother's at the Dora Rose now and my father was there for his last 3 months in 2024. We had to rapidly learn about care homes in 2024, reviewed several and visited a few. We shed a tear when our parents got a place. It's always very clean. It's spacious and on Cannock Chase so good views / opportunities for fresh air. The staff/resident ratio is very good, it has a nursing care floor as well as residential and dementia floors, the activities are simply incredible, and the quality of the staff, staff management, and their processes is first rate. Staff are friendly, motivated, know all the residents and genuinely care for them, whether that's safeguarding, nursing or entertaining. My mother is genuinely happy there, often dancing, enjoying visits from pantos and characters, boat trips and more. We know we're very fortunate to afford it, it's definitely in the higher cost bracket. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your review, and your kind words, it's always a pleasure that our residents and family members our happy with service provided. The management and staff teams take pride in knowing residents and families likes and dislikes and continue to support a happy and fulfilled life.
My 84 year old father has been a resident at Dora Rose care home for almost 4 years and says he is really happy there. He is bed-bound and has difficulties with his memory. The Activities team have made a considerable difference to him and he now has some enjoyment in life. The Activities team has frequently arranged for video calls, so that we can share family news and mark occasions. His quiet presence during these calls allows us to see that my father is in a comfortable, caring environment.
The Activities Manager has a connection to my father and spends time with him to make his life better. For example, he arranged for the purchase of an internet speaker, so that dad could listen to some of the music from his past. He also recently made contact with a cousin of dad's and facilitated a telephone call so that they could catch up after many years. All in all, I get the impression that the Activities team take the time; put in the effort to help residents enjoy life in care as much as is possible.
I have always found Dora Rose very respectful towards mum. The staff are kind and there are plenty of activities which they include mum in. She is well cared for in a homely environment. I believe the food to be of a good standard and the home appears clean and tidy.
Thanks for your review its a pleasure taking care of your mum
To the Activities Co-ordinator, I just wanted to say thank you for all you did to support mum. Everything that you do and organise at Dora Rose, along with your team, is amazing and the residents as well as the management team are very lucky to have you. We have not seen anywhere else offer the range of activities that you arrange and organise. You should be very proud of all your hard work. To all the carers, thank you for your kind, compassionate and genuine support during the time mum was living at Dora Rose, she was very well looked after and treated with dignity throughout her stay.
Many thanks for your review, the activities team do go above and beyond to ensure a varied program, I will pass your thanks on to all of the care and nursing, and again many thanks for your kind words and positive review.
The entire staff is wonderful! The receptionists were kind and caring offering 100% help. During a tour by the manager to see if my sister would like to stay at Dora Rose, my sister's daughter, two sons and most importantly my sister would be staying at Dora Rose (if she would like to) were shown everywhere. We met the Matron/Head Nurse of the area where my sister would be staying, the room reserved for her is lovely with a private wet room. We met carers who took us to the spacious dining room and the other areas. We met the entertainment co-ordinator and staff who looked after us and gave us programmes of forthcome events. After a tour of Dora Rose during a cup of tea and biscuits my sister decided she would like to stay, and has been looked after wonderfully by the Head Nurse and her team. The meals are excellent, laundry service. Everything is top-class. Amazing entertainment. Dora Rose is situated on a very beautiful site the building is modern and new the gardens are lovely. I would be happy to live there myself. Customer satisfaction 20/10 Top Class.
Thank you for your comments and 5-star review. We are happy you are pleased with the care being provided.
On Saturday evening there was a cheese and wine party with singers to entertain those present. The catering staff produced a buffet which wanted for nothing, a large variety of cheeses, biscuits, crackers, some fruit all stylishly presented in a tempting setting.
The singer(s) were an act who has appeared at Dora Rose on many previous occasions and was back by popular demand and entertained the audience with a selection of popular songs which were well received.
Sunday afternoon was another success with dozens of residents and visitors sat in the nicely presented and extensive gardens entertained by a local Christian charity band playing cheerful tunes to match the happy atmosphere and fine weather.
The weekend really has to be a feather in the activities team hat.
Such a lovely place for my sister, cannot find fault at all everybody is so kind. Thank you all.
Thank you for your 5 star review and kind comments.
Have visited this lovely home for the last 2 years weekly. What a wonderful place! The cleanliness presentation and ambiance are just lovely to walk into. The staff are courteous friendly and welcoming. My sister is cared for safe and happy what more could you ask for? The social team work very hard to entertain everyone!
Thank you for your 5-star review and lovely comments, they will be shared with the team.
My neighbour resided at Dora Rose Care Home from October 2023 to the date of his death on 23/04/24. The staff were always supportive of him and myself. It was a privilege to be part of his care. He was so happy there. The staff cared for him till his end. Lovely setting on Cannock Chase - my neighbour's home area for 96 years.
Thank you for your review and lovely comments. I am so glad to hear you were pleased with the support received during his time at Dora Rose.
It was with a heavy heart that we made the decision to move mum into a care home as she was strongly opposed - mum has now been at Dora Rose for 3 months and we have seen her well-being generally improve - she is very well cared for and seems to have settled really well despite our worries - the staff have been truly amazing - they have got to know her likes and dislikes and how to make her life more comfortable - one of the reasons we settled on Dora Rose was to allow mum to make the most of social activities and I have to say how impressed I am with the range and frequency of different things going on. The team manages to secure some really great engaging activities and I can see that mum is really benefiting - mum particularly likes music-based activities and also gardening and she is getting lots of opportunities to do both of these. Recently we noticed mum not enjoying her food and after mentioning this to the team an alternative diet has been arranged - Thank you!
Thank you for your kind comments, we are pleased to hear how well mum has settled into her life at Dora Rose
We checked our 88-year-old mum in for a 4-week respite care break yesterday, as she has been struggling since a fall and leg infection. Our experience, which started several weeks ago when we connected MACC Care, the parent company to Dora Rose, has been extremely positive. They have been so kind and compassionate and have helped us to navigate our first experience of nursing care. They organised a visit for my brother and I and we were immediately impressed with the quality of the home and the team. We looked at a number of other options but for us Dora Rose stood out. Then yesterday the way in which the team made our mum so welcome and the efficiency with which they handled Mum's arrival and settling in was just perfect!
Thank you for your kind comments, we are so happy you chose Dora Rose and that Mum is settling in well with us.
I love visiting Dora Rose it has an excellent staff team who always go above and beyond to help and support the residents. During my recent visit, I noted staff supporting residents to and from the event and also supporting residents with their needs during the event. Staff were very caring and encouraging. To ensure residents were able to enjoy the entertainment to its fullest.
The activities team had thought of everything to make the activity as entertaining and comfortable as possible.
Thank you for your kind comments and your on going support.
We would highly recommend Dora Rose, to any family trying to find the ‘right accommodation’ for their loved one.
Thank you for your 5-star review and kind comments which will be shared with the team. Thank you for choosing Dora Rose.
Activities at Dora Rose are second to none. There is always something happening, such as singers, arts and crafts, animal visits, talks, mental stimulation games and many other events on a daily basis. The accommodation is excellent. Mum’s room is always clean and tidy and has all the facilities she needs to keep her comfortable.
Mum loves it here. She often comments on how good the staff are, how delicious the food is and how happy the activities make her feel. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Dora Rose at Milford.
Thank you for your five-star review and kind comments about the home. It is a pleasure to care for your mum, and we are very pleased that she is happy here.
My aunty has been in Dora Rose for just over 12 months and I would highly recommend it to anyone. From the moment you step through the doors, you are made to feel welcome by the reception. The care and support from the nurses, care assistants and even the cleaning and laundry staff is fantastic. My aunty has been put on a soft diet for medical reasons which she does find hard at times as she can't eat what everyone else is eating, but the kitchen staff are amazing and will make something she can enjoy. The activities team, well what can I say, they go above and beyond and work so hard to put on lots of entertainment for the residents from live shows, bingo, trips out and animal visits you only have to look at the faces of the residents and how much they enjoy them so thank you.
Thank you so much for your 5-star review and your kind comments that will be shared with the team.
An absolutely lovely home, in a wonderful location (bordering Cannock Chase). Premium care that the family really values.
Dora Rose provides a safe and caring environment for my dad. My dad’s room has everything he needs and is kept very clean and tidy. But more important is the great quality of care that my dad experiences and this is all down to the staff. The staff are patient, kind and thoughtful. The family appreciate how they have got to know my dad and know what works best to keep him upbeat and engaged. What is exceptional about Dora Rose is the excellent range of activities and experiences on offer for the residents. Live music, all kinds of animals to pat or stroke, magic shows, crafts, Morris dancers and visits from the vicar are just some of the many opportunities on offer. Brilliant! The dedication to enriching the lives of the residents in this way is impressive and very much appreciated!
Thank you for your 5-star review and the lovely feedback. We are so pleased you are happy with the care your father receives and the service we provide.
All the staff at Dora Rose have gone above and beyond to provide excellent care for my mum. In fact, they provide so much more than care - they provide her with a fulfilling life and dignity. I am constantly blown away with the facilities, events and support given to my mum, but also to me and my family. Dora Rose really feels like a community. Other than back at home, there is nowhere else I would rather my mum was.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and you're lovely kind words. We are so delighted how pleased you are with the excellent care and all the support provided to mum and your family.
After our dad sadly passed away we received two separate emails asking if our dad wanted to take part in certain activities, this was deeply distressing as dad had not long passed away. I notified reception of the email and was assured this wouldn’t happen again. In my opinion, it shouldn’t have happened at all.
Unfortunately, we then received a second email asking about participation of activities.
As a grieving family, this was unacceptable and I cannot believe a company that is in this field doesn’t have a procedure in place to prevent this happening.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Firstly, please accept our sincerest condolences for your loss. We are extremely sorry to hear that your experience at Dora Rose has not been our normal 5* service. Our understanding is, your concerns were shared with the Manager so apologies that...
The staff at Dora Rose do a wonderful job. Residents always seem well looked after and a range of activities are provided by the activities staff. The home is in a beautiful location and is well looked after. A lovely home to visit.
Thank you for your review of Dora Rose, and for your kind comments. We are pleased to hear you enjoy your visits here.
