Can't rate Dora Rose highly enough. My Mum moved here after receiving appalling care from another care home. The difference was apparent immediately. The home is stunning, just like a 5* hotel. It's always clean, smells fresh and you always receive a warm welcome from the reception staff. Mum requires
a lot of care after being involved in an RTA, she has dementia and doesn't communicate verbally. The staff are incredible with her, she loves them all. They are caring and patient with her. There is always plenty going on, the activities team provide a very extensive list of tasks for the residents to get involved with. Also, there is a lot of events that family members can attend or share with their relative. There are regular family meetings, where concerns can be aired and are dealt with immediately. The Manager makes herself available whenever the need arises. She is approachable and; professional. I can't fault Dora on any aspect. It's where I would like to be myself if the need arose.

I reviewed and visited lots of care homes searching for a place that I felt my mum deserved. Nobody prepares you for this aspect of life and although you know it might happen one day it has been the most challenging and saddest time to come to terms with. From day one, everyone at Dora Rose from receptionist,
nurses, cleaners through to Manager, they have all been so helpful and kind making time for the conversations that matter to you which could be about worries about funding or just by helping you feel you're not on your own. It's not just about finding a home, it's about finding a home that cares about what you feel and think. We didn't think my mum would settle but she has and this was because of the Dora Rose nurses that took the time to make that difference in my mum's day and that mattered so much to us all. Early days yet, but I think we made the right choice for my mum.

After having a spell in hospital mum needed 24-hour care, Dora Rose was recommended to us and she went there in November 2022 originally for respite care but after being there for a week or so it was obvious that she needed care full time. She started off in the chase suite (nursing) where she was looked
after really well give or take a few hiccups along the way but with perseverance from us and the staff she started to improve and has just recently been moved up onto the Shugborough suite (residential) where she has continued to improve and is happy and settled. I cannot thank all the staff involved with mum's care enough. They go above and beyond to make sure her needs are met and nothing is too much trouble. I wouldn't want mum to be anywhere else. Thank you to you all.

The staff at Dora Rose are really kind, caring and friendly. It astonished me how quickly they learned my name. Recently mum was feeling a bit down, and amongst other things, she said she was a bit unhappy because for medical reasons she had to be on a soft diet. The activities officers cheered her
up that afternoon with chat and cappuccino and the very next day the chef came to see her and asked her what her favourite foods were. This is typical of the attentiveness of the whole team. A week ago one of the carers came in on her day off and whilst there she popped in to show Mum her new puppy because mum loves dogs, and today the Receptionist promised to bring her dog in on her day off too! I am so grateful to all the staff at Dora Rose, you are so kind and caring, and bring a smile to Mum's face, thank you all so much for going above and beyond.

In our experience Dora Rose Care Home is an excellent facility, in fact, it is certainly home to our mum. The receptionists, care staff, nurses, and Activities Team (well done the team are amazing) are all helpful, kind, patient, committed, and happy to address questions, concerns, and queries. Our
mum has improved whilst being at Dora Rose and tells us that she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. There are many activities, shows, quizzes, crafts, events, and films, all of which mum participates in, and we can join in, or go to mum's room, or another lounge, if we prefer. Mum enjoys the food, we love how the residents have proper, sit-down meals, at tables, with one another, it is more like a dining experience. Recently, the Activities Team did a Name That Tune quiz, on Shugborough, that brought the house down and always puts on great events for the residents, and mum loves that the vicar visits and gives services and communion, in the reception/lounge area. Two other members of staff in particular are angels.

My husband came to stay at Dora Rose on February 22, following a long spell in various hospitals.
Initially, he stayed in his room all the time, but over the months, he has started to take part in activities, especially music events. The staff have been wonderful in talking to him and encouraging him
to take part in the life of Dora Rose. This has made such a positive difference to him, and he is a happier person.
At the beginning of December, he celebrated his 80th Birthday.
The activities staff arranged a small party for him to be able to celebrate with friends and family. The catering staff did an afternoon tea for us, and the chef made a wonderful birthday cake. Grateful thanks to everyone involved; it made a happy day even more special. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
We are so lucky to have found Dora Rose; the staff, from reception to nursing staff (and others in between) are so kind and friendly to us all, and nothing is too much trouble if we need help or advice.

My nan has been at Dora Rose for a few years now. Amazing staff, that are very friendly. The entertainment and care they provide for the residents is out of this world. It's almost a two-hour journey to come see my nan and I would not want her anywhere else. She is happy and settled here unlike anywhere
she has been previously. Thanks for all you do for my nan.

Initially, we were very concerned about Dad (92) having dementia and settling into Dora Rose one week after losing his wife. In the beginning, he had difficulty engaging with other residents and joining in with activities, even though he is a very social person.
The activities team have gone beyond
what we hoped for, helping Dad to make new friends and try a diverse range of activities. He may not remember, for example, that he won at Bingo or painted a pumpkin, but thankfully, they put photos on the Dora Rose Facebook page so all the family can see how happy Dad is and ask him about it on our next visit and show him the photos to remind him.
All the team are extremely enthusiastic, kind, caring and respectful, and this provides an environment for residents to feel comfortable and not worry about why they are unable to live independently at home.
Team members treat all the residents like members of their own family; he is cared for and looked after extremely well.

I visit each week and I am able to talk to residents and staff. The warm and friendly atmosphere always strikes me, even after two years of visiting. The events team work hard to provide a variety of experiences that are both enjoyable and therapeutic. Recent examples include Oktoberfest, a visit from
an owl sanctuary complete with owls and an evening with belly dancers and cheese and wine, to name but a few.
I attend the regular family meetings where there are always family members present who speak of the high standard of care their loved ones are receiving. Any concerns raised are taken seriously and I have seen how they have been acted on.
All staff have the best interests of the residents at heart, they are guided by the message that while Dora Rose is their place of work it is home to all of the residents and this shows through in their kind, caring and respectful manner.

My mother was a resident at Dora Rose Care Home from August 2020 until she sadly passed away in April this year. Throughout her stay I found the staff to be so professional, caring and loving to all of the residents. The purpose-built home resembles a luxury hotel with accommodation and facilities which
are second to none. The daily activities are excellent and appropriate for the individual needs of residents. Having dined there, I found the food was plentiful, wonderfully prepared and served in a very professional manner. My overall opinion of Dora Rose is that it is truly excellent in every aspect. No one wants a relative to have to live in a care home but if someone has to I can't think of a better place. I would unreservedly recommend Dora Rose to anyone and have already told my relatives that if I ever need nursing care Dora Rose is where I want to go.

Having just lost his wife and then moving out of his own home in another part of the country into care would be a daunting experience for most of us. Fortunately, we chose Dora Rose Care Home and after an initial confused period, aided by an understanding staff, his paper and the freedom to check that
all was well in the office, he was able to settle. The accommodation and facilities are first class, as are all staff. From the moment you set foot in the building, with the friendly greeting, it is apparent that you have entered a well-run organisation with excellent teamwork.
The ingenious activities team are a real inspiration to both residents and their families - no matter how frail, all residents are invited to events - absolutely tremendous.
Sadly, my brother is no longer with us, but having now completed "the journey", I am greatly comforted that I chose Dora Rose for him. He received great care and freedom and we both received every consideration as his end drew near.

Since the beginning of my friend's stay at Dora Rose, every single member of staff I have had contact with has been extremely friendly and helpful. Some have gone out of their way to accommodate my friends' needs. They have facilitated our contact and the video calls arranged at my request have been
very helpful.
My friend is well looked after and the care seems to be of the highest standard.
When I visit, there is always someone willing to be helpful.

I have worked as a volunteer at the home as part of the activities team for the last six months. The home is now of an excellent standard with a manager who goes above and beyond for the staff which creates a fabulous atmosphere. Since starting, our activities team has expanded and we now have what
I believe is the best activities team with an exceptional leader. The activities provide fun, variety and a daily program which is offered seven days a week. I love working with all the team at Dora Rose. Myself and the families always get the warmest of welcomes by all the reception team who are so professional and friendly. Well done Dora Rose!

Dora Rose is a wonderful home, with caring supportive staff who go above and beyond. On behalf of my brother and myself, I would like to thank all who cared for our father, you showed kindness, care and support to him. He always spoke so fondly of the staff. His room was beautiful, spacious and he couldn’t
get over the size of the TV on the wall!! Dad's condition improved so much after moving to your home and it encouraged him to gain strength and movement in his left side. This allowed him to have the opportunity to play his favourite instrument which he was able to have in his room. One of the staff even went out of their way to allow our dad to try a friends keyboard just so he could have a try. You celebrated his birthday in style and he thought it was the best birthday he’d ever had. Dora Rose will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Our major impression of Dora Rose was the care and compassion shown to our Uncle and ourselves. Staff went out of their way to make his end of life care just as we wished. The whole ethos of Dora Rose is concerned with wellbeing. As a family, we were consulted and included in decisions. We never felt
"in the way", and the offer of refreshments when visiting was appreciated. An aspect of the end of life care we really appreciated was being able to visit whenever we wished. We were never made to feel a nuisance but welcomed as friends. The building is impressive and didn't have the feel and "aroma" of old people. We highly recommend Dora Rose and all its staff. We thank God that we had them.

We, as a family, sadly had to make a difficult decision for my lovely 97-year-old mother-in-law to go into a care home. I had no hesitation to ask if she could be placed in Dora Rose. The admission process was dealt with compassion and empathy. She has initially settled in well and is joining in with
the activities. Whilst it is sad that my mother-in-law could no longer be cared for at home, we know she is being looked after and cared for.
Many thanks to all at Dora Rose for genuinely caring.

Excellent Care from all members of staff - nurses, carers, reception, management and service staff. This care extends not only to the residents but to their families as well. The civilised policy of allowing the family to visit at any time when the resident is on end of life care is excellent. Not only
are you treated as not being made to feel a nuisance, but you are welcomed and given a cup of tea. The building and facilities are something else and their excellence has to be seen to be believed.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.406)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.406) out of 10 for Dora Rose Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.406 for Dora Rose Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (192 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (28 Satisfactorys x 3) + (15 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 308 Ratings = 4.406
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dora Rose Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m Julie, and I live in Tamworth. I am the owner of a 15-year-old tortie cat, Chrystal. She was a rescue cat at 6 months old. I love animals, and due to this, I am heavily involved in fundraising for a local animal rescue charity. I help organise fundraising events, support with cat homing visits and help with the transportation of donations to various local animal charities.

I was a holiday rep with Thomas Cook for 10 years. I have worked in many countries across the Mediterranean, Spain, Italy and Greece, to name a few. I have done a variety of roles working abroad, everything from looking after children in a kids club to taking adults on a bar crawl and meet/greet at the airport. This was a job I loved, as every 6-8 months I could change destination, and it inspired my love of travelling. Now that I live back in the UK, I look forward to my holidays and always look for new experiences or new destinations.

I have worked in the care industry for the last 15 years. I started in Domiciliary care before going to work at Good Hope Hospital for 9 years. I worked in a variety of departments, which I loved and learnt so much. I have since worked in areas involving Challenging behaviour, mental health and specialist Dementia nursing homes.

I am proud to be working at Macc Care and looking forward to the new challenges ahead, as well as meeting loads more new people.

I live locally in Huntington with my husband, dog, and cats. I have 2 grown-up daughters and 1 beautiful grandson, who is my world.

I'm fairly new to Dora Rose Care Home, but I am loving it. It's so peaceful being right in the heart of Cannock Chase. The people are lovely.

I would say I like cooking, but my husband is a chef, so he does it all. I am a foodie.

I like watching movies with my husband, and love music of all kinds. My utmost love is Cornwall. We go there every year. One day I would like to move there.

I am proud to say that I have worked for West Midlands Ambulance Service for 7 years as a 999 Health Advisor, plus 2 years at NHS 111 Service, also as a Health Advisor. I have many years’ experience in Customer Service Roles.
