As always, everyone was friendly and helpful. As I haven't seen my father for a while I am happy that he is in a comfortable situation and stage of his life.
Although he is not very communicative I have managed to have some short words from him. It seems to me he is OK. I would like to thank the team
for their effort to make my father comfortable.

Beachcroft House Care Home honestly was the best place for our mother. Our mother loved it there, she was very well looked after.
The activities were well chosen and she loved them. The home itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff also are very caring and insightful.

This was the first time visiting the care home and had travelled a long way so was happy when finally arrived. The receptionist was very helpful explaining the entry procedure of signing in, also acknowledged by asking if I'd phoned ahead of coming which was nice as I had had some queries about parking.
We were taken to the appropriate floor and directed where to go and whom to speak to.
The home looked bright, clean, spacious and new with music playing in the restroom for the residents which was enlightening. It was nice to see the support staff members sitting with the residents and being attentive to their needs and able to answer my general questions. The nurses and support staff all made us feel welcome and we were offered a cup of tea and biscuits which we shared with our family member for which we were very grateful.
From this visit, I feel happy and confident that we will visit again.

Mum was a resident from May 2022 to yesterday, when she unfortunately lost her battle with dementia. The staff at Shirland Road are Angels in my book, from the manager to the cleaners and everyone in between. Both Mum and my family have always been listened to, accommodated and treated with dignity
and respect, family more than carers. Words will never be enough. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. People make the facility and here they have the best. The last 2 years of Mum's life were made easier and happier because of all of you and we as a family will forever be grateful. Thank you.
Reply from Erika Galeno, Home Manager at Beachcroft House Care HomeI'm deeply sorry for your loss. Your appreciation is touching, and I will share your message to the team. If there's anything we can do during this difficult time, please don't hesitate to reach out. Kind regards

The staff are wonderful, they make sure my mum is comfortable and well taken care of and I feel she is safe. The staff keep me updated all the time with things my mum does. The building is always clean and tidy and staff are friendly and answer any concerns asked. I was upset to put my mum in a home,
however, I know this was definitely the right choice for her and any fears I had before are long gone.
Reply from Erika, Home Manager at Beachcroft House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience. Choosing a care home for a loved one is always difficult but I am glad we were able to support you through this process and that Mum is safe and well cared for. Warmest wishes, Erika.

It is always a pleasure visiting my father-in-law. The environment is always friendly with a smile on the staff‘s faces. This review relates to November 2023, but is not to say that the visits on the months before have been any different. The staff are kind and caring and as I mentioned earlier, always
a pleasure to go and visit. If there are any problems they do their best to resolve it as soon as possible, and if not they find a way around it to make conditions as agreeable as possible for their residents.

My mother has been a resident since 2019. She continues to receive great care. She is safe and is extremely well cared for. She is much happier in herself and the improvements in her well-being are noticeable. The staff are fantastic and really look after my mother in a respectful and caring way. I
am a frequent visitor to the home and see the way all residents are treated with care and respect.

Since my mum has been a resident, I have seen great improvement in her overall health and well-being. The staff take very good care of her and show her dignity and respect. The staff also allow my mum to feel she has a level of independence and choice in her care which is vitally important for people
living with dementia as my mum.

My elderly mother was moved to Beachcroft during the pandemic from another care home. At the same time, I moved away from London but had the opportunity of visiting the home on their open day. I was able to see her room and facilities and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely and clean everything was.
I had weekly WhatsApp calls with my mother and the staff were always good at letting me know about her health and well-being. Reviews and meetings were done over zoom calls and on the phone. My mum was included in outings and trips to the local park. They celebrated her birthdays with a party and she joined in with entertainments that were going on in the home. She appeared happy and content and made special bonds with several staff members. Unfortunately mum passed away recently and I was able to stay at the care home during her end of life. The staff were extremely supportive and attentive to me, as well as my mum during this difficult time.

Good facilities. Staffing is a challenge it seems with what appears to be a high number of agency staff. That said, the permanent staff are very good. I am not really aware of what activities take place, probably because I visit at weekends due to work commitments.

When my husband first went to Beechcroft I had been caring for him for 15 plus years and found it very hard to let go, l was going in up to three times a week to check on him and I think the staff thought I didn't trust them. I am sorry for that but it wasn't intentional I was just guilt ridden that
this man whom I have been married to for nearly 50 years and had promised in Church to stand by him in sickness and health was now in a care home. Over the last couple of months after attending a couple of events one being the Queen's Jubilee I have started to let go and it feels so much better. When I go now just once a week he is always happy, clean and tidy and the staff are wonderful everyone knows him and greet him with a smile and a little joke. This week was his birthday when we went to visit him the staff had decorated the dining room for him it looked wonderful. Going forward I hope to have a great relationship with all at Beachcroft.

My dad, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident of Beachcroft since it opened and was at another place previously. He is very challenging to look after due to his intermittent behaviour issues and good mobility, however, the staff have done an excellent job. They show great patience and care
for him. On visiting the home, all the staff I have met are very friendly, and I can tell my dad is happy being there. The home keeps me well informed of everything, including all their activities. The facilities are first class, the rooms are spacious, and there is a lovely garden too. I have no reservations in recommending this care home; your relative will be well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.744)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.744) out of 10 for Beachcroft House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.769 for Beachcroft House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (198 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.769
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beachcroft House Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
