Following my daughter's wedding we had a 're-run' at Lakelands Lodge for my mum. It was excellent. The staff went to a great deal of trouble and my mum loved it. Thank you so much!
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your review. The staff thoroughly enjoyed the re-run of the wedding and will be pleased to know that their efforts did not go un noticed. They are looking forward to many more events like this. I shall pass on your kind words to the team.

We regularly visit my mother-in-law at Lakelands Lodge, she is happy, comfortable and very well looked after here. The staff are always jolly and attentive. It was my daughter's wedding (her granddaughter) and she arrived with the groom (the wedding march was playing) the lounge was beautifully laid
out with cakes and glasses ready for our Procecco, really wonderful for her grandma, for us and other residents. Fabulous, well done Lakelands staff!
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. I shall pass these on to the team. They look forward to celebrating special occasions with residents and their loved ones. This is one they will never forget.

Mum is treated with dignity and well looked after. The staff are really good and keep Mum safe. They try to get her involved in activities which she sometimes refuses to do. As a family, we knew Mum is safe and gives us peace of mind. Her room has lovely views and she enjoys seeing and watching the
activities on the boating lake.

This review, as reflected in the ratings, reflects almost complete satisfaction with the overall experience of my wife's care at Lakelands Lodge. My one area of concern is with the shortage of permanent daytime nursing staff and the continued reliance on agency staff. The treatment of Huntington's Disease
benefits greatly from routine, familiarity and continuity of care - which is difficult to achieve with staff at the nursing level constantly changing.
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your review I will pass your kind words to the staff. We have been working hard to recruit nurses at Lakelands and currently have staff going through the onboarding process. My door is always open if you wish to come and talk to me.

There is a severe lack of continuity with nursing staff. When care staff telephone me at home they must speak louder and clearer because I have hearing problems. Reception should be manned at all times.
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your review I will pass on your concerns to the team and ensure they are made aware when calling families that they may be talking to someone with a hearing impairment. In response to your concern regarding continuity of nursing staff we have been working hard to recruit and currently have nurses in the on boarding process which will afford us more continuity. Please do come and talk to me if you have any other concerns or suggestions that will improve your loved ones stay and your contact with the home.

The Lodge is a lovely home and I’m very happy with the care my dad receives. The rooms are spacious, well maintained and kept very clean, some with lovely views over the boating pool and Irish Sea. All staff are very helpful, friendly and always have time to answer any questions. There are plenty of
varied activities for all residents.
Thank you to everyone for everything you do.

In the Summer of 2023, my 98-year-old father came to Lakeland's Lodge under the nursing care of the manager and her team. From the beginning until my Father passed away in February 2024, he was treated with dignity, respect and given a high quality of care. His own room was well-proportioned, pleasant
and very clean. The common areas were bright and airy. The residents were lovely people. As Dad neared the end, the staff were exceptional in the comfort and support they gave to him and us as a family. As a Home, it was very well managed and run. Lakelands has a modern professional feel, with good facilities for the residents. The staff were dedicated to their work and you could feel they were living out their vocations. As a family, we will always be grateful for the care, help and advice from the manager and the team.
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your lovely review. It is our aim to provide the best person-centred, quality care for all residents and families. It is great to know when we get this right. I will pass on your beautiful words of thanks to the staff. Who will appreciate these words as much as I do.

Everyone made us feel very welcome when we first viewed this home, and answered the questions we asked. The visit to our home by the manager was both professional and courteous when filling out the relevant forms.
When my husband arrived we noticed that the bathroom cabinet was too high (as he is
in a wheelchair) he couldn't see to shave. There was no problem, the maintenance man lowered it straight away. The care within the 8 days my husband was there was fantastic and he will be returning next time I need respite care.
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your review and kind words. At Lakelands our aim is to provide high quality care and we are pleased to hear that your husband enjoyed his stay. We look forward to his return and are pleased that you have found us your go-to place when you both need some respite. I will pass on your review to the staff who will be as pleased as I am.

Mum has been at Lakelands for nearly two years now, and apart from a few hiccups when she first went in and was settling in, she is very happy. The staff are, without exception, friendly, helpful and caring. My brothers, I and our families have peace of mind knowing Mum is safe, warm, cared for and
very happy. The rooms and views are beautiful and make staying there a really pleasant experience.

The staff are very friendly and caring. My dad is very well looked after in such lovely surroundings. It's very reassuring for the family to know Dad is in good hands. The entertainment here is very good, and the activity lady works very hard to please as much as she can. She always has a cheerful smiley
face and persuades my dad to join in, which he ultimately enjoys (he needs persuasion).
Reply from Sharon HIll, Lodge Manager at Lakelands LodgeThank you for your kind words. We are glad to hear that you are happy with the care your dad receives, and we endeavour to ensure that this continues. The activities team try to ensure that activities take place across the home so that residents can engage and enjoy their days at Lakeland's. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.605)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.605) out of 10 for Lakelands Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.605 for Lakelands Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (278 Excellents x 5) + (144 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 435 Ratings = 4.605
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakelands Lodge is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
