The Lodge is a lovely home and I’m very happy with the care my dad receives. The rooms are spacious, well maintained and kept very clean, some with lovely views over the boating pool and Irish Sea. All staff are very helpful, friendly and always have time to answer any questions. There are plenty of varied activities for all residents.

Thank you to everyone for everything you do.

In the Summer of 2023, my 98-year-old father came to Lakeland's Lodge under the nursing care of the manager and her team. From the beginning until my Father passed away in February 2024, he was treated with dignity, respect and given a high quality of care. His own room was well-proportioned, pleasant and very clean. The common areas were bright and airy. The residents were lovely people. As Dad neared the end, the staff were exceptional in the comfort and support they gave to him and us as a family. As a Home, it was very well managed and run. Lakelands has a modern professional feel, with good facilities for the residents. The staff were dedicated to their work and you could feel they were living out their vocations. As a family, we will always be grateful for the care, help and advice from the manager and the team.

Everyone made us feel very welcome when we first viewed this home, and answered the questions we asked. The visit to our home by the manager was both professional and courteous when filling out the relevant forms.

When my husband arrived we noticed that the bathroom cabinet was too high (as he is in a wheelchair) he couldn't see to shave. There was no problem, the maintenance man lowered it straight away. The care within the 8 days my husband was there was fantastic and he will be returning next time I need respite care.

The staff are very friendly and caring. My dad is very well looked after in such lovely surroundings. It's very reassuring for the family to know Dad is in good hands. The entertainment here is very good, and the activity lady works very hard to please as much as she can. She always has a cheerful smiley face and persuades my dad to join in, which he ultimately enjoys (he needs persuasion).

Thank you to all the team for a wonderful 3rd birthday party, I attended last week, while visiting my aunt.
She may have not known the words, as never listened to music in her younger days, but kept smiling as the other residents and staff created a wonderful atmosphere.
Looking forward to my next visit and thank you for the monthly newsletters.

Father Christmas will be calling on them soon!

Cannot praise the fantastic staff highly enough. They have done everything possible to ensure my husband has settled in. His room is lovely, very spacious and spotlessly clean. I am made to feel very welcome when I visit. Everyone is always cheerful and the care they show for each and everyone of the patients is truly humbling. There's plenty of varied activities offered to keep the residents occupied (had my husband singing and dancing on his first day)! The whole place is modern and there's a lounge area with a lovely sea view that is very calming.

My next of kin spent the last 2 years of her life here, the last 6 months of which were on an end-of-life basis. Throughout her stay, she was treated with the utmost care, dignity and professionalism and above all, love. From an early stage, she called this her new home and acknowledged with gladness the love and care she received. There is a happy atmosphere at Lakelands and throughout I felt entirely happy and confident that my next of kin was receiving the very best care and support. A huge thank you to the manager and the team who always go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis. You all work so very hard, deserving a higher remuneration.

My dad has been in Lakelands Lodge for a while now and for me the most important issue is that he is treated with dignity and compassion which I believe he is. The staff overall are patient and kind but occasionally appear a little understaffed. The home is a beautiful purpose built care home, with an airy open feel, a great view over the boating lake, really good-sized bedrooms with good-sized en-suites. The manager is always available to discuss any issues and is very patient and understanding. The food is very good considering they are having to cater for so many varied appetites, my dad loves a cooked breakfast which he appears to have most days. Overall the place is kept clean and tidy. I believe overall the best interests of the residents is the main priority. When I visit my dad it is really good to see how the staff treat him, people in reception, the manager all greet him warmly, he knows them and mostly seems genuinely happy there, which gives me great peace of mind when I leave.

When my mother arrived at Lakelands Lodge she had lost so much weight but thanks to the dedicated staff especially the kitchen staff who make the most delicious cakes and desserts which she loves, she has regained most of the weight that she had lost. Cannot fault any of the health care assistants who go above and beyond to care and take the time to talk and make her feel at ease, along with the receptionists and activities staff. The manager is approachable and usually available if there are any issues.

My mum has recently moved into this home, and I cannot fault it at all. My mum had Altzeimersand Dementia and is in the secure unit, as she tends to wander. I feel confident that she’s safe there. The staff are so lovely and genuinely care for the residents. It’s very laid back and has a lovely homely feel to it; everyone knows everyone, and you can see how much the staff enjoy it there. The rooms are lovely and spacious, and all have private wet room/shower rooms. We had a problem with the TV when she moved in, and it was resolved immediately. It’s such a difficult decision to find the right home, but I really do think this is the best one we could have found.

Failed to care properly for my parents, both have dementia. There's a difference between trying to keep independence and neglecting to give basic care, repeatedly wearing the same dirty clothes, no clean clothes, no help to select the correct clothes, the day they moved out Dad was squeezed into Mum's trousers. No continence support, on the day of the move, there were wet clothes in with those that I was packing, more found going through the clothes at home. Body marks and injuries were missed when assisted with showering. Also missing from body maps. Left to use inappropriate substances and implements to shower, just a few of the issues. In 2 years haven’t been involved with care plans, not for want of asking. Within the first week of being in their new home, we have been invited to review the care plans. Within 30 mins of being in his new home, Dad said he didn't want to go back to the old place! Complaints still unanswered as per Athenas' 28-day policy. Instead, 28 days' notice was served.
