Mum has been a resident at Oxbow Manor for 2 years, in May this year the staff at Oxbow Manor assisted in arranging a special birthday party for mum's 90th birthday. This was attended by close family including sons, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. They helped to arrange a spectacular way to celebrate mum's birthday- providing a lovely room to hold the party, a delicious buffet and beautiful birthday cake. The staff were very helpful and family commented on how lovely they were.

My dad has come to live at Oxbow Manor Care Home after being diagnosed with dementia after I tried to look after him at home. All aspects of the process have been fantastic from speaking to Ann to arrange admission to all reception staff who all know my name and dads name, to the carers, nurses, cleaners, maintenance people who all say hello when you walk past them. My dad does not really mix with people and the carers have gone above and beyond with encouraging him to get out of his room and go on trips in the bus to sing along sessions, I even did a quiz with them all and sometimes watch some of the entertainment they have on. They have a cafe for visitors and the residences and they make the best home made cakes ever. My dad has really come out of himself and enjoys it here very much. Well done to all the team. Thank you

Respite care - This is the 2nd time that I have chosen to stay in Oxbow Manor following surgery because of the complications I would face being at home on my own. That I chose to return here is the most telling statement I can make. There were other options, but this was my 1st choice. Why? Confidence in management, staff and level of care. The staff are friendly, cheerful and positive. Also being a relatively new building the facilities are to a high standard.

As a family, we have nothing but praise for the care, love and support given to both parents/m-laws. All the carers are lovely, kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum was in for respite for 2 weeks. The place was clean, warm and welcoming, mum didn't use the facilities although encouraged by staff. But the activities seemed good and varied. We feel mum would have enjoyed her stay if she had joined in and requested help.

Having been chosen at a POA for a very dear friend of 60 years! I chose most carefully choosing the appropriate Residential and Nursing Home for her future care! Therefore I can honestly express my true account of the nursing care, cleanliness, food, drink, safety etc - in one word Excellent" It warms my heart seeing her so happy with so many caring staff and new friends. Despite having to give her beautiful home up, she accepts this is a new chapter for her latter years.

My 97 year old father was recently become a resident at Oxbow Manor, from what I have witnessed. Nothing is too much trouble for the nurses, or carers. I think it is a lovely home, well looked after. It is a pleasure to visit. I cannot find fault with anything.

My room is clean, airy and well presented.
Staff are always friendly and caring.
The food is good, perhaps in the warmer days a salad could be on the menu.

Communal areas are welcoming and there are many things to participate in.

After viewing about 4 other care homes, we quickly found Oxbow Manor was by far the nicest with a good 'feel' to it completed with the managers friendly and professional manner. She explained everything clearly and whilst the costs are high - compared to others there is not much in it though my step is happy and enjoys the food as well.

Within days of coming at Oxbow Manor, my mother was visibly happier and bright. After two weeks, she referred to Oxbow as her home. She is eating very well and we can tell she knows she is safe and looked after by people who genuinely care. Amazingly clean establishment. All the staff are warm and friendly and guests and residents alike. We are so glad we chose Oxbow Manor.

Generally satisfied, apart from the cost and the catering.
How some £7900 justified for residential facility can be justified. I do not understand unless capital cost is being reserved ober a short period.

Hotel prices would be half or less, with better catering. Access to medical care, i.e. GP, doctor and hospital, is complicated and to be largely DIY.

My first three weeks were undoubtedly the most difficult time having to accept that my home, my car, many of my belongings and all my very many friends were no longer a part of my life. Even my family were no longer readily available as previously. However, as I begin to accept my new situation, I found the Oxbow Manor exceeded my expectations and my new life was now being accepted.

We recently celebrated our diamond wedding anniversary and I arranged unbeknown to the staff a cake, champagne and nibbles. We had a party of 10 people. When we arrived, we found the cinema/bar decorated with an assortment of decorations from the ceiling, the words "Happy Anniversary" on the TV, a cluster of balloons on the bar and a fantastic cake. All our visitors were full of praise for the staff and everything.

My father has stayed for 2 week period. The facilities are tidy and clean and gave my father a good routine and settled very well. The staff were very friendly, caring and able to offer myself as a care lead, quality advice and support. Which I have been able to use, especially when dealing with social care. Without this support it would have been more difficult. If we need to use a residential home for rest bite or full future residential care in the future, this would be place we would like to take him again.

I experienced proffessional, competent, friendly assistance from my first enquiry about post-operative convalescent care. The manager was particularly reassuring and helpful. The building is wonderful, light airy and spirit-raising. The staff have all been helpful, pleasant, nothing seems too much trouble.

My post-operative recovery has been greatly eased by my stay at Oxbow Manor.

We moved mum to be closer to the family. After much research, it seemed that Oxbow Manor was the obvious choice, and we have not been disappointed.
The first thing you feel is friendship and belonging from the get-go, and all the staff make you feel welcome. Within a day everyone seemed to know her and greeted her everywhere she went, and that level of dedication to care is evident in everything they do.
As a family, we are greeted and they engage with us and keep us informed. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
The facilities and atmosphere are impressive too. Go to the library, garden or cinema/music room or kick back in the cafe or a TV lounge. Mum loves the hot chocolate.
Having a loved one with advanced dementia can be tough but it is so comforting knowing whether we are there or not she is in safe and genuinely caring hands.

Thanks to all the staff at Oxbow for what you do, we appreciate you.

Michelle MaidanJob Title:Home Manager

I joined Oxbow Manor in 2022 when the opening opened, having heard excellent recommendations from care staff who had worked for other Care UK care homes. Their values are important to me and are ones I share; fulfilling lives, quality, personalised care and supporting a team whilst recognising their hard work!

I have 30 years’ experience in the NHS working as a Registered Nurse and Independent Prescriber, as well as experience as a Clinical Lead in another local care home. To ensure I carry out my role to the highest standard, I ensure everything I do is done with care and compassion, and with an approachable attitude. I find that good communication with the team is paramount for success.

In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, macrame, reading and spending time with my Cockapoo Bayley!
