Since my wife entered Abbots Manor in May 2024 I have nothing but praise for the whole staff who have made her happy and comfortable. and there is always a positive atmosphere with an emphasis on what can be done and not on what cannot be done. When visiting The Ho Bea Tea room there is always a good selection of fruit, cakes etc. again the staff are always helpful, The building and facilities are also excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending

Two years on from your wife moving in, it's good to know that Abbots Wood Manor still feels like the right choice for her - and especially good to hear that the emphasis on what can be done, rather than what can't, comes across so clearly. That outlook is what the team works at every day. We're...

My Mum has been a resident of Abbots Wood Manor nursing home for 10 months. From day one, all aspects of the care she is receiving have been excellent, and the family are so grateful that Mum is safe and is being so well cared for. All the staff are so kind and considerate of Mum's needs. Nothing is too much trouble. I can highly recommend them to anyone looking for care for their loved ones. In my opinion you won't find anywhere better.

Reply from Helena Barrow, Home Manager at Abbots Wood Manor Care Home

Our family cannot thank the team at Abbots Wood Manor enough for the care and compassion they have shown my mum since she moved in a year ago. After looking around several homes Abbots Wood was by far the best. The carers are patient, attentive and genuinely caring. The atmosphere in the home is always so calm and happy, and makes visiting my mum so much easier. The home itself is always so clean and a safe and engaging homely place rather than institutional. I would highly recommend this care home to any family looking for outstanding care.

I am so glad I chose this home for my husband, following his severe stroke. His room is spacious and comfortable, the food is good quality and the cafe area is a lovely place to sit and socialise. The home is very well run, communication is good and the care staff kind and respectful.

I feel they treat my husband as an individual with his own wishes and feelings accommodated. I find the staff extremely approachable too.

The care and attention the team has is very good. It's clear that the Abbotswood team work really well with each other, which is a key indicator of a healthy work place and good care outcomes. The integration of nursing provision across the home is exceptional. It's incredibly hard to watch my mum deteriorate but very reassuring to know she is supported by such a good team.

My Mother in law has been at Abbotts wood for 18 months and her Mother ( my grandmother in law) joined her in January
This was the best decision we have made for both of them. It's given Mum a new lease life coping with Alzheimer's and has given us an extra year and counting with Nan at 101.
The care the staff give both of them is exceptional and that goes for the care they give us as relatives during difficult times

I love telling anyone who will listen about Abbotts Wood and the wonderful Life they are both now living and the extreme piece of mind that gives us as a family thankyou all.

It means such a lot to know that he will be well looked after and that he is happy to go. I am able to have a break knowing that all will be well.
All the staff are very caring. My husband is treated with dignity and respect. His individual needs and wants are met. He is encouraged to keep up with all his interests inside and outside of the home.
The home is always clean and tidy but also has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Overall Experience
My mother moved into Abbots Wood Manor in October, due to increasing needs with her care and mobility issues. She had already stayed for three weeks respite care a couple of years beforehand and was very happy, so when it came to the time for her to permanently move, it seemed obvious to look at it again. I looked at various homes and this one still shone above the rest. The atmosphere in the home is so friendly and welcoming, happy and caring. Most importantly my mother is very happy and settled. She loves the food. The staff are very attentive and always keep me informed of any concerns that they may have about her. They are also very inclusive to the families, with various events organised to be together. It is clean and her room is a good size with a lovely patio garden just for her. There are activities put on every day and excursions.

Overall, I am relieved to know that my mother is happy, safe, monitored regularly and well looked after.

Abbots Wood provides a comfortable living space for its residents, and much effort is taken by staff to ensure that it maintains a 'homely' feel. I have been pleased to see the enhancements to planting in the garden and outdoor areas this summer as they are extremely popular with residents and provide great options during visits. Social engagement and activities were important criteria in our choice of care home and those on offer are extensive and varied. It is great to see the enthusiastic participation of staff in all pursuits. My mum is passionate about music, and this is very well catered for. Every staff member that I have encountered has been kind and caring and demonstrated a respect for the individual needs of the residents under their supervision. It is extremely reassuring to observe the relationships and mutual trust that exist. I am pleased that we have found a safe and supportive environment for my mum with a keen sense of community and inclusivity.
