My father came here for respite but think he will end up staying. Your staff are always so welcoming and introduce themselves and say hello. Nothing is too much trouble. It feels like a high class family run hotel. The standard of cleanliness, welcome, accommodation and staff is excellent. I would highly recommend you without hesitation. Thank you.

At the time of her admission to Abbots Wood Manor, my very frail 89-year-old mother had been bedbound for five months, these five months having been spent mainly in hospital plus a few weeks in another care home.
Within days of arriving at Abbots Wood Manor, she was enjoying short daily breaks in an armchair. Staff told me that the first time they did it, a beaming smile spread across mother's face on realising that she had been placed in a chair.
In subsequent weeks she progressed to being dressed and taken to the dining room for her dinner. I could hardly believe it when I was asked to bring her clothes in! The carers are very kind and patient with mother and are prepared to invest however long it takes to facilitate these little excursions from her bed and from her room.
Rooms are spacious. Food and drink is excellent, with mother's intake being so much better since her arrival at Abbots Wood Manor.

All staff are very accessible and approachable.

During my stay here, I have found all the staff and management caring and compassionate. The atmosphere very friendly and efficient. Food has been exceptional and varied. The service of the room has been very good, also the entertainment. All in all, I would recommend without reservation Abbots Wood Manor to anyone.

My dad has been a resident at Abbots Wood Manor since October 2023. The care, communication, food, activities and staff are amazing, we couldn’t be happier with the care he’s receiving. A huge highlight is the weekly activities and outings that Abbots Wood provides, in particular he enjoyed the trip to the garden centre. We can’t thank them enough for the support we have all received in this time of transition.

My mother-in-law is currently in Abbots Wood Manor. Since arriving at the home she has become so much less anxious, she is relaxed and happy. The staff are so kind, caring, friendly and professional. There are always daily activities for the residents to get involved in. My mother-in-law has been out for an afternoon tea, which was great for her confidence. Nothing is too much trouble. We also love the bistro, the coffee is great and it’s such a lovely place to meet up socially and it doesn’t feel at all like a hospital or clinical. The private lounges are also so lovely to sit quietly and play board games.

An excellent care home which has great management and staff. Great environment, super rooms and facilities. Very good range of activities and top work by the entertainer organiser. The care staff are all superb and committed. Far more than we have been used to. Really passionate about care. The food and catering are superb! The homemakers have a lot on their plate. The only occasional area of slippage is cleaning but only rarely. We are glad the care is a priority rather than cleaning.

Having reviewed nine nursing homes, Abbots Wood Manor came out on top. The overall feeling of entering the home and the facilities offered we impressive. Now that my brother is a resident, I am equally impressed with the care he has received. In addition, the staff have shown a level of care and concern towards me that I did not expect. Abbots Wood Manor warmly welcomes visitors, family and friends and I love that they allow dogs, justifying that it is a home. The building, the rooms, the decor and the furnishing and the staff. All to be proud of.

My sister and I viewed many care homes before choosing Abbotswood for our father. We knew upon entering the home and after our first meeting with the manager and regional relations manager that this was a special place. My father settled quickly and has been very happy living there. All the staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious, plenty of activities going on and daily walks in the gardens if the resident so wishes. The accommodation is light and airy and has a lovely feel. The homemakers have made it a very special place for my father. Now his health is declining we have been met with care and compassion and he is still happy. This is a very special home, one of a kind.

This was our first experience with respite care and was nervous about finding the right place while we had building work done. We need not have worried, all our concerns were listened to and supported throughout my husband's stay. Although he would have preferred to be at home with me, it could not have been a better place. The building is modern and spacious. The lounges are comfortable and quiet. The food was plentiful and delicious. Staff responded to his fear of being alone as much as possible. He was in safe hands with people who understood his dementia and protected his mobility. Thank you to everyone for their kindness to us both.
