My father lived in Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home for around eighteen months before he passed away in March 2024. He moved in for respite care after a hip operation and was so happy with the care and attention he received, he decided to stay. This was quite a shock as for years he'd insisted that
he'd never live in a care home. The friendliness of carers and management was a large part of this, Dad felt safe, valued and relaxed. There were plenty of opportunities to socialise with other residents in the cafe and through activities, social events and guest events. I cannot thank Crandon Springs enough for making Dad's last years happy and content, for being vigilant with his healthcare and for caring for him with compassion and dignity throughout his time there.

Mum is cared for exceptionally well. The care team really know her and have built lovely relationships with her. She is always well dressed, clean and obviously well looked after.

My father has recently passed peacefully at Crandon Springs. He was somewhat apprehensive when he first made the decision to move to the care home in 2022 but he knew that he needed more support than could be easily provided at his flat. He settled in quickly thanks to the great support and care that
he received from the staff and took advantage of the events and social program provided to get to know other residents. Being not far from the center of Wells, friends from his old flats used to walk over to see him and we could easily take him out for lunch and walks. More recently he was in hospital and the manager and staff went the extra mile to arrange that he could return to the home as soon as practical to continue his recovery. He was happy, cheerful, and chatty with the staff and residents. We thank everyone involved with his stay and are happy to recommend Crandon Springs to other families.

I would like to thank the Crandon Springs team for the arrangements they made for a group of three of us who visited one of the residents in the dementia care wing yesterday. We were all at college together many years ago! They arranged for us to have lunch in a separate room, which made it much easier
to hear what was said (we are all over 80). The staff were wonderfully caring and practical, as well as providing a delicious lunch in a lovely environment.

I find the staff at Crandon welcoming and obliging. Although my mother does not participate in the activities, all seem very popular with the residents. The room cleaning at one stage was not very good, but is now vastly improved. My one concern is staff shortages at weekends, sometimes the residents
do not get an afternoon cup of tea.

My mother stayed at Barchester Crandon Springs for the first time for some respite care. From introduction, to reception of her during an exploratory visit, to welcoming her, caring for her during her ten day stay, to finally leaving, the staff and attention to detail received by us was exemplary. The
care home is incredibly well appointed, spotlessly tidy and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you so much for making her stay as enjoyable as possible and she cannot wait to return. Looks like we can book another holiday without any worries!

After some initial teething problems with the level of care, lost laundry and some lack of attention to detail, Mum is happy in Crandon Springs. The staff are all absolutely lovely, although sometimes there is a breakdown with processes and also the response time to the call buttons is far too long.

My 94-year-old mum has been living at Crandon Springs since November 2022. She has mild dementia. I have found Crandon Springs a pleasant and welcoming place to visit. There is always tea, coffee and cake available in an attractive cafe in the reception area and the staff are friendly and smiling.
Mum has a comfortable ground-floor room with a door opening directly onto the enclosed garden which she enjoys walking around (although it does need a bit of maintenance!). All the staff I have had dealings with have been helpful, caring and patient. Mum has had a few issues due to her dementia, which the staff dealt with in an understanding and effective way. They make every effort to get to know each individual resident, their likes and dislikes, and arrange their care accordingly. Mum enjoys the meals and the range of activities. The manager seems to be a good manager with a genuine interest in the care of the elderly, and a determination to make Crandon Springs as good as it can be.

Lovely to see Granny looking so happy and well cared for by all the care staff and the chefs for providing all that she asks for. The food is very nutritious and the chefs are very helpful. Also, I noticed a birthday cake was made for one of the residents, which I thought was a nice touch.

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new General Manager of Crandon Springs.


A little bit about me: I began my career in care in 2011 as a Senior Care Assistant. Since then, I have advanced through roles such as Team Leader and Deputy, culminating in management positions. Alongside my career in care, I have also managed a large portfolio of properties and led teams, which has enriched my experience in both fields. Although my childhood dream was to become a registered nurse, I am grateful to have found a fulfilling career within this sector. My focus is always on delivering exceptional care and service, ensuring safety, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.


Personally, I live in Yeovil, Somerset, and grew up in the beautiful Dorset countryside. I share my life with my partner Ryan, my two stepchildren, and our two dogs. We cherish exploring the scenic landscapes of Somerset and Dorset.


I am committed to supporting our team at Crandon Springs and am eager to enhance our community's reputation. I maintain an open-door policy and welcome any feedback you may have. Your insights are invaluable in helping us provide the best care possible.

I’m Darius Ivana, the Deputy General Manager at Crandon Springs, having joined the team in February 2025. With over five years of experience in the care sector, I’ve developed a strong passion for supporting elderly people and ensuring that their needs are met with the utmost compassion and professionalism. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of care settings, always with a focus on delivering person-centred care and promoting the well-being of those I support. Prior to Crandon Springs I started by career with Barchester Homes at Cadbury Hall as Deputy General Manager in 2024.
At Crandon Springs, one of my core responsibilities is to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the facility, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of care and a positive environment for both residents and staff. I’m committed to making sure that our residents’ needs are met on a daily basis, providing them with the care, dignity, and respect they deserve.
In addition to resident care, I place great importance on the well-being and support of our staff. I believe a happy and well-supported team is key to delivering outstanding care. I work closely with staff to ensure they have the resources, training, and support they need to excel in their roles, and I encourage a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Together, we aim to provide exceptional care and create a positive, supportive atmosphere for everyone at Cadbury Hall.
I’m also in the process of completing my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, which will further enhance my ability to lead with confidence and insight. As I continue to grow in my role, I’m excited to work alongside such a dedicated team, continually striving to improve the lives of our residents and contribute to the ongoing success of Crandon Springs.
