Dad has been made to feel very welcome and secure. The staff are friendly and helpful. He has made good progress in his recovery. Dad's room is very comfortable and he enjoys having easy access to its facilities. The communal rooms are just a short walk for him and he has enjoyed meeting others in the
dining room and bistro areas. He has not yet felt able to join in activities. Hopefully, this will follow when his ability to hear improves.

My father has been living with dementia at Elstow Manor for nearly 2 years. He always reports he is well cared for and everyone is very kind and helpful. As a relative, I have found the staff to be caring, kind and responsive. There are many activities available and outings are offered. My father is
encouraged to take part but his choices are always respected. The nursing staff keep us informed of any changes to his health.

I felt at home from my very first day at Elstow Manor. Friendly residents, friendly and helpful staff. A room with en suite facilities plus the chance to use, with the company of a staff member, a very plush bath - I felt like royalty! Whilst residents tended to head for their free time (the lounge
was very quiet) to their own rooms. The activities sessions were well attended and good in their content so time to mix. These sessions were good in their content/organisation. The singer was very well led by talented musicians, craft sessions kept us busy from knitting to painting, games sessions such as bingo, exercises, and the introduction to various animals, from an owl to a performing dog. The food is well cooked but could sometimes be a little more exciting but we were certainly not left hungry. A brilliant 4 weeks,

Recently my grandparents both stayed in Elstow as they needed more care than what was available at home.
Without Elstow's help from all involved my grandparents would not be back at home now. They allowed my grandad to recover after a broken ankle and my nan to gain strength and independence, they
both have a long way to go still but without Elstow, we wouldn’t be where we are now. I know within a blink I could happily let them go back into the care of Elstow Manor without any concerns or worries. All the staff are amazing here and are what makes Elstow good.

The family wanted to say a big thank you for the loving care and support provided to our sister during her time with you. It was a great comfort to us all to know that she was in a safe environment, and was being well looked after. All the staff at the home have been wonderful and she always had a big

My Great Aunt moved here 2 months ago and I am now looking elsewhere as the basic level of care and support is falling far short consistently. Failure to issue prescribed medications, poor communication with family, she is often left in her room alone despite staff sat outside at the nurses station,
reactive help issued but little evidence of proactive care (e.g. asking if she would like to get ready for bed as opposed to waiting to find her in bed half dressed later). Feels as though little effort is made to understand her interests and preferences and rather the most convenient thing for staff is what is actioned. So disappointed.

My mum stayed at Elstow Manor Care Home for respite care following her hip operation. The care and support she received were exceptional. All the staff are amazing - very patient and caring and there is a very friendly atmosphere. Mum really enjoyed all the activities and of course the lovely food!
Mum was very anxious in going to the home beforehand, having lived on her own for many years, however, when the time came she didn't want to leave!

My dad moved into Elstow Manor Care Home in January 2024 and recently turned 80. We had a fantastic Afternoon Tea in the private dining room with all of our family and the food was absolutely superb. The kitchen staff were amazing and made him a beautiful birthday cake along with the rest of the spread.
The weekend receptionist was brilliant and ensured that the room was perfectly laid out. Nothing was too much trouble so thank you. I want to thank all of the staff at the home for making my dad and all of our family welcome including young children who love the play area and snacks! They have made the process of settling dad, who has Alzheimer's, as smooth as possible and we always enjoy visiting him. There are always activities and events taking place and they strive to ensure everyone is included. The residents all seem happy and are a pleasure to chat to.

From the moment we walk through the door we feel welcomed. The staff at all levels, in all roles are consistently approachable and keen to interact to the benefit of the residents and their families. My father is wheelchair bound and mother has dementia and coping with life has been trying for them and myself but moving into Elstow Manor has been a gentle transition. Change brings fear of the unknown but help has been at hand. From first introduction there’s been a willingness to accommodate personal
needs and desires rather than treat everyone as if one size fits all. Within a short space of time my parents feel at home and I don’t feel distressed at leaving them there as if they have to fend for themselves but feel assured that real care and concern is at hand 24/7. Care seems massively expensive yet it’s a competitive business and Elstow Manor is making the effort to provide a good caring service to our loved ones who make up the community within the home.

We would just like to highlight and show appreciation to the home in which our mother now resides. Our mother has been in the home for just over two months now. She is really settling in to her now home. Our view of the home is modern, clean, tidy and a pleasant environment. The staff are excellent
and so helpful. Entertainment is very good along with food quantity and of course quality! All around a very, as we would say, crisp and eye-catching home. Rooms are first class and modern, they are well set out and decorated. Very nice gardens and plenty of seating to take in the good sunny weather. Excellent. Ten out of ten.

Mum spent four weeks in restbite. Well she had a wonderful time. Mum said she was well looked after and that was evident when we all visited her. She has a few care needs and these were taken care of perfectly. I was concerned she would not be dressed in her usual matching clothes but I did not need
to worry. Mum always looked perfect. We have to say the accommodation was 5 star. The food was lovely, Mum enjoyed every meal. Mum met and was cared for by some wonderful people and has said she looks forward to her next visit! That is all we as her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren could ask for. Thank you for your help and consideration every step of the way from our first viewing to mums first and last day. We would say the care has reflected in the costs. Thank you so much.

Having visited many residential homes during my working life. I was very concerned when my husband had to go into care due to dementia. I needn't have worried as the staff at Elstow Manor are so kind and considerate. All the staff talk to him and listen to his nonsense so he feels valued and amongst
friends. They are able to let him do what he wants, without confrontation which keeps him content and stops him from becoming frustrated. I am very pleased with the standard of care which enables me to leave him knowing that he is happy and well looked after.

My uncle moved in following the death of his wife and has settled in well. The staff are friendly and caring. The food is good and the general layout of the home and the gardens gives him the chance to be sociable or to spend time quietly in his room. On the whole, a good place to retire to.

My mum moved into Elstow Manor a few months ago. Understandably, it took a while for her to settle, but now she tells us it feels like 'home' and she is very happy there. She has a lovely room and outdoor patio with her pots and flowers. Caring staff are on hand to provide all the care she needs or
enable her to keep her independence, where she can. She enjoys the luxurious spa baths, the regular hairdresser visits and is starting to engage with more of the activities available for residents to participate in. It has been especially beneficial for Mum to have daily access to qualified nursing staff who are able to sort out any health issues very promptly and seem to have very good links with the local GPs. All of the staff and residents are lovely and Mum is starting to build great relationships with them as they get to know her. It is always a pleasure to visit her at Elstow Manor and it is an enormous relief to the family to know she is safe and cared for 24/7.

My aunt, well Godmother, got to a stage in her life where she needed full-time care. Having been to hospital and then discharged to a care(less) home she moved here. You could not find anywhere that cared and made her happier. The help and communication were exemplary, taking the time to set up a video
call to speak to my 92-year-old mother was so wonderful. Such a shame we are so far away but so grateful I know she is being looked after.

I have nothing but praise for all of the staff, facilities and organisation of Elstow Manor. My mum and the family were very concerned when Mum went into Elstow Manor, but after just a few weeks she had settled very well. The homemakers are all lovely and mum doesn't want for anything. The food is excellent
and mum has said it's like staying in a 5-star hotel. Although when she first arrived there weren't many residents, the staff still made sure that there were plenty of things to do including quizzes (Mum's favourite), singers, a pianist and several visits from people with their dogs and other animals. The outside space is lovely and Mum is lucky enough to have her own little patio area with outside seating.

Val Foley began working in the care sector in 2019 and has been part of the Hamberley team since 2021. A real ‘people person’, Val enjoys supporting families and individuals to find the right care and support within Hamberley’s award-winning homes across Bedfordshire.
