My mother is being very well looked after at Edenbridge Manor and is happy and settled there. The staff are very caring and she is treated with great respect. There is always a calm and pleasant atmosphere when I visit and the facilities and meals are very good too. We have had a couple of internal
communication issues, but they have been resolved quickly.

My mum was here for six weeks. The home is like a hotel and feels very luxurious. The staff are lovely, polite, caring and helpful (lot of agency staff). Mum was on the top floor so the food was brought up from downstairs. By the time it reached her (on a cold plate), it was cold. She didn't like the
meals and at one point we brought in microwave meals for her. A Ploughman's supper consisted of half a slice of processed ham, a thin slice of corned beef, a 50p size brie and a roll, she had to ask for butter! Other residents complained too but it wasn't resolved. Housekeeping wasn't great. She had to ask for her bed and towels to be changed after two weeks as there was no sign of it being done, cleaning was intermittent and the bins were not emptied regularly. When mum cut her leg there was not a first aid kit, no plasters or bandages available, the carer found her one from her handbag! The laundry lost a pair of her trousers and one wash wasn't ironed. Major improvement needed.
Reply from Jane Henri, Customer Service Manager at Edenbridge Manor Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your positive comments regards to our lovely and polite team. I am sorry to hear you are very disappointed with the level of service mum received whilst in our care. Our aim is to provide the best possible experience to those we support and it is something we take very seriously, so thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your comments are much appreciated and each area of your feedback is being investigated with the heads of each department and senior management team. Please be assured this is not up to our usual high standards that we take pride in at Edenbridge Manor and every effort will be made to ensure we learn from this experience in the future. We will contact you directly to address the content of your email. Kind regards.

Lovely building, rooms and people as care staff, caring, smiley, they mean well. But it is very important to note that, despite their clothing, there are no nurses on staff at all! It's a residential care home', they hammered this home, when they came to me to tell me her residency has been terminated.
I
would love to show you the letter sent to me, but sadly on this platform, I can't, maybe on another social media platform. The deputy manager, admitted, that they had a number of residents that they could no longer cope with and were similarly being asked to leave! My mum, is not aggressive or angry, as some with dementia can get. She has become immobile, needs help into a wheelchair and eating, and her legs have a skin infection. With no nurses on staff they can't change the bandages. They have issued a letter advising me the final date of her residency will be the 20th of June. If your loved one will need a nurse at any stage, or more care than they do now, please look elsewhere.
Reply from Jane Henri, Customer Service Manager at Edenbridge Manor Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for commenting on our lovely building and staff. As a residential home, we take great care in undertaking a full assessment, to ensure we can meet future residents' needs, this is a crucial part of understanding our new residents and ensuring we do not accept anyone who requires nursing care as this would not be in anyone's best interest. All our resident's needs are ongoingly reviewed as they can change over time. You'll see as per 2.4 of the signed residency agreement that it states this is reviewed monthly. It was, sadly, identified that we were unable to meet mum's needs and therefore in her best interest to be moved onto another type of home. These decisions are never taken lightly but our residents' welfare is paramount. We are sorry that as a result of mum's needs changing we had to give notice but I hope that you can understand this decision was made in her best interest as we are a residential and dementia care home that are unable to meet nursing needs, Kind regards, Jane.

From the initial visit and tour where we have seen our residents' health and environment dramatically improve. As a dementia patient who is wheelchair bound I am and continue to be very pleased about how he is treated and looked after in a genuine fashion. The staff are attentive and caring. My father
has become more alert and active and he sees more of the day despite his dementia clearly advancing to the point that he cannot recognise anyone anymore. But he is safe and cared for that is truly marvellous.

Everyone is lovely here, so friendly and welcoming. My dad is so happy here and enjoys meeting and talking to everyone. The standard of care is high and everyone here is well looked after. Everyone from the carers to the staff knew all the resident's names. After looking at lots of other care homes
this one is definitely the best one for everything you need for your family members to be cared for.

According my partner, everything was satisfactory. He found the staff extremely helpful. Had a lovely bright room which I am sure was kept clean. We came to visit a friend recently admitted to the home, going to the dining room with her for lunch. Obviously, our experience of Edenbridge Manor from one visit is limited. We arrived at about 12 noon and left at about 3 pm. I cannot comment on all the issues below.
We were impressed with the variety
of the menu, what I had was pleasant and tasty though the portions seemed all one size, which was a waste as far as our friend was concerned. We had been able to book a lunch with ease, though we gave little notice, phoning only the previous afternoon. The staff is very friendly.

When we visited our friend today, I was most impressed by what I saw. We had an excellent lunch in the well-appointed dining room. Good attention to my one food 'allergy' and helpful service. The portions were a sensible size for elderly people, whose appetites are often small. Staff were on hand to
answer queries and were pleasant and friendly. Visitors and residents were all treated with friendly respect. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.759)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.759) out of 10 for Edenbridge Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.759 for Edenbridge Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (278 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 328 Ratings = 4.759
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Edenbridge Manor Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
