My father has been a resident at Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home for the past six months. He is being extremely well cared for. The staff are extremely professional, friendly, attentive and certainly go the extra mile to ensure his needs are met and that he is well looked after. He loves the daily
activities, particularly the general knowledge quizzes. He has a really lovely room and the food (very important for him) is truly outstanding.
He celebrated his 100th Birthday this week. The staff at Raleigh Manor went out of their way to make it a truly memorable occasion. They invited representatives from his old WW2 army division and the British Legion to attend and present him with his card from the King. The Salvation Army and a local singer entertained us with his favourite WW2 songs. A truly memorable occasion, one that we will all remember for a long time.
It is a great relief for all the family to know that he is in a safe place and is being extremely well looked after.

We chose Raleigh Manor for our Mother when her dementia meant that she was no longer coping safely at home. We were impressed by both the staff and the environment and neither let us down. Mum found it difficult to settle, but despite these challenges, we found the hardworking staff found time in their
busy schedules to bond with Mum and give her precious moments of contentment in amongst the confusion and distress the illness was causing her. In fact, what is particularly impressive about Raleigh Manor, is that all staff appear to work well together, with a can-do attitude, to create a positive atmosphere that is beneficial to residents and family alike - from the reception staff to admin, housekeeping, management and, of course, the special carers themselves. Mum received end-of-life care in her room at Raleigh Manor, and we will be forever grateful for the fact that she was allowed to die with dignity in her own bed surrounded by people who clearly cared deeply about her.

Raleigh Manor was originally chosen for respite care following a hospital stay. We chose it without even visiting it as we live so far away. Naturally, we were very concerned as to what it would actually be like. We have been so lucky and cannot rate it highly enough. The transfer from hospital went
smoothly and everyone has been so kind and helpful from the cleaners, kitchen staff, carers, handyman and management. Nothing is too much trouble and we all felt that Mum was being well cared for and loved, so much so that she has been there 9 months now. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Raleigh Manor for all that they do for mum and for being there for us too.

On the surface, this home is first-class - great facilities, staff etc. However, after spending several hours/days there, found it to be critically under-staffed. Carers were stretched to the limit (sometimes only getting 15-minute breaks for 12-hour shift!) I found I had to be there to ensure Mum ate/drank
enough. Residents cannot be given proper care with the current staff/resident ratio. Food quality is disappointing too, despite the menu appearing good.

Today I visit my dear, close friend and I noticed how lovely and cared for were the communal gardens, the borders had beautiful flowers, new wood chips so I was happy to see this. Also, the hanging baskets were very nice too. Thank you.

Following a fall, my elderly mother spent 12 days at Raleigh Manor Care Home as a stepping stone between the hospital and returning home. It was a positive experience. The manager was very helpful with the swift transfer from the hospital. The carers were kind, attentive and encouraging, especially
on days Mum wasn't feeling too good. Her room, access to the garden and facilities were first class and all the staff were polite and helpful.

My parents have spent the last 5 weeks at Raleigh Manor Care Home receiving care. We came across Raleigh Manor by accident whilst looking for a modern purpose-built care facility in East Devon. What a blessing it was to find Raleigh Manor, we had found the sanctuary we had been looking for, for our
parents. On arrival you are faced with an impressive modern building which only exceeds expectations when you go inside, the look of a 5-star hotel springs to mind. The bright decor, lounges, rooms and facilities are second to none, we have not seen better. All the rooms are well appointed with ensuite wet rooms off wide, open corridors. The kitchen team manage to produce an impressive selection of cooked meal options on a daily menu sheet. But, over and above the building and the rooms are fantastic team. From the top down all the the team are warm, welcoming, friendly, professional and caring, treating our parents like individuals who matter. We cannot rate Raleigh Manor highly enough.

This was my mum's first ever respite stay, as she was only diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year. She was made to feel very welcome and the food was lovely and is looking forward to going again.

My mother spent four weeks at the home for respite care. The homes facilities were excellent. Rooms were very clean and well equipped.
The staff were so polite, supportive and showed genuine care, empathy and respect to my mother and myself. I was made to feel very welcome at every visit. Nothing
was too much trouble.
The meals showed great variety and looked attractive. Daily activities were offered if you wanted to participate.
I felt very reassured leaving my mother in a safe, happy environment. Thank you.

Raleigh Manor has provided excellent care for my mother who suffers from dementia. She had a trial stay for respite earlier in 2022 and the whole process of admitting her was made so much easier by the professional understanding manner that the Raleigh Team showed. They were very flexible which was
wonderful as it was not an easy time. My mother has now lived at Raleigh Manor for over nine months and it was the best decision we made. We feel very relieved and lucky she is looked after by a team of carers that really do seem to care and I can tell they have really got to know and understand my mum.
The level of care my mother needs has sadly increased but the team have responded really well. The little touches are valued too - a lovely homemade cake for her birthday for example. The food appears very good and the dining room at lunchtime has a lovely atmosphere. There are more activities running and it's great to see pics on Facebook and get a sense of what is going on!

My husband spent two weeks at Raleigh Manor receiving respite care.
The facilities were excellent, the rooms well appointed, and the meals attractive with a choice of menu.
This was his first experience with respite care, and his initial anxiety and reserve were treated with empathy and encouragement.

staff always appeared to be genuinely caring, and I was made welcome when I visited.
A range of activities was available for those who wished to take part, and I felt reassured that he was in a safe place for the duration of his visit.

Amazing welcome by everyone. I left mum in the care of such lovely carers whilst I went on a two week holiday. I was able to relax without worrying about mum which was worth its weight in gold. I have worked as a Chef for many years in the restaurant world but decided I wanted to move in a different direction. Being Head Chef at Raleigh Manor is more like cooking for a very large family. Food is a very important part of life at Raleigh Manor and I love the personal touch this enables.
