Review from N D (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 26 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Review is for the last six months I've been visiting my mother in law.
Facilities - Seems good from what I've seen.
Care / Support - Seems ok, but on occasions we've had to request support. Eg toilet rolls in the room.
Cleanliness - On the surface all appears good. But when you look deeper the cleanliness could be better. Looking under the bed doesn't look like that's been cleaned recently. Shower drain doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned.
Treated with dignity - For my MiL all seems good.
Food and Drink - Meals look good for what I've seen.
Staff - Good, but not enough of them. Seen other residents waiting for assistance on many occasions, one was waiting to be changed (nappy) and even asked me to assist.
Activities - Don't seem to push the residents into joining in. Need another couple of Kate's.
Management - Good from my experience.
Safety and security - No issues.
Rooms - Got everything, just needs cleaning a bit better.

Could do with air conditioning throughout.

My Dad is well looked after @ Oxford Manor. The staff are lovely and very caring towards my father. The food could be a lot better and my Dad has gone off eating when he used to have a good appetite. The care home can get very hot in this weather and some air conditioning really should be installed.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. My husband does not take part in as many activities as I could wish, but one cannot make him do so.

My impression of Oxford Manor Care Home is generally good. The nursing care is paramount in our thoughts for how our elderly and unwell mother is looked after. So far, we have been fortunate to encounter staff and carers who are all dedicated, but some appear better trained than others, some are more proactive than others, and some are more knowledgeable. I believe all the team here do have the interests of residents at heart and while improvements are available, we are for now pleased with the provisions made and the care environment.

I'm new to this hole care home stuff, but I think the staff are all very polite and welcoming to visitors and to my mum.
The rooms are all good with modern features. The washing of clothes could do with some work as mum ended up with the rong clothes.

Im a bit shocked by what is provided and the extras that need further payment eg: hair cuts. Over all very plesent place to be.

My elderly mother is always happy to be in respite in Oxford Manor Care Home, even if she creates a fuss about going as her generation often have a negative idea of what care homes were like in the past. She settles in well and thrives with all the fuss and attention she is given by the lovely staff. She enjoys the mealtimes immensely and likes watching the activities even if she no longer joins in. She often doesn't want to leave.

The staff and management locally have stabilised after an extended period of high turnover and now provide sympathetic and patient focussed care. Mum is well cared for and receives the medical and physical support she needs and deserves and that I am unable to provide.

Whilst I accept that this is a business providing vital care, a 46% rise in fees charged in under three years is distressing and this ignores new additional support payments claimed directly by the care home.

Overall Experience

Since the age of 5, I have visited and then worked in the care field. I am now in my 80's. In recent years it has been depressing to see (the improved care my generation brought in), care, facilities & standards slipping back. Oxford Manor gives me hope and should be held as a beacon! How refreshing to come to Oxford Manor Care Home to find a lovley, spacious environment, very well designed for purpose, and spotless. What was most encouraging was the staff attitude. Staff make or break good care. The staff here were immediately welcoming, treating visitors in a cheerful manner. They treat residents with warmth and respect. If I ever need care, this is the kind of care I would want.

Oxford Manor in Didcot offers excellent care. My dad is there on a permanent basis and my mum has recently stayed for respite recuperation.

The nursing and care staff are friendly and helpful.

The management team are friendly, knowledgeable, extremely helpful and supportive.

The atmosphere is really positive with residents encouraged to join in and welcome visitors and newbies.

The activities coordinator is committed to offering the best opportunities for the residents and actively encourages participation.

The food is very good with a great chef who is hands on in serving residents and understanding their needs and preferences.

The setting is clean and well kept with easy access to the garden where applicable for residents.

I would definitely recommend this home.

Mum and Dad have been living at Oxford Manor care home since December. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for all the care and support they receive. Mum and Dad both have individual complex needs , which the staff endeavour to help and support them on a daily basis. My Mother has been in Oxford Manor for over a Year, When she arrived from another carehome she was very unwell, and with much less capacity than she has now. With the encouragement and support from the brilliant careteam she is now doing really well. She's now really happy, Well looked after and embracing her what has to be life nearer to all her family. We as a family can't thank the carehome enough for the transformation and independence she now has.
