The Poets Nursing Home

The Poets is a beautiful place. The facilities are great and the staff - on the whole - very good. Where it falls down to some extent is in regard to food (more especially food that has to be served at level 5 and below, where the word monotonous springs to mind) and communication. Hence only 3 stars for management. Also, the care - the nursing - tends to be re-active rather than pro-active - but this is true of many / all (?) nursing homes in my experience. So, good overall.

I came here 2 weeks ago, because I wanted some convalescent care after a stay in hospital. I have been very comfortable and feel well cared for. I was fortunate that Poets had a room available, and that I am able to extend my stay on a weekly basis- I appreciate this flexibility. There is a good staff/guest ratio, and staff are helpful, friendly + professional!

Had the care she has received been other than of the highest standard, she would no longer be with us.

The carers park up residents in a mish mash manner i.e. pathways to garden get blocked so mobile wheelchair users have difficulty getting out.

Following open heart surgery my family felt that I needed some respite care so my daughter and her partner, who live in Worthing, searched for a suitable care home. I am so glad they chose The Poets - it's exactly what I needed - complete rest, meals provided plus endless cups of tea, all cleaning carried out around your needs. Such caring and friendly staff and so many of them. The room I was in is so spacious and overlooked the garden with an exceptional willow tree. At dusk I would wait for the squirrels and foxes to slink by. The bistro is a lovely place to entertain visitors, who were really impressed as it is nothing like what they were expecting of a care home. Needless to say, my recovery went well - thank you so much.

We are blown away by the standard of care at The Poets in Worthing . After the trials of a sub standard care home and recurrent hospital stays it feels like we have landed in paradise . It's such a relief to know mum is being cared for in such a highly professional deeply caring and skilled way . As a retired doctor myself I can confirm the clinical care is outstanding , leadership incredible and the communication and team work is a wonder to behold . The staff are across everything and make a difficult and challenging job look easy . Can't praise highly enough . We are and will forever be , so grateful .

The Poets gave the best end of life care we could have hoped for. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. The whole environment made visiting a sick relative so much easier. I will be forever grateful that there was a room available for my sister.

My mother had a severe stroke and was already suffering with Alzheimer's and as a result of the stroke she required 24 hour care. The Poets home have been caring and professional in their delivery of care to my mother.

The home is very clean, welcoming with professional caring staff. My mother is part of a community where she is included in all activities despites the issues she has . The staff ensure she feels included in everything from morning coffee to afternoon activities.

Without this home she would not live the active life she does.

The staff know the name of each patient and their family. We are always made to feel welcome. There are no restrictions on visiting.

The senior team are approachable. They take time to listen to concerns taking the seriously and give feedback on actions taken.

I would have preferred that my mum had not needed care but am so glad she found this home for its care and support. I would wholly recommend this home to anyone looking.

Can't speak highly enough of our experience at the poets for my mum. Staff are extra special, so kind and caring to mum and us. Level of care is brilliant - very thoroughly across mums physical and mental needs and preferences and reactive as they change. Very much keeping me in the loop with everything. It's such a bright, airy space and the activities are varied and engaging. We have experienced one other care home (not local) which we thought was good at the time but this is leaps and bounds ahead of that experience. Thanks so much for everything you do.

Pupose built, new nursing home designed to provide optimum care. Bright, airy common areas with a great outlook onto the well designed garden area. The Bistro provides an excellent communal area for residents, relatives and staff well designed bedrooms, all with ceiling hoists and underfloor heating, airflow matresses to prevent bed sores. Great staff, who show true compassion. Excellent regular visits from physiotherapy and GP practice.

All the staff are kind,caring and make my husband happy which makes me happy as well.They are friendly as well ,the carers are well trained and seems a happy place to work.The home is very clean and the manager is always helpful and kind.

My father has had a wonderful start to his stay at The Poets. The care has been excellent. The staff are very caring, friendly and everything you would wish for a loved one. The atmosphere in the home is calm and peaceful. The cleanliness is amazing. My father says the food is wonderful. It looks amazing. I am so happy to have found this amazing place and feel confident that my fathers needs are being fully met in a wonderful environment.

My review is nothing bad to say about this home staff and seniors are all nice. Most of the staffs are very hard working but one or two lay-back. I have notice, which is normal in every care homes. I also want to say thank you to everyone supporting Len staffs nurses and management. Also want to say I am very happy that Len is very happy to be here ones saying thanks and god bless you all.

Food looks amazing and mum is eating better than she has in months.

My mother moved to The Poets when she was no longer able to look after herself in her own home. The care that she was given by the kind and thoughtful staff was excellent . The domestic facilities such as laundry was very efficient, the meals and snacks were tasty and well-presented. When my mother needed end of life care, her care plan was adapted seamlessly and she received the very best care and support in surroundings with which she had become familiar and where our family were able to stay with while the nursing staff continued with their care, of my mother. I felt like the The Poets was my home too!

The very welcoming building is matched by the very warm welcome given by the reception staff. Our son has now stayed at The Poets three times and on each occasion we were made to feel welcome and nothing seemed to be any trouble. The care staff are fantastic and clearly enjoy their working environment. Our son has complex needs and the range of staff from the care assistants to the senior nursing staff that the home has ensures that he gets excellent care for the duration of his stay. Without doubt the organising and management of the home is equal to the care staff. The management are always available to discuss things and the housekeeping manager is kind and caring and checks with us frequently that things are as we want them. We would strongly recommend anyone to this home and we hope to continue visiting for respite care in the future.
