I live abroad but was home for Christmas and got to see Mum in her new home at Chartwell Manor Care Home. We had moved her from a different nursing home a few months back. Seeing Mum in her new environment took my breath away. It was a night and day difference from what I was used to. Mum now has daily, meaningful activities to look forward to that involve all the things that she loves to do, cooking, flower arranging and having people to talk to. The staff are all so friendly and it's clear that caring for their residents is more than just a job, it's a passion.

I am glad that we took a leap of faith to move her. The transition was smooth and my sister and I never saw Mum struggle in any way due to the constant attention she is given. The only time that Mum is in her room now is to sleep. The rest of the time she sits in lovely lounges and has company and things to do.

Overall Experience

My husband spent the last week of his life at Chartwell Manor Care Home and we are full of gratitude for the care and attention he received. He had been languishing in hospital for several weeks and we hoped that with some rest, peace and good food at Chartwell he would gain enough strength to come home but sadly that was not to be. His arrival there was a happy day where he was greeted with a delicious lunch, a beer and a team of friendly, caring staff and the relief is something we will always remember. In his last days he was treated with dignity and compassion and we, his family, were made to feel welcome and able to be there whenever we wished, which was very important to us. We were sorry he was not able to enjoy all the facilities on offer but that we were able to all be together in comfort is invaluable.

Overall Experience

I moved my dad to Chartwell Manor Care Home following a fall preventing him from continuing to live in his own home. A situation difficult for him. The transition has been made as smooth as possible with staff getting to know and understand my dad's needs with sensitivity, kindness and respect. The structure to the day and the opportunities provided for both stimulation and physical well-being are appreciated. The inclusion of family visitors is welcome. I feel comforted in knowing Dad is clean, safe and well looked after in his twilight years.

Thank you for your lovely review. I'm so pleased we were able to help and get Dad moved into Chartwell Manor with as little disruption to him as possible. He is an absolute delight!

Overall Experience
This care home is immaculate as it is new.
The staff are helpful and friendly, I am not a resident but I am always made to feel very welcome, the other evening we were all included in a cocktail-tasting evening which my mum enjoyed.
We transferred Mum here from elsewhere and she is much happier and looks healthier than she has in a long time.

I would happily recommend this place.

Overall Experience

This care home is full of carefully thought-out details which make life easier for much older people, for example, large handles to lean on to flush the toilet. Privacy is considered, for example, a shower curtain in the wet room should unexpected visitors arrive. I visited prior to the home taking residents but my experience was that the interests and needs of my relative were noted and remembered. Staff were very welcoming and were pleased to work at this home. And I noted that each resident receives a welcome basket of gifts when they arrive. Thoughtful. The home also has very good links established with the surrounding community and has programmes to enrich life and help residents to be as active as they can be, both physically and mentally.
