Welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent care. Residents are treated with respect. Spacious corridors, light, airy building and tastefully furnished. We're delighted with my friend's improvement in health since she moved in.

My grandad has recently spent time in The Mayfield Care Home and I was blown away by the exceptional service and fantastic staff. Every single member of staff is professional, and polite and went above and beyond to make his stay there the best it could be. Highly recommend!

My wife resides in the dementia unit at Mayfield Care Home. For the first time in years she is settled, happy and well cared for. I am so impressed with the standard of care that she receives, which is far superior to other homes which she has stayed in. The staff-to-resident ratio is greater, the rooms
are spacious and spotless also well decorated. The domestic staff are very efficient and the communal rooms are clean, warm and welcoming. Meals are varied and well-prepared. The care staff are exceptional, kind and considerate with professional approach and have genuine concern for the residents. The management team are experienced, approachable and dedicated. I would certainly recommend the Mayfield to anyone wanting the best for their relatives.

The thought of putting my parents into respite was really daunting. Would they be happy, well looked after, would they fit in? From the moment I entered Mayfield Care home, saw the facilities and met the staff I knew everything was going to be fine. All the staff were kind, professional, reassuring
and above all supportive to us all and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities are beautiful and flexible to meet everyone's needs and the activities varied with everyone encouraged to take part. I cannot thank all the staff enough for the wonderful time my parents have shared together in The Mayfield.

I came to visit my mother and stepdad during their respite stay. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I asked a member of staff if someone could cut their nails and he was with us within 30 minutes and arranged a podiatrist for their toenails.

stay, the care and more importantly the food.

My father has absolutely enjoyed his two-week respite stay. We will certainly be booking further stays in the near future.

I came for a two-week trial and went home for four weeks but decided after one week it was just what I had been looking for. I came back permanently after one week at home. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and all the staff are always happy to listen and chat. Feels like home from home. I would recommend
coming here to anyone I know thinking of moving into a care home. I have been here for three months and am still very happy.

My mother is treated with such kindness by all the staff here and the level of care and support she receives is excellent. Her room is always beautifully clean and furnished with high-quality fittings and she is always clean and nicely dressed. The facilities for residents are very good and the whole
place has a lovely homely atmosphere. She especially enjoys the first-rate meals and the home-cooked cakes and biscuits (plus plenty cups of tea!) Staffing levels mean that there is always someone available to spend one-to-one time with mum if necessary. High standards throughout.

I must admit when I first came into the Mayfield Care Home I was worried. I must say it is a lovely place. I came in for my husband so we could be together. I don't regret it. It is very clean and the food is amazing. What more could I want? The staff are caring and helpful. I haven't stopped eating
since I arrived!

I was really nervous about putting my husband in for respite for a week as we are both fairly young but unfortunately, he has had several strokes. As soon as we went to look round the Mayfield I got a good vibe. It didn’t feel like a care home. It felt more like a hotel which kind of eased the pressure.
On the day that my husband arrived as soon as I pushed him through the door, he was enveloped with love. All the staff made a fuss of him and introduced themselves myself and my husband. It made it so much easier when I had to leave to know that the staff had my husband’s welfare and interests at heart. Nothing was too much trouble for every single one of them. I’ve worked in the care industry for well over 30 years mainly in the NHS but I was overwhelmed by how well they worked as a team. Even the owner mixed with the residents on a daily basis checking they were ok etc. I have been in some grotty care homes either working myself or as a visitor but this care home restored my faith.

My mum has been in the home for one month and has settled well. The staff could not have been more helpful. The accommodation and food are of excellent quality.

The care home is like a five-star hotel. We had no hesitation for Dad to come here. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure the residents and visitors have everything they need. It is spotless and well-equipped.

My parents moved into the home a couple of months ago, they were the first couple to move in. Previously they had been in sheltered accommodation but my father's condition deteriorated and the facility were unable to provide suitable care. From the start the service and standard of care at Mayfield
has been excellent. Mother who is not the easiest person to deal with settled in very quickly. Unfortunately, my father's condition continued to deteriorate despite the excellent care from the doctor and the care home staff. Sadly he died a couple of weeks ago at the age of 98. Members of the family were with him throughout the day when he was obviously waning. They decided eventually to go home and sleep, being exhausted, a member of the Mayfield staff stayed with him until he passed away. 10 days later after the burial and church service Mayfield provided accommodation and catering for a reception attended by about 45 people, friends and family who had come to pay their respects.

Tobyn Dickinson

After a successful 15-year career in investment management, Tobyn moved into care in 2020 to pursue his passion for improving the lives of the elderly. This involved co-founding Elmfield Care, a luxury care home provider that commissioned two homes in Wiltshire. In 2022, he started Cromwell Care, another luxury care home provider that opened The Mayfield Care Home in Whitby in March 2023. Tobyn is passionate about building a talented, caring team that is aligned with The Mayfield’s values and focused on providing the very best care and hospitality to our residents.
