I have been a qualified nurse for over 17 years and that includes 14 years of experience working in the healthcare industry working with general nursing, Dementia care and young physically disabled and acquired brain injuries. I have had the opportunity to work in a regional role where I covered homes in Wales, Scotland, and England. I am looking forward to being a part of a diverse, modern, and dynamic management team at New Care. I am also excited about building a new team that will deliver high-standard person-centred care in line with the regulators.
I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 2012 aged 40. I had a previous career managing pubs but have always wanted to be a nurse.
As a Mental Health Nurse, I worked in a variety of settings but found my passion was working with older people in care homes. I have been working in care homes for the last 8 years, learning so much as I have gone along. I joined Newcare in 2023 as Clinical Lead and am now proud to have the role of Deputy Home Manager.
I love to lead, coach and motivate our brilliant team to be the very best they can be and to provide the very best care for all our residents. We work together as a team to ensure we provide the best person-centred care, seeing the resident as an individual and looking at a holistic approach at all times.
Newcare values very much align with my own putting the resident in the centre of all that we do.
I have been a Registered General Nurse for 11 years, with most of my experience being in Accident & Emergency, where I gained a lot of knowledge in acute situations and all the different health conditions. I then moved to Newcare just over 1 year ago as the nurse for discharge to assess the unit at Statham Manor for a different challenge. After being the nurse for 8 months I applied and, much to my delight, was successful in achieving the role of clinical lead here. I love our wonderful team and am very proud of the care and support we provide to all our residents, families and staff.
In my spare time, I enjoy attending music festivals/gigs and spending time with my family.
