My mother was a resident at Squires Mews for 18 months and over this time. She was well cared for by all staff and enjoyed herself. She made many friends with other residents and members of staff. We her family were always made to feel welcome whenever we were visiting, and never felt that we were an
intrusion on the daily routine of the home.

After our family tours around Squires Mews my dad was warmly welcomed. Both he and us as a family have been supported by reassuring updates on how he has settled in. He is content which is a great reassurance. We enjoy our visits using the garden and coffee lounge. Dad has engaged in the offered activities.

I can't recommend squires mews enough.
My nan originally came for a few weeks respite but very quickly decided she would stay.
She is really happy and so are we knowing that is she is surrounded by the best people. They all go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble.

My mother stayed at Squires Mews for eight months. She has dementia and was very worried and scared, but the team showed exceptional empathy and skills in looking after her. There was also so much for Mum to do, tailored activities and social sessions.

Mum has settled at Squires Mews so quickly. She loves it. She tells me that she likes the staff and they have been so kind and friendly. She has made new friends and, to tell you the truth, she looks younger, happier and relaxed with her new life.

The home is beautiful very clean and well decorated more like a hotel than a home the staff are friendly and very caring mum recently broke her leg and the staff have been amazing and accommodating in helping her get back from hospital. I love the way talk too mum and include her in decisions.

My Mother was rather anxious about staying for this two-week respite stay. I am delighted to report she's enjoyed the experience and will not only stay again but plans to move in permanently when the time is right.

Mum came into care in January 2024 and, after a long search, we found Squires Mews. For the first time since we lost my Dad, she's been happy. This place is wonderful! The staff are kind, compassionate and incredibly caring. Mum is safe, happy and secure and has made some great friends in here. I cannot

We brought our 98-year-old Aunt to Squires Mews 8 months ago and have been delighted with the move. The residents, staff, and facilities have exceeded our expectations and - as our Aunt says - "It's more like a 5-star hotel than a care home.".

My partner could not have wished for a more enjoyable and relaxing stay during her three weeks of respite care. The management and staff made us most welcome on our arrival, and couldn't have been more attentive throughout my partner's stay. I have not seen a home in a higher state of cleanliness. Should
she need further care we will not hesitate to return to Squires Mews.

Entering Squires Mews establishes an immediate welcome alongside esteemed professional staff. The overall ambience is one of a soothing atmosphere creating excitement and interest. Rooms are clearly identified, each offering opulence throughout. Safety is utmost in the staff's care with their voices
delivering a cheerful, comforting yet approachable tone, inviting trust. Staff are clearly aware of residents' needs and constantly achieve an extremely proficient level of care, informing and liaising with family thus offering assurance and two-way respect. Staff demonstrate personal interest and show compassion toward my mum-in-law. Throughout each day there's a comprehensive variety of activities on offer all differentiated thus catering for a wide range and delivered by enthusiastic, friendly and encouraging staff, making residents feel joyous in their motivation and achievements. Personal hygiene is fulfilled to the highest standard by the carers, whilst being constantly vigilant regarding possible health dangers. As many of the staff provide skilful attributes behind the scenes e.g. housekeeping deliver laundered clothes and maintain cleanliness throughout. Dietary needs are catered for by staff delivering support and reassurance to ensure Mum-in-law's health needs are met. Every staff member takes the time to ensure my mum-in-law's needs are constantly met whilst delivering a friendly chat to guarantee she's happy.

My parents have now been residents at Squires Mews for several weeks and on behalf of my family we continue to be impressed with the care and support they receive. In particular, we are impressed with the clinical response when issues and incidents arise. Also the engagement with the wellbeing activities.
We like the down-to-earth nature of the staff, no hint of 'institutionalisation'. The open house approach to visitors is also welcomed.

Squires Mews is a wonderful care home. My mum was there for two months for respite care to give me a break. The staff are friendly and welcoming to their residents and relatives. Everywhere is very clean and well cared for. The garden is beautiful and there are lots of activities for Mum to join and
enjoy the choice of food is excellent. I could go on holidays with peace of mind knowing that Mum was in good hands and being well cared for.

My mother has been a permanent resident since March 2024. The staff have welcomed her and us too, as a family. The home is a happy and friendly place to visit. Always immaculate and the food looks very appetising too. The activities and entertainment on offer are great. Something for everyone, catering
for all tastes. The staff are so caring and helpful. Mum calls them her friends. Hardworking but always making time to chat and listen to residents. Overall, very very happy.

As a friend of a resident,
Squires Mews is a wonderful care home. All the staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble, a cuddle when needed, encouragement to join in the great activities they provide, there is something for everyone, regardless of ability,
The choice of food is excellent,
the rooms are like a 5-star hotel, the comfort in the relaxation areas is peaceful and calming, and first class.
The staff not only support the residents I have had great support from them too.
I highly recommend Squires Mews, and if you are looking for a caring peaceful care home with plenty to do then look no further.

A good experience and served my purpose as respite care after surgery. Everyone was very kind and caring but I did feel sorry for the girls who needed more than one pair of hands at times.

We cannot fault the care and support my sister-in-law has received since coming to Squires Mews. She has come on leaps and bounds since she came out of hospital and settled in really well. The staff are really friendly and helpful and make us feel very welcome. The only drawback when visiting is the
lack of parking. That is the only negative comment we have about Squires Mews. Otherwise, excellent!

Josie Thomas

Job Title: Customer Service Manager Joined: 2015

Josie has worked for Avery for 8 years, initially at Head office, then moved to Squires Mews in January 2023.


Josie loves working and meeting new residents and their families and getting to know them. Moving into a care home is a big step for the resident and the family so it’s nice to be the welcome face and the point of contact and being able to reassure both parties. Customer service is paramount and I believe doing the little things goes a long way. This could be the welcome gift, remembering details about the family and what is important to the resident means we listen and care. Josie loves her job as Customer Service Manager and hopes this shows in her daily work.

Lorraine

Lorraine Lawrence

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2022

Lorraine joined Squires Mews in December 2022 as an administrator. Lorraine has been an administrator in a care setting for the last 6 years.

My professional background is one of finance administration for the Public sector, managing regional finance teams, handling payment and debt collection, and attaining NVQ level 5 for leadership and project management. This background allows me to fulfil the administrator role and support the rest of the management team.

Lorraine enjoys meeting the new residents and families joining us at Squires Mews and helping them navigate the paperwork involved when moving in. Getting to know our residents and hearing their life stories means we soon feel like a large family living and supporting each other.

Char Bradbury

Job Title: Senior Carer Joined: 2022

Char is the Head of of Infection Control Link Practitioner at Squires Mews. Char had the privilege of joining Squires in December 2022 as the home prepared to open its doors to Residents and Families. She is currently doing her NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and hopes to progress at Squires.


Char started at her career at Squires as Head Housekeeper and is now a Senior Carer on our Memory floor. Char loves working with the residents, staff and family to make a happy, safe environment for all.
She recently started the Squires Mews Choir and is all for her residents having a good time.


Working in a caring environment no matter what role we Lead; we have the reward of getting to know our residents. Soon to be 59 residents, who they are, their families, their likes and their dislikes, their favourite tipple or tune to sing along to. This is what Char promotes to her team -"We can work, and we can have fun and spend time talking as we work".


Seeing residents smile is what makes Char's job worthwhile, it can be a life-changing experience from what they are used to and if we can make that step a little easier for both residents and their families to feel supported and welcomed, we can ensure that we can all add a little shine to each other lives.

Natalie Norman

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2022

Natalie joined Avery in December 2022 as Deputy Manager. Natalie has worked in the care industry for over 20 years in various different roles gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge.


Natalie enjoys passing her knowledge on to other team members and is proud to be part of the Squires Mews team and watching the home grow.


Natalie enjoys welcoming new residents and getting to know them and their families. Natalie loves her job in the care sector and is pleased to be part of the team.

Nigel

Nigel Bird

Job Title: Maintenance Operative Joined: 2022

Nigel joined Squires Mews in December 2022.


He is responsible for the maintenance and care of the building and all the odd jobs that need doing alongside checking all the standards are up to date.


Nigel has worked in various care environments doing various roles from Management to training and Head of Estates.


He enjoys the variety of his role and enjoys having a chat with the residents and staff.

Lucie

Lucie

Job Title: Clinical Lead Joined: 2024

Lucie has worked for Avery for 14 years with a small break in various roles and Homes. She joined Squires Mews in January 2024. Lucie started as a care assistant, went on to be a Senior and Deputy. She enjoys working with the staff and interacting with the residents and their families.


In Lucie's spare time she likes to spend time with her family and two grown up daughters. When she is not doing that Lucie enjoys a glass of pinot with her friends.


Lucie is looking forward to working at Squires.

Heidi Smith

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2015

Heidi has worked for Avery for 10 years in various roles but has been a registered Manager for 7 years. She has worked in the Healthcare industry for 30 years.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She always looks forward to her annual family holiday to Cornwall.
Her favourite colour is pink and she loves music, her favourite being Reggae.
