My parents have now been residents at Squires Mews for several weeks and on behalf of my family we continue to be impressed with the care and support they receive. In particular, we are impressed with the clinical response when issues and incidents arise. Also the engagement with the wellbeing activities. We like the down-to-earth nature of the staff, no hint of 'institutionalisation'. The open house approach to visitors is also welcomed.

Squires Mews is a wonderful care home. My mum was there for two months for respite care to give me a break. The staff are friendly and welcoming to their residents and relatives. Everywhere is very clean and well cared for. The garden is beautiful and there are lots of activities for Mum to join and enjoy the choice of food is excellent. I could go on holidays with peace of mind knowing that Mum was in good hands and being well cared for.

My mother has been a permanent resident since March 2024. The staff have welcomed her and us too, as a family. The home is a happy and friendly place to visit. Always immaculate and the food looks very appetising too. The activities and entertainment on offer are great. Something for everyone, catering for all tastes. The staff are so caring and helpful. Mum calls them her friends. Hardworking but always making time to chat and listen to residents. Overall, very very happy.

As a friend of a resident,
Squires Mews is a wonderful care home. All the staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble, a cuddle when needed, encouragement to join in the great activities they provide, there is something for everyone, regardless of ability,
The choice of food is excellent, the rooms are like a 5-star hotel, the comfort in the relaxation areas is peaceful and calming, and first class.
The staff not only support the residents I have had great support from them too.

I highly recommend Squires Mews, and if you are looking for a caring peaceful care home with plenty to do then look no further.

We cannot fault the care and support my sister-in-law has received since coming to Squires Mews. She has come on leaps and bounds since she came out of hospital and settled in really well. The staff are really friendly and helpful and make us feel very welcome. The only drawback when visiting is the lack of parking. That is the only negative comment we have about Squires Mews. Otherwise, excellent!

I can't speak highly enough of Squires Mews and all the staff. I was unable to be a full-time carer for my dad any longer due to his health. Since Dad being here I am able to spend quality time with him. He is happy, safe and very well cared for. Thank you.

My mum has been at Squires Mews for a year now. She's had some health issues most of which are to be expected in someone who is 94 years of age, and more recently she's had some falls. Everyone at Squires Mews has been brilliant with Mum. The care she receives is exemplary and as she's started to need more help and care the staff have stepped up with patience and love. It's very reassuring to all the family to know that she is safe and so well cared for. Every time I visit she asks me to thank everyone on her behalf.

I have had a couple of clients use Squires Mews for respite. I always find the staff helpful and willing to go the extra mile which in turn enables my clients to get the best experience possible during their stay. My aunt stayed here for six weeks of respite care recently and the service and level of care were really good. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for you. The home itself is like an expensive hotel and is kept spotless. My aunt was always encouraged to go to the dining room, to join in with the activities and to spend time in the lovely garden. A massive thank you to you all, especially a certain lady who was always there for a chat.

Josie ThomasJob Title:Customer Service ManagerJoined: 2015

Josie has worked for Avery for 8 years, initially at Head office, then moved to Squires Mews in January 2023.

Josie loves working and meeting new residents and their families and getting to know them. Moving into a care home is a big step for the resident and the family so it’s nice to be the welcome face and the point of contact and being able to reassure both parties. Customer service is paramount and I believe doing the little things goes a long way. This could be the welcome gift, remembering details about the family and what is important to the resident means we listen and care. Josie loves her job as Customer Service Manager and hopes this shows in her daily work.

She recently started the Squires Mews Choir and is all for her residents having a good time.

Working in a caring environment no matter what role we Lead; we have the reward of getting to know our residents. Soon to be 59 residents, who they are, their families, their likes and their dislikes, their favourite tipple or tune to sing along to. This is what Char promotes to her team -"We can work, and we can have fun and spend time talking as we work".

Seeing residents smile is what makes Char's job worthwhile, it can be a life-changing experience from what they are used to and if we can make that step a little easier for both residents and their families to feel supported and welcomed, we can ensure that we can all add a little shine to each other lives.
