On the 1st April of this year my mother celebrated her 99th birthday at the Grove. All the staff were wonderful and made it special for her. We were able to have an excellent meal with her in the private dining room and her godson and his wife were able to join us which made the day even more special
for her. Following on from this my mother was treated to a 'This Is Your Life' presentation which I had helped put together alongside the staff as a surprise, this was I believe to be the first of many for the residents and what a lovely way to find out about someone's life, after all they haven't always been old and I'm sure most were trend setters in their time!
Following the 'This is your life' episode we all went to the Bistro where the chef had produced a birthday cake to share with the other residents, sadly only one candle, the other 98 were deemed to be a fire hazard!
Well done to all the staff for making a special day that much more special with your wonderful care.
Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care HomeThank you for your wonderful comments. It was our honour to help celebrate Mum's 99th birthday with all of the family and close friends. We're glad to hear you enjoyed her special day together. We certainly look forward to producing more 'This is Your Life' presentations in the future.

Dad was cared for superbly during 2 weeks respite care. He was treated with kindness, care, diligence and dignity, by all members of staff during a very challenging time. Family were also looked after greatly, especially on Dad's 90th birthday, making special memories many thanks to Cambridge Grove.
Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care HomeThank you for your fabulous feedback. We were delighted to have Dad stay with us and to welcome you all to our Cambridge Grove family. It was our honour to celebrate his special birthday with you all. This is my first experience of care homes in relation to placing a loved one in one for permanent residential care. I visited a few care homes and found that Cambridge Grove was exceptional and far above any of the others that I saw, in terms of the facilities, the rooms with ensuite shower rooms, the
decor, the space, the food, the number and frequency of activities, and the gardens. I also found the people working there to kind, caring, knowledgeable and supportive. I have no connection to the care home or anyone working there, other than my loved one staying there, but I couldn't be happier that I managed to find this home for my loved one.
Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care HomeThank you for your wonderful feedback. We're glad to hear that you have compared our home to others and have made the decision that Cambridge Grove is the perfect setting for your loved-one to live. We work hard to ensure our home is a happy place for residents, relatives and staff and we encourage everyone to join in with our wide variety of activities. We look forward to seeing you again, very soon.

This was the first time I had been to a care home and not only was I impressed by the kindness of the staff. I was also impressed by the kindness of the staff. I was also impressed by the design of the home, the decor and the architecture. The home provides that perfect basis for many activities, none
of which are forced on the clients. All in all a wise choice for a residential or respite stay.

My father came for respite care after a stay in hospital. He was looked after with care and kindness by all members of the staff. The facilities were excellent, food was good. I would happily recommend Cambridge Grove Care Home to friends and family should respite care or indeed, a care home be needed.
I felt reassured when I left him after visits that he was in a safe and caring place.

My mother spent two weeks in Cambridge Grove for respite care after a hospital stay. The whole experience from start to finish for us as a family was very positive despite the inevitably emotional circumstances. The team were responsive, kind and welcoming. They supported our family as we reviewed the
options and they were attentive to our mother's needs and preferences. The staff work hard to ensure that residents are given opportunities to socialise and the quality of care was good. Excellent record keeping meant we were kept well informed of our mother's progress. At the end of the two weeks, mum was well enough to return home but we would not hesitate to reconsider the Cambridge Grove for future stays - either for respite or permanent residence.
Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience with Cambridge Grove. We're delighted to hear that your family felt supported during you mum's stay with us. We appreciate your kind words and are pleased to know that your mother was able to return home feeling better. My father in law moved into Cambridge Grove Care Home in October 2024 following a stay in hospital due to acute delirium. He has early stage Alzheimer's.
We chose Cambridge Grove after visiting a few homes in the area and it was a great decision. The staff are excellent, both the managerial and front
of house staff, to the carers, and to the cooks and other staff. The manager, a trained nurse, is excellent, as are all his key staff. The whole team are happy and engaged, which makes the place feel welcoming.
Visiting the home, you see residents busy either doing a scheduled activity or talking to each other, visitors, or staff.
Meals are good, we've eaten there a few times ourselves. Facilities are new, it was built under the manager's supervision a year ago. It's furnished like a luxury hotel.
We're moving my father in law back to his home, and the team have supported this goal strongly. The fact he knows he can go back is giving him confidence to try moving home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.899) out of 10 for Cambridge Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 79 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 79 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.899 for Cambridge Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (853 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 938 Ratings = 4.899
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cambridge Grove Care Home is based on 79 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 79 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
