After 3 weeks in hospital recovering from a fractured femur Mum decided she would like to go for respite care. Potter House was the second care home that we viewed and as soon as we stepped inside we knew it would be the right place for mum. All the staff are very kind & helpful.

Mum has only been with you for a short while but I feel she has settled in really well. She had been quite isolated at home. Now she joins in a lot of the activities and making new friends. She says its like living in a five star hotel. The staff a wonderful and even with there busy schedule still find time to chat.

I know of know other place where the staff gives you happy welcome and in very short time sit you down with a cup tea and a slice cake. My experience since my husband moved in had been very reassuring that he is and will be very well cared for by the well trained and passionate caring staff.his room is well equipped with all he needs. And like the rest of the care home it's spotlessly clean. The menu is changed daily and looks very appetising. My husband always clears his plate. The residence.also have access.to baskets of choc bars, biscuits, fresh fruit and many different drinks placed around the home.
The home has many activities areas and quiet areas for those who don't want to join in. The care home has lovely decor and comfy furniture. The safe garden is well set out making a lovely place to spend time to sit and reminisce with your loved one.

And above all it feels like home

Mum settled well into potters house. Staff went above and beyond to make her feel welcome and reassured her of any worries. The whole staff team are wonderful. They really work hard to ensure residents are cared for and happy. The food is lovely and serves on hot plates, to everyones liking!! Refreshments and goodies are available throughout the day and the homemmaaycakrs are not to be missed!
All the staff work so hard to make potters house a home from home experience .

It's been a bumpy ride with management changes and lack of a social coordinator. But these issues have recently been addressed and things have improved.

My mother has been very well looked after at Potter House since entering a few months ago. She feels safe and she is safe with no more falls since she arrived. The care home is clean and very modern with good facilities. The carers are friendly and chatty and my mother's social life has probably got even better with lots of visitors as well!

We absolutely adore Potter House.
My mum spent a few months as a resident after a fall and then a stroke. She loved the home, her room and the staff.
The family were always welcomed and everybody adores the whole set up.
We would move mum back in tomorrow if we could.
The staff are absolutely amazing as well. Potter House is like an extended family.

5 stars everytime.

I cannot recommend this care home highly enough. From the moment you walk through the doors, there's a genuine sense of warmth, dignity, and professionalism that sets it apart. The staff are not only highly skilled but also incredibly compassionate-they treat residents with respect and kindness, taking the time to understand each individual's needs and preferences.

The facilities are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, creating a safe and welcoming environment. Meals are nutritious and well-prepared, with attention given to dietary requirements and personal tastes. There's also a strong sense of community, with regular activities and social events that keep residents engaged and uplifted.

Communication with families is excellent, offering reassurance and transparency at all times. It's clear that the team truly cares about the wellbeing and happiness of every resident.

My parents moved here for respite as they were having a new boiler installed , so just for 4 weeks. But my father who had dementia loved it. I saw him flourish and he even went on trips out. For him it was life changing. Both parents had been very resistant to a care home but in the end they both enjoyed it. I can rate the staff highly enough, they genuinely care about the residents. My father sadly passed in November 2025 but it was great to see he spent the last months of his life fulfilled.

Review from Imogen B (Relative of Resident) published on 15 September 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
As a family we made the decision to place a family member into the care of Potter house.
We had an initial tour with a staff member and she was extremely helpful, giving us all the relevant details and making us feel very comfortable with the care our relative was going to receive.
The manager has also been a huge help to our family as it's been difficult with other family members living overseas, and has gone out of his way to ensure our relative is happy and settled and keeps regular communication with family.
The home itself is beautiful, very well maintained. All of the staff are lovely and friendly, cannot do enough for the residents or the families who visit.
We love that the home encourages social activities not only for the residents but also for their families to join, it's just a lovely touch.
Cakes are also usually 10/10.
And also a special mention to another staff member, he is helpful and happy whenever we visit and so friendly always!

Would highly recommended potter house!

Coming to visit our old friend for a second time we were again struck by the cleanliness and arrangements and hospitality of the staff.

The gardens however were very disappointing everything wanted a through watering. To walk around and see everything looking so sad cannot be good experience. Such a sad waste of time and money to plant up what were beds with great potential is such a shame. Other than that we were so pleased to see our friends so taken care of.
