Merryfields is a lovely home and my Grandad was very happy here after trying a number of other care homes locally. They accommodated to his individual needs and it always felt like it was home. The staff were all amazing and caring and would go out of their way to help both my Grandad and us. They were
particularly helpful when Grandad was in and out of hospital for various reasons. Merryfields ensured Grandad come return to the home as soon as possible and be cared for in an environment he was familiar with. Merryfields were incredibly supportive during lockdown and in the final weeks of my Grandads life. I would like to Thank Merryfields for everything they did in the final year of my Grandad's life.

We've been incredibly impressed by the warmth, thoughtfulness and care given to my elderly mother. My parent has dementia and, beyond the care given, the creativity shown by the team towards providing engaging activities has been remarkable.

It’s has been a tough 12 months with covid - it has been very hard not being able to see Mum however Merryfields have been fantastic with their daily Facebook posts, videos and arranging FaceTime or WhatsApp calls. Merryfields also adapted very quickly to the government guidelines for visits by enabling
outdoor ones in the summer and then fitting a special screen to enable visits in the winter. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for the very best care for their loved ones especially if they have dementia.

When my granny first entered the care home it was a big change for her, which made many of us family members anxious for how she would settle in. My granny has now been there for nearly 2 years and is very happy. The staff are friendly and always helpful. They have gone above and beyond to make my granny
feel at home and she has a new lease of life which we didn't think she would ever get back. I couldn't be more grateful to all the wonderful staff and the manager for all they have done for my granny and also with us family members. The last year has been difficult with our usual visits having to be put on hold but the home has gone above and beyond to help keep us in contact through phone calls, Facebook, Skype calls and general updates.
I know my granny is well looked after and that to me is priceless, I cannot thank the staff enough, from the cook to the maintenance man, carers and the manager.

I recently moved my father to Merryfields from another local residential home. The staff were very aware of his needs and quickly put a plan together to make sure that his needs were met. Within 24 hours they had contacted the doctor and arranged for my dad to have some appropriate medication, something
that he should have been given months ago. I am very grateful to the staff for improving my dad's life and taking a real interest in him.

I have been a resident here for the last 3 months. I was made to feel welcome from the minute I walked in. I originally had an upstairs bedroom which I liked however I do not like to get too hot so asked if I could have a downstairs room so that I could have a patio door. Without question, I was moved
into a downstairs room. The staff are always friendly and caring. I couldn't fault them. I am very happy here.

My mother sufferer from dementia and has been at Merryfields for almost two years. Throughout her time there she has received a high level of care and compassion for which I cannot thank the staff enough. The past few months have been difficult with the very necessary restrictions of COVID-19, but she
has been well cared for, and the staff have maintained their normal high standards throughout despite the additional pressures they have been under.
I am now able to visit her in the garden where a tented area has been set up for us to sit and chat safely for which I am grateful.

The care delivered is exceptional, the staff are so caring and treat everyone with kindness and dignity.

I was recommended by a care home professional to place my mother at this amazing care home and are not disappointed. The food, hygiene and overall attention to detail are of a very high standard. They have also dealt with the Covid-19 virus very well indeed.

The staff at Merryfields gave exceptional care to my sister, all staff were highly skilled and competent in their roles, never was anything too much for them.
I was treated as part of the ‘family’.
It was very comforting knowing my sister was so well cared for. And I cannot praise the home enough.

My sister and her husband are both suffering from dementia. The standard of care they are receiving at Merryfields is excellent as is their accommodation. I am most impressed by the numbers and quality of staff who care for them and "care" is an appropriate word to describe how attentive and responsive
they are to their every need. My sister and her husband are always immaculately turned out when I visit them and Merryfields is always sparkling clean. They tell me the food is excellent. I am very happy in our choice of Merryfields.

I cannot praise the owner and his team enough. My mother needed respite care urgently and after I visited the home in the morning the owner collected my mum in his minibus along with her wheelchair and riser chair that same afternoon. The team looked after her brilliantly for a week until she was eventually
admitted to hospital.
We will never be able to thank the team enough for what they did at a very difficult and traumatic time for our family. I would not hesitate to recommend Merryfields. You can be sure that your relatives will be well looked after there.

An extremely warm and caring care home.
Our friend was only there for 16 months but it was a very happy time for her.
At 96 she was ready to be looked after. All the staff were always nice and helpful with her, nothing was ever too much trouble and that also included us when we visited, always a lovely
cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Thank you so much.

After visiting several care homes within the area, it became very evident when visiting Merryfields this was the place for my mother. A very warm reception from the management and all staff. We were able to have a tour of the home straight away (all areas). The first thing was how exceptionally clean
the place was. Residents' rooms are spotless with great attention to detail and the needs of the individual. This has continued to be so with my mother having planned activities, dietary requests and above all a happy and safe environment to be in. Merryfields does what it says on the tin and that little bit extra. Exceptional.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.724)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.724) out of 10 for Merryfields is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Merryfields is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Merryfields is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
