Overall Experience

Merryfields looked after my mother for nearly two years. She had a lovely bright airy room with en suite bathroom and we were able to put many of her personal possessions and pictures in the room, making it feel just like her own home. She was suffering from dementia and, at times, as the disease progressed, she could become quite aggressive because of her confusion but she was always treated with dignity, respect and indeed love and the staff could not have been more professional. When we visited we were invariably greeted with a warm welcome, a cup of tea or coffee and often some home made cake which made us feel that we were part of the family. The staff were always full of fun and very caring and there were always activities going on during the day which Mum could join in if she wished, they even organised monthly outings in the good weather. Sadly Mum passed away in December but, again, all the staff were kind and supportive throughout this difficult time with a large group attending her funeral and sending me a beautiful bouquet of roses afterwards. Merryfields was certainly like home from home and we couldn't have found anywhere better. I cannot recommend the care here highly enough.

Overall Experience

As soon as I enter tea/coffee/biscuit/cake is offered. So clean. No smells all staff friendly. Staff take residents out weather permitting. So caring nothing too much trouble. Staff/attended my sister's funeral. Sent me flowers. I was overwhelmed my sister had a happy time there and chose her own company. However the home offered various events to take part in. Could not be bettered.

Very friendly and caring staff - the office door is always open! There are large new rooms with good en-suite bathrooms and some older rooms with varying levels of space in the en-suite facilities. Meals are very good and they constantly offer visitors like me tea and biscuits. They have a good range of morning, afternoon and evening activities and try to get a large group out somewhere every month in the spring to autumn period.
