Overall Experience

My mother became a resident at Ashbourne Court, Andover in November 2015, having been looked after by myself and the help of a care agency who visited 3 times a day. She lived alone and it became quite obvious that she needed to have 24 hour care. We took mum to visit Ashbourne Court and she agreed to stay there after a 2 week respite with them. She has been there now for 7 months. Her condition has deteriorated which was expected in my opinion. The staff are very kind and helpful to her, helping her to get the most out of her day.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ashbourne Court - it is very welcoming. Managers and office staff are helpful and make themselves available. Carers treat residents with kindness and compassion. 'Housekeeping' is very thorough and carried out with a smile. The food always looks inviting and is enjoyed by my mum. The activity program is exceptional - there is a great deal of thought given to what the residents would enjoy and there is something on mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday - this makes for a fun time for everyone.

My uncle has been happy and well cared for in this care home. The place is very well managed, always clean. The staff are always very good and care for the residents. Food is fresh produce, prepared fresh daily, always good. I have already recommended Ashbourne Court to others and their relative has moved in.

Mum's care is excellent! the carers are very attentive and the entertainment in the home is very good. Mum has been kept in really good physical shape and enjoys her "home".

Rajeesh AyyappanJob Title:Home Manager
“You cannot provide the best care by simply reading from a book. You need a kind and caring heart to deliver this. It’s much more than a job and it’s so rewarding when you fulfil the needs of residents.”

Raj has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 20 years and joined Ashbourne Court in 2011. He is a Registered Nurse, who is passionate about elderly care.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

As a nurse, I really enjoy caring for the elderly, so I knew working as the Manager for Ashbourne Court would be a good fit and extremely rewarding. I really enjoy being responsible for organising care that is specifically tailored to residents’ needs. It’s fantastic how the team work together and I really appreciate the support in place to deliver high-quality care to residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?

I consider myself an amateur photographer and enjoy playing cricket.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?

I am incredibly proud of our home achieving an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC report in 2019, and being recognised as an outstanding care home manager!

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?

What are your Qualifications?

I worked as a student nurse at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Once I had qualified, I worked as a nurse before becoming a deputy manager at a care home and then progressed to be a home manager.
