Overall Experience

Ashbourne Court is a place of safety, with supreme care and support given to it's residents by the most wonderfully dedicated staff. The care home manager, Raj and his deputy Sara, run an excellent home which is both extremely professional whilst maintaining a very family-focused ethos. They are both always on hand to talk through any concerns you may have for your loved one. The superb Nursing team alongside the dedicated Carers look after their residents with kindness and gentleness, which comforts family members during what can be emotionally challenging times for families, who have to separate from their loved ones. The facilities are modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

My husband came in here for 2 weeks respite care. He was very well looked after and all the staff were very friendly to him. He was very happy there. All his needs were seen to and I was kept up to date with any changes. I really can't fault anything about the care home. The manager was very attentive and very supportive.

My mother spent 3 years on the 2nd floor of Ashbourne Court managing Alzheimer's. She was part funded by H.C.C. This is an outstanding cafe home - excellent throughout. From our very first visit reconnaissance, the managerial staff, led by a superb manager, were extremely helpful and understanding. The nursing staff and doctor support were thorough, knowledgeable and always compassionate. I cannot fault the caring team, cleaners, entertainment and maintenance staff, not forgetting the kitchen team who created food mum loved. Thank you Ashbourne Court Care Home.

My husband has Parkinson's and dementia with Lewy Bodies which means that as he has deteriorated, he has needed more nursing care. This is provided by an excellent group of nurses and carers. The home has recently undergone renovation, carpets in corridors have been removed meaning it is now noisier and nothing to absorb the sound. Groups of chairs at the end of corridors have been removed, sad because they provided places where residents and families could sit and chat. The owners seem to have lost sight of the fact that this is a peoples home.

My grandma has just spent the last 2 years at Ashbourne Court. She has had five star treatment. From reception to carers. From food to the best entertainment. Staff especially. I cannot of wished for her to have been anywhere else. It not only impacted on her life but made our relationships more fulfilled until her last days. Thank you.

The standard of care provided by the staff is very good and the nursing care is excellent.

My only criticism is that the room is in poor condition and requires attention. Some of the furniture is broken and the desk has seen better days.

My aunt arrived initially needing respite for 2 months in September 2024. But her needs were that she needed long term care so she became a permanent resident and the care home management helped her and the family to get her settled which was very helpful and reassuring at such a difficult time her needs were met adequately and we were very happy with the staff who kept us informed of any issues that arose. We couldn't of asked for any more care and consideration they gave my aunt and us as a family right to her final ending in September 2025.

Ashbourne Court is a very caring nursing home y late father was here nearly 3 years ago, so having seen and had knowledge of the home, that is why when my dear friend need help, I put Ashbourne Court forward to the family. Management is very good, any problems you may have they will listen, take on board and sort it out. We all know that be it family member or friend nobody want to go into a nursing home. So I feel that this nursing home does it's very best to make them feel at home.

My mum has settled very well into the care home due to the quality of care and support she has received. She has built up positive connections with the staff caring for her and other residents, which has been wonderful to see! Mum really enjoys the activities and meals each day - both are great opportunities for socialising and stimulation. From my first visit, I felt the care home had a 'family' feel to it and was the right place for mum to be - our experience fully reflects this. I am so grateful for the support, care and experiences that mum is receiving at Ashbourne Court.

Overall impression of staff, from reception, management, to care assistance and nursing staff is overwhelmingly positive. To put it simply, it's clear they care about the welfare of the residents. Where it lets itself down, in activities, many don't seem to happen, there are not that many or a good range.

My mother has had two weeks of post op respite. The team of staff nurses, manager, healthcare assistants and caring staff have all been kind, caring, professional and offer a safe environment for individualised care. The team of activities coordinators made every effort for my mum to join in meaningful activities. Thank you so much.

The care at Ashbourne Court was very good on the dementia floor. The team are excellent. The furniture and sanitary ware are a bit tired and I found the new management company unpleasant and uncaring after my mother died. I worry that this new company will adversely affect the reputation of Ashbourne.

“You cannot provide the best care by simply reading from a book. You need a kind and caring heart to deliver this. It’s much more than a job and it’s so rewarding when you fulfil the needs of residents.”

Raj has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 20 years and joined Ashbourne Court in 2011. He is a Registered Nurse, who is passionate about elderly care.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

As a nurse, I really enjoy caring for the elderly, so I knew working as the Manager for Ashbourne Court would be a good fit and extremely rewarding. I really enjoy being responsible for organising care that is specifically tailored to residents’ needs. It’s fantastic how the team work together and I really appreciate the support in place to deliver high-quality care to residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?

I consider myself an amateur photographer and enjoy playing cricket.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?

I am incredibly proud of our home achieving an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC report in 2019, and being recognised as an outstanding care home manager!

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?

What are your Qualifications?

I worked as a student nurse at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Once I had qualified, I worked as a nurse before becoming a deputy manager at a care home and then progressed to be a home manager.
