My father was in Ashbourne Court for 6 months until he passed away on Easter Monday. The care he received was outstanding, the support and care we as a family received was also outstanding. It is a struggle to put into words how amazing the staff are. The biggest complement I can give them is I consider
them close family friends rather than staff doing a job.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Please don't hesitate to use Ashbourne Court and their wonderful staff.

Mum moved into Ashbourne Court in January 2019. We visited Mum early April 2019 and we were extremely impressed with ALL the facilities. In only a short time Mum has happily settled at Ashbourne Court which is a huge relief for us as we live abroad. From entering Ashbourne until leaving on a daily basis,
we were more than satisfied with ALL the staff, the general area and, the cleanliness of Mum's room. The staff are so willing, friendly, helpful, always smiling and kind. We stayed for lunch with Mum on two occasions and we were impressed with the high standard of food served. Tables are laid as if one were in a restaurant with a menu as well! The food is delicious, nutritious, well cooked and well presented. There is NO smell anywhere in the home unlike some places which we have encountered with our relatives in the past. Mum is very happy and is being well looked after on a daily basis - we cannot ask for more and highly recommend Ashbourne Court Care home. THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU.

The staff and management of Ashbourne Court provided faultless care for my mother during the final few weeks of her life. My father and I are so grateful that she was looked after in such a caring and well-run environment. All the staff at Ashbourne Court provided wonderful support to us at a most difficult
time. We will be eternally grateful for all they did for my mother and for us. I highly recommend this care facility. Thank you to all at Ashbourne Court.

We, three brothers, organised respite care for our mother in her nineties, to recover from successful hospital surgery to improve the blood flow to her leg. This poor blood flow had caused problems with one of her feet, making it difficult for her to walk. The aim of the respite care was to try to get
her back onto her feet again to give her the chance to return to her own flat nearby. The process to get her walking again, compounded by a long stay in hospital for the operation, had only just started when sadly our mother suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest and passed away as a result.

We have nothing but praise for the kind and friendly way the staff at Ashbourne Court treated our mother during her stay there and for how they treated us and our families on our visits, especially on the day she passed away. They did everything they possibly could to save her and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Ashbourne Court to others.

Every member of staff, including management, maintenance, carers, receptionist and cleaners were very professional, helpful and friendly from my first phone enquiry through admission and my mother's stay. My mum became very anxious at home after a fall and the team were able to check her safely in within
the same day of her wanting to go in. We had already visited Ashbourne court a couple of days earlier.

The carers were always attentive, trustworthy and friendly and very proactive when my mum required medical help. I believe the whole team there wanted the best for the residents and they made me confident that whatever happened my mother would be in very capable hands. They were very diligent in ensuring my mum had the right medicines when she needed them and organised all the care she needed while there.

The management made me feel I could trust them to look after my mum's long term future needs.

The home is clean and comfortable with good food and a relaxed and flexible feel.

My mother has been at Ashbourne Court for about a year now and is very happy and content.
As a family, we are also happy, not only for her happiness but the very professional nursing and daily care that she receives.
All management and staff are always happy, courteous and professional, nothing is
too much trouble.
Thank you Ashbourne Court from us all.

The staff at Ashbourne Court have cared for my father as if he was their own father, with loving care, support for all the family, good meals, phone updates, with dignity and humour..from the managers, admin team, day and night staff on the Charlton ward have provided a welcome (24/7) support to us
as a family throughout the 20 months and it is usually easy to get through to them. His food has been fine and they are very flexible to provide something else if he objects to the menu. The atmosphere of Ashbourne Court is always welcoming and my dad enjoys having his door open and greeting the staff who make time to chat whenever possible, even coping with my dad's eccentric style and speech and enjoying a banter. It's very difficult to have your loved ones cared for over a hundred miles away but I would choose Ashbourne Court any time and fully recommend their services. I owe a large debt of gratitude to them in making our final couple of years with dad so bearable and even fun!

My wife Mary moved into Ashbourne Court on Thursday 12th April 2018. Her progress in health and ability has been quite remarkable given her situation when she left Salisbury District Hospital. This is due entirely to the excellent personal and professional care, with an overall keenness to please and
comfort both residents and their relations when visiting. The happy smile always emanating from the staff, from cleaner to manager, makes for a very happy and comfortable home. This is best summed up by saying nothing is too much trouble.

For five years my aunt has lived, loved and laughed (a lot) amongst not staff but an amazing group of extended family who could have done nothing more to make her last years truly memorable. As her family we have been involved, informed and also cherished and cared for to an exceptional standard. We
send our heartfelt thanks to all at Ashbourne for their care, support and dedication.

My family and I are delighted with the care my mother is receiving from the staff at Ashbourne Court Care Home, Andover. She has Dementia, went to the care home in January 2018 after a fall at her home and is unable to cope with her own care. Initially, when she went to Ashbourne Court, she was very
disorientated and wanted to return to her own home but the care she received then and the care she is still receiving is first class. She now accepts that she will not be able to return home and has settled into the care environment.

She regularly joins in with many activities including recently making an Easter Bonnet, Yoga etc. The management and staff are very professional and we could not wish for a better care service for her.

Thank you Ashbourne Court Care Home.

Expensive but well worth it for the peace of mind. Having my mother in a home in which everybody from the senior management team and all the staff at whatever level clearly care about the residents and their well-being. Always trying to find ways to make her stay more enjoyable. Roll on summer and the

Following a very serious fall and subsequent hospitalisation with Mum already suffering from Vascular Dementia and NSC Lung Cancer, it was important for us to find a Care Home which we knew she would feel safe in and which would cope with her needs. As soon as we viewed Ashbourne Court in Andover
there was no question that this was the right Care Home for Mum in every respect, offering good sized rooms, excellent nursing and carers who are professional, friendly and very respectful to all the residents, cleanliness excellent, food very good which Mum really enjoyed, even though I visited every day I felt comfortable and enjoyed being there, sometimes even joining in on the events held myself which are very interactive. Thank you to you all.

We were delighted with the home from the first telephone contact. All the management and staff were professional and caring. The information we received in advance was excellent and clear. The assessment procedure was kind and sensitive. The room which Mum had was lovely, spacious and spotless.
Unfortunately Mum deteriorated very rapidly but the end of life care she received and the consideration we were given was superb. We would recommend Ashbourne Court without reservation. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.650) out of 10 for Ashbourne Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.650 for Ashbourne Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (190 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.65
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Court Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

“You cannot provide the best care by simply reading from a book. You need a kind and caring heart to deliver this. It’s much more than a job and it’s so rewarding when you fulfil the needs of residents.”

Raj has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 20 years and joined Ashbourne Court in 2011. He is a Registered Nurse, who is passionate about elderly care.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
As a nurse, I really enjoy caring for the elderly, so I knew working as the Manager for Ashbourne Court would be a good fit and extremely rewarding. I really enjoy being responsible for organising care that is specifically tailored to residents’ needs. It’s fantastic how the team work together and I really appreciate the support in place to deliver high-quality care to residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I consider myself an amateur photographer and enjoy playing cricket.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I am incredibly proud of our home achieving an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC report in 2019, and being recognised as an outstanding care home manager!

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?

What are your Qualifications?
I worked as a student nurse at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Once I had qualified, I worked as a nurse before becoming a deputy manager at a care home and then progressed to be a home manager.
