Ashbourne Court Care Home is a wonderful care home. All the staff are dedicated to their job and give mum 100% care every day. I would recommend this home to any family that is putting an elderly relative in this care home.

Our family could not be happier with the amazing care my dad receives at Ashbourne Court. All the staff are caring, professional and attentive to my dad's many care needs. They not only look after him, but also us as a family. They have dealt with the covid pandemic admirably and kept communications,
video calls and visits going as much as possible. They understand our worries and feelings and keep us informed at all times. The staff feel like friends. I have nothing but praise for their hard work.
Reply from Olivia Shields, Marketing Assistant at Ashbourne Court Care HomeThank you, Alison, we always appreciate individuals taking the time to give their feedback and we are very pleased to hear that your experience at Ashbourne Court Care Home has been so positive. My mother spent 9 years in Ashbourne Court. Despite her dementia, she always seemed settled and happy in the home. During those nine years, the ownership of the home changed and some staff left and were replaced but throughout her stay, whoever dealt with her did so with empathy and care at all times.
In summary, Ashbourne Court, its management and staff did everything we hoped for from a care home.
Reply from Olivia Shields, Marketing Assistant at Ashbourne Court Care HomeThank you, Bernard, for letting us know how we are doing at Ashbourne Court Care Home. Throughout the two years my mother resided at Ashbourne Court, her needs were always catered for, and nothing was too much trouble. Her dementia progressed, and all the staff always ensured she was comfortable, assessed and new care plans put in place. We were kept regularly updated and even more so
during the COVID-19 peak, which they all dealt with so courageously. I couldn't thank them all enough for their compassion and care. Highly recommended.

As an Italian family our 'nona' is our heart and soul. Watching our matriarch say her long and sad goodbye through the effects of dementia is truly heartbreaking for us all. Therefore, handing over her care to strangers was the most difficult of decisions, especially during a pandemic. That meant we
couldn't hold her hand, stroke her hair and tell her it was all going to be ok. I don't think that should ever be taken for granted. This process is huge for families, such an emotional time, but, it could have been a million times worse had it not been for Ashbourne Court. We are blessed to have found such a wonderful home, full of what can only be described as a team of earth angels. We will forever be in their debt. When we couldn't be there, they were, for every single moment of her time spent with them. My nona knew she was loved, cared for and safe even when we could tell her that. How blooming amazing!
Thank you so so much to all of the staff at the wonderful care home.

I am extremely grateful for the care that my husband has received since arriving at Ashbourne Court. The staff are all friendly, kind and compassionate which has helped him to settle. The staff have enabled me to stay both informed and involved with his care especially when I was unable to see him.
I cannot thank them enough and would highly recommend them.

Ashbourne Court is a fantastic care home. You will notice when you come in, that all members of staff are so friendly and always smile and greet you. The whole team are like one big family and are very caring towards the residents. Residents are supported in independent living where able. My relative
spend several years on the ground floor which is run by Senior Care Assistants. The standard of care was excellent, they involve the relatives in the care planning process and reviews. When her dementia progressed, she was transferred to the nursing care unit. Again, the staff were all very kind and caring. The standard of care continued to remain high for the rest of her stay. The home is clean. The menus change with a choice each day, the food always looked tasty and well presented. There are a team of activity coordinators who brighten the day by organising events, inviting singers/entertainers and animals into the home. I would highly recommend it.

My mother-in-law decided she would like to move into Ashbourne Court following two close personal bereavements which left her alone and her confidence destroyed, a formerly fiercely independent woman who spent her life caring for others. She originally spent two weeks respite in Ashbourne following
which she decided to move in permanently. She thoroughly enjoyed having company, whenever she wanted it, and to be able to retire to her room if she wanted time to herself. She enjoyed the activities arranged in-house and the excursions to local places of interest. The worry of sorting out her medication was taken away and the knowledge that she had 24 hours care and medical attention if required was a weight off our minds. The care given was very good and she was very content to chat away with members of staff. We felt she had a ‘second family’ at Ashbourne which meant a great deal to us.

I cannot thank Ashbourne Care Home enough for the love and care they showed my mum during her stay with them. Mum came to Ashbourne for rest care after a major operation, however she settled in so well she stayed for another four years. Unfortunately, Mum was diagnosed with alzheimers a couple of years
ago. She was looked after with such care and respect and she finally lost her battle in June 2020 to alzheimers. Once again everyone was so caring, especially under such unprecedented times. Thank you everyone, you made tough times and decisions bearable. My family and I would not have been able to cope without you all.

My Mother was a resident in Ashbourne Court Care Home for over 4 years, as soon as she moved in I knew I had made the right but very difficult decision. All the staff were absolutely amazing, nothing was too much trouble Mum was treated as an individual and her care was tailored for her every need.
They always had her dressed nicely and well turned out! There was always something happening, crafts, live entertainment, armchair exercises, the family and friends were always very welcome. I especially liked the phone calls I received updating me on Mums condition, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Very kind and caring right up till the end.

My mother recently passed away after spending her final year at the home suffering from severe Alzheimer's disease.
During her time at the home she received excellent professional and loving care from all of the management and staff - nothing ever appeared to be too much trouble for them.
Mum befriended
some of the regular staff and enjoyed times in the lounge where she could meet up with those staff and other patients. We have been advised that she had become a good chair volleyball player!
Without these wonderful staff Mum wouldn't have been able to leave her room at all.
As we live away from Andover we tried to visit as much as possible and the medical staff at the home kept us updated on any changes to Mum's condition.
During the COVID-19 we were unable to see her until her final hours and we'd like to thank the staff for the kindness that they gave to us at this difficult time.

My husband was terminally ill and received a high level of care and attention in this time. He was bedridden so all personal care was administered at very regular intervals with regard to privacy and delicacy. Bed position was changed and personal hygiene done regularly. Help with feeding and drinking.
Surroundings were very clean and pleasant. Food was puréed and presented well. Care taken with linen serviettes, tray and covers.

My mother, who sadly passed away in September 2019 had been a resident for six years. In all that time she was treated with respect and dignity. All of the staff, from management to the staff on the floor, were very caring and did all in their power to ensure my mother was well looked after and provided
for. I could not fault this care home in any way.

My Mum has been in Ashbourne Court Care Home since the end of January 2019. The family were all rather concerned as to whether Mum would settle, as she was being transferred from the North of England after several recent moves there. We were delighted to find that Mum settled down very well indeed,
despite some expected confusion and anxiety, and we feel that this was mainly attributed to the excellent care provided by everyone at Ashbourne. Warm, friendly, smiling faces all round, a willingness to help with anything required and excellent Nursing Care too. I have come to the important conclusion, over 6 months later, that Mum could not be in a more appropriate place for her needs and I see those needs being met whenever I visit. I commend Ashbourne Court - the Management Team, Carers, Activity Co-ordinators, Cleaners, Maintenance Man, Chef, Kitchen Staff. Indeed all who work there deserve a Gold Medal for their commitment to the residents. Thank you to you all.

My mother moved to Ashbourne Court in February following a hospital admission. All staff are smiley and professional from management to administration, maintenance and housekeeping. We were immediately impressed upon entering the building, with the efficiency, welcome and sense of calm.
Management
are excellent, interactive with all residents and very efficient.
The care staff are wonderful, compassionate, courteous and so kind, not only to Mum but the whole family. Whatever the selection process for staff at Ashbourne Court is it works extremely well!
The trained nursing staff always made time to communicate a changing situation and were efficient in organising extra medical input when required.
Sadly Mum passed away this month, but during her time there we felt lucky to have found such a lovely place for her to be well cared for.
We have no hesitation in recommending Ashbourne Court for a loved one. Thank you so much one and all.

My mother came into Ashbourne Court for respite. The moment we got into the building we were welcomed and offered a cup of tea. The staff were lovely, my mother was treated extremely well. The staff would give me regular updates on Mum and how she was settling in. She loved it in there. We had no worries
about her being there. She thrived while she was there. Very clean place. Would recommend this place to anyone. If Mum needed a permanent placement we would be happy about it. Well done.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.650) out of 10 for Ashbourne Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.650 for Ashbourne Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (190 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.65
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Court Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

“You cannot provide the best care by simply reading from a book. You need a kind and caring heart to deliver this. It’s much more than a job and it’s so rewarding when you fulfil the needs of residents.”

Raj has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 20 years and joined Ashbourne Court in 2011. He is a Registered Nurse, who is passionate about elderly care.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
As a nurse, I really enjoy caring for the elderly, so I knew working as the Manager for Ashbourne Court would be a good fit and extremely rewarding. I really enjoy being responsible for organising care that is specifically tailored to residents’ needs. It’s fantastic how the team work together and I really appreciate the support in place to deliver high-quality care to residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I consider myself an amateur photographer and enjoy playing cricket.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I am incredibly proud of our home achieving an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC report in 2019, and being recognised as an outstanding care home manager!

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?

What are your Qualifications?
I worked as a student nurse at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Once I had qualified, I worked as a nurse before becoming a deputy manager at a care home and then progressed to be a home manager.
