My mum has been a resident since September 2018, during this time up until she went home in February 2019 I cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work, care and compassion to the needs of my mum especially recognising her personality traits and continued to develop her confidence after a life-threatening illness. The staff also go above beyond for family and friends when visiting.

The facilities are excellent and the staff are always welcoming. This was a very stressful and life-changing for the family but the staff made this transition from hospital to care home so smooth, that when my mum went home she asked to return back after two weeks to be with friends and now calls it home.

During that readmission, the staff again went above and beyond and welcomed her back with open arms. I feel content and happy that my mum is being cared for to the highest standard.

I was staying at Berkeley Court whilst receiving treatment at St James Hospital and it was ideal for this purpose but the shortcomings in the facilities in the building would not lead me to recommend it for permanent residence.

There is no wifi available in the rooms and the air circulation and heating were totally inadequate. In contrast, the staff (with the odd exception) were caring, helpful and very patient.

Thank you for taking the time to review Berkeley Court and we are pleased you rated our care/ support as excellent. We are looking into improving our wifi and are unable to provide air conditioning currently, although our heating system runs throughout Berkeley Court. We also review our activities on an ongoing basis to provide our residents with a more tailored programme.

After visiting seven care homes in our area, I arranged for my husband to spend 2 weeks respite in Berkeley Court. This was so satisfactory that when it became necessary for him to receive permanent care it was the first choice. He has settled in so well and is so well looked after that all our worries about him have disappeared. Thank you Berkeley Court.

Mum has been in here 1 year now. I intended taking her out in January as lack of management, poor care staff, no engagement with mum, dirty home. Major improvements have happened this year. New manager, more caring and engaging. Home decorated plus internal changes has made this a very happy home for mum. Thanks to all the current carers, please try to reduce agency staff which is currently apparent. Thanks.

My wife became a resident in September 2017. Approaching the home, the garden was overgrown and unsightly, inside the home the staff were welcoming and friendly.
The room I was shown was fine, clean, airy, incorporated ensuite, tele and fridge.
Outside the room it needed more serious T.L.C.
Since the new manager arrived, decorating has been done, carpets replaced, aquarium put up in the hallway, pictures put up, pagoda erected in the garden, flowers put in containers, fence repainted, a real transformation.
Well done to the new manager who acted so swiftly.

A job well done.

Berkeley Court is a modern facility which is well maintained with a welcoming environment. Staff are caring and compassionate. Occasionally agency staff do cover some shifts. My mother is happy and content in this home. I visit very regularly and I am satisfied that her care is up to standard and consistent. Activities are arranged but I feel there could be more on occasions. The home environment is clean and my mother eats well and her personal care is maintained to a good standard. The home is a safe living environment and I am pleased that my mother is well cared for in a good home.

I am delighted with the Berkeley Court Care Home. I feel happy because my mum (who has dementia) has settled here. The carers are wonderful and my husband and I have made an effort to get to know them.
Mum is well looked after. The carers know Mum's personality and they always have a smile on their face.
They are very conscientious.
The home is bright and cheerful.
We feel we can approach management if we have a query.
The manager is excellent, as are supporting staff.

Well pleased.

My mother has been in Berkeley Court since December 2015. During this time, through trials and tribulations, all the staff have been remarkable.
My mam was reluctant to leave her flat and struggled at first.

Since then three spells in hospital has seen her asking to go home - meaning Berkeley Court - that is the ultimate accolade I can give you, that this is her home thanks to the staff here.

I have no hesitation in recommending Berkeley Court. The staff are very caring. The place is beautifully clean and very light and airy. The lounges are bright and light and large. It is a joy to come and visit Mum and Dad. The atmosphere is calm. The staff are very warm and welcoming. It is excellent value for money.

My father has been a resident since May. Each visit I make I have been met by friendly staff, with regular updates on my father. He likes to rise early and is given a cup of Tea no matter what time. This is very much appreciated. He is encouraged to keep hydrated which was an issue when he was at home. The home is clean. Staff friendly and somewhere I am happy to have my father live.

I have already recommended the care home to a family member for their father. The staff are excellent, the home is clean and there are no old people smells, which I find excellent. They are always finding ways to entertain the residents eg bingo on a Thursday morning. It has a cafe looking out over Leeds where the residents can take visitors to make a drink and chat.

My mother was cared for sensitively and with humour and compassion by a dedicated staff in a friendly, clean, warm environment. They did their best to ensure that she was comfortable and cared for, even though she was not happy in her last years and probably was quite challenging at times. My mother was ever saying she wanted to come and live with us - this was never possible and you were the only option that gave us reassurance and lack of guilt to a certain extent - thank you.

I am delighted about the quality of care my aunt is getting, working myself in social care, I have a sense of the effort the staff put in to ensure an outstanding care. The staff are friendly, have time for the residents and overall are well trained. Berkeley Court is an exceptionally good care home.

If I had a criticism, it would be in the room itself. The carpet could be changed, as were the carpets in the corridors. Either that or vacuumed regularly to get the bits up. The hanging space could be improved with more space provided.

Even when her dementia was obvious to all, I felt that I could look after her and the house myself. It quickly became obvious to friends and family that I could not. She came to Berkeley Court in September 2017. My health failed. I spent December 2017 in hospital. I asked to be discharged to Berkeley Court so we could be together. That was good but exhausting. After three months I was worn out and asking for help. The manager and staff are being very helpful in splitting my day and relieve me from repetitive conversations about what day is it? do we owe anybody anything? who is in our kitchen? have we got something for tea?

I have moved to another floor, we share that room in the afternoon, read, write, sleep or watch TV. Immediately after tea, we say 'goodnight' and I am in my room alone to enjoy a welcome break. She is looked after by the staff, enjoys her evenings separately and I feel I can get the best out of sharing our care and having my own life.

The staff are extremely caring and supportive and treat problems with sensitivity and thought. They are always cheerful, helpful and proactive. The home is very clean, light, airy and pleasant with a welcoming atmosphere. A better internet speed with reliable access would be an added advantage.

My aunt has only been in the care home for a few months, but we (family) are very pleased with the way she has settled in, and she seems very happy. Each time we have been to visit there is always lots of staff around who are very friendly and helpful to answer any questions if necessary.

My relative has been a resident in Berkeley Court since 25th February 2013 when it was under the management of Ideal Care Homes, taken over by Anchor in September 2015. Since then, several changes of management staff have occurred and standards have been very good.

Staff who work and take care of the residents in question have been excellent. She has been lucky to have the same carers all the time until she was moved to a nursing care home which is nearer for me to visit as age is not on my side and the travel to Leeds is not good with public or private transport. The transfer to the new home, arranged by Berkeley Court, was outstanding and she was accompanied by a carer. I thank all at Berkeley Court for all the excellent care for 3 years 7 months.
