Following a series of falls at home, in February, we arranged for my dad to stay at YewTree. He is 96-years-old, and we had wanted him to end his days in his own home.
Since he has been at the home, he has become fitter and stronger and is now very settled there. The care he has received has been
exemplary from the home manager, the senior staff and everyone who helps him with his daily routine. He has been treated with great kindness, care and consideration throughout, and he (and the family) are now very happy for him to stay there permanently. They also have fun; to see my dad singing and laughing again was wonderful.
The staff have been so supportive to the family too. Despite their busy jobs, they make time to speak to us when we visit, and we always leave knowing that Dad is in safe hands.
We are so grateful for the love and support from the Yew Tree staff - they are a great team!

I chose Yew Tree as it had very good reviews. My dad has dementia and has stayed in other care homes and not settled. When I first took my dad in four weeks ago, I was very upset, the manager N was very supportive and understanding and reassured me he would be fine, and I could call at any time and
ring at any time day or night to check on my dad for my peace of mind.
As I work in the industry myself, sometimes I can be a little picky, the manager has gone above and beyond to support me and support my dad and the rest of the residents in the home, and I call at all times, especially around my shift, every time I call, I am more than welcome and always been offered a cup of tea.
The home and the staff are very lucky to have a manager and a deputy manager like them to support them and the residents.
My dad likes it that much he does not want to come home and now has been made a permanent resident of Yew Tree, and that’s good support from the management to the staff.

The home is spotless and the staff are so accommodating on all levels. We couldn't have asked for more. It is a very inviting atmosphere that is made cheerful by the staff - very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. On the death of my father-in-law, the staff could not have handled it any
better, we were very impressed and would wholeheartedly recommend. Well done and thank you.

In all, Yew Tree Care Home is a fantastic place. My dad was treated with so much compassion throughout his time there. His words to me were "I can't fault the place". For me personally, it was such a pleasure to visit, very clean and welcoming, even from the car park. The staff are absolutely fantastic,
fun and friendly. Which makes it better, knowing Dad was in great hands. Thank you.

The staff at Yew Tree are fabulous and look after my uncle to a very high standard of care. They keep me informed of his progress as not been able to visit due to Covid restrictions. More recently visits to the visiting pod have been very welcome and appreciated by myself and my uncle seems to enjoy
the visits too.

Yew Tree has enabled me to visit my father after 10 months without a face to face meeting in a safe and secure environment. The care team, activities organiser and 'handyman' have all gone that extra mile, particularly important at Christmas time. The activities team have also proactively contacted
family members when video call slots are available, ensuring contact with residents is maintained. Well done, thanks and keep up the fabulous work you are all doing!

My mother, who recently passes away spent her last days at Yew Tree Care Centre. I can only rate; Yew Tree Care Centre and its staff as first-class. The level of medical and physical nursing was exemplary. The care for my mother's mental wellbeing was outstanding - you could not ask for better. The
staff were helpful, cheerful and friendly at all times. Even though she was living out her final days, her dignity was respected, and she was made to feel special. The home manager was very impressive, updated us regularly and supported us throughout.

Yew Tree Care Home has been exceptional in it's care for my dad, who was on end of life. They treated all the family with compassion, empathy and sensitivity. All the staff were professional and at the same time very caring. I cannot say enough good things about the home. Special thanks to the manager
and three certain ladies - I'm sorry I didn't know everyone's names.

My experience overall has been very good. I cannot fault the staff who have been very kind and understanding which is a good help. My only complaint really is about desserts for my husband, the main meals are fine.
My husband is diabetic type 2 but they always give him diabetic foods (desserts) which
he dislikes. He is able to eat normal desserts but only ONCE a day. Last time he was in he was having sweet stuff twice a day which was too much and he had a hypo.

My father was a resident here for over 5 years. In all that time he was well looked after, kept safe and treated with dignity at all times.
The staff are very caring and provide great 24-hour care as the night team are just as dedicated as their daytime colleagues.
Nursing provision is excellent as
is the work by the care assistants.
The place is always kept very clean and the housekeeping team are to be congratulated for this.
Whilst he was there the level of communication was excellent and they were always respectful and understanding.
Sadly he died a few weeks ago and the team could not have dealt with it better.

They all helped comfort our family through many distressing times.

Even from outside Yewtree looked inviting, not disappointed with light, modern, clean, airy interior, would not have thought was in a Care Home. The manager got Mam a bed at short notice, Nursing staff are exceptional, explained all aspects of meds and changes in care, listened to my concerns and prompted
GP to review care as her condition changed. Great continuity of care across shifts. Care assistants brilliant, cheerful, encouraging and thoughtful, including doing all the small things that make a difference. A genuine feeling from every member of staff that they really do care, and in practice it made a difficult 3 months for me much more bearable, knowing Mam was in the best hands I could have wished for. All the staff were so supportive, but professional. In my experience, the care provided by this home has to be about as good as it gets. Thank you all so very much.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.843) out of 10 for Yew Tree Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.551 for Yew Tree Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.551
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.292 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Yew Tree Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.592
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
