Deer Park View Care Centre in Teddington, named because it overlooks the historic Royal hunting ground of Bushy Park, offers residential, nursing and dementia care.

The manager and staff are always helpful in every way and kind to all the residents.
I have never seen them be unkind even when the residents are being challenging.
They feed my husband at every meal and keep him nicely shaved and well dressed and see that he has regular haircuts and chiropody.
They
take great care of his health, day and night.
They engage him in activities and make him laugh and do their best to keep him happy.

My wife has been at Deer Park View Care Centre throughout the Covid issues and the home and staff coped wonderfully with all the challenges involved. They kept me fully informed throughout the lockdown period and handled the difficulties of video communication with dementia sufferers with much care
and thoughtfulness.

Deer Park View Care Centre has offered an exceptional level of care for my mother. It was a difficult decision to move her into long-term care but I am constantly reassured by the team's care and support.
The staff and management keep me updated and are so friendly and welcoming.
Recently supporting
Mum with accessing one of the (regular) social events in the unit, this was beautiful to see.
As a carer, again, the staff and manager make me feel welcomed and my views heard.
The building is well maintained and cared for, Mum's room is like a hotel and very comfortable.
A good selection of well-cooked meals offering lots of variety and choice.
The care staff go above and beyond to care for Mum (and other residents). Even during challenging Covid restrictions, they showed dignity and compassion.

Caring, compassionate, exceptional are the three words that I would describe this home. I am a postwoman that works around the corner from here, and when I found out an old customer of mine is staying here I enquired if I could visit her whilst doing my rounds. The response was an enthusiastic, yes
she would love to see you. The staff have been very welcoming, friendly and encouraging, even laying on fresh coffee and biscuits to keep me going, anyway, my friend is enjoying her time here she tells me that she enjoys the freshly cooked food and menu variety and more importantly, she gets waited on hand and foot, she also said it’s like staying at a 5-star hotel. I would have no hesitation in recommending Deer Park View to friends, family or my customers.

My husband came to Deer Park View under Covid ruling after discharge from hospital. Throughout his five month stay, the care he received was magnificent. The staff who helped him did so with compassion and humour. I cannot fault anything about his happy stay at Deer Park View. Wonderful staff; the manager,

My Mum was diagnosed with Dementia back in 2010. We always lived in the area so wanted to find a home close by. We were immediately impressed with Deer Park View. I live in Australia so wouldn't be able to get back to see Mum frequently so it was imperative to find a home we could trust. The Manager
and her team were amazing. Mum was looked after incredibly well over the last 10 years. Every time I'd visit she'd be immaculately clean and her clothes clean and ironed. For the last 5 or 6 years, Mum couldn't do anything for herself and the nurses just stepped up to the plate and took care of her. Washed her, fed her, dressed her, and catered for her every need. Thanks again to the Manager and team, you are all Angels!

The staff have maintained an incredible amount of support and care to both mum and myself, during a very intense three months. To know mum was being so well cared for, was absolutely priceless at this challenging time. I have complete trust in all the staff at Deer Park View and the manager is excellent.

My mother was a resident at Deer Park View for the last 14 months of her life. During that time she was looked after extremely well by a caring, friendly and professional staff. Deer Park View is well run by an efficient management team who are always available to talk to. A bonus is the location which
is very convenient for Bushy Park just over the road.
Just a couple of negatives. They really need air conditioning installed, especially now that the summers are getting hotter, as the windows cannot open very wide so the rooms can get very hot. If not possible in all the rooms then perhaps in the public areas?
Also, there were occasional problems with the lift - at one time it was out of action for a whole week - and as my mother was wheelchair-bound this meant we couldn't take her out, which was what she loved best. But overall we could not have asked for a better home when she needed looking after, and we very much appreciated the patience and care all the staff showed - a big thank you to all.

I chose Deer Park View for my Mother because, on visiting, the Carers and Nurses showed a kind, caring demeanour and were all busy interacting with the residents. I was not mistaken. The care my Mother received during the last few weeks of her life was exceptional. She was treated with compassion and
dignity and the nurses and management were very supportive to me and my Sister during a difficult few weeks. The home is kept spotlessly clean and free of bad odours. My Mother's bed was continually changed to keep her clean and leg wounds were dressed regularly. The nursing staff collaborated closely with the local doctor, who was regularly on site and also very supportive, to provide effective end of life care. The communal areas are very pleasant and visitors are welcomed at all hours. I will sum up with a quote from Mum's neighbour/friend who says that she has told her Son that if she needs care in the future she wants it to be at Deer Park View. Many thanks to the manager and all the team.

Deer Park View provided very high-quality care for my Aunt who sadly needed a high level of nursing. They tried to accommodate all her wishes and her quality of life in her last few weeks with them was so much better for this. Deer Park View were very professional and proactive in their work and staff

My mother was taken into Deer Park View for the few weeks before she passed away. The whole atmosphere of the home was remarkable for the feeling of loving kindness and care. This was in large part due to the morale of the staff. There were no agency staff at all and all the people working there, from
the kitchen staff and cleaners to the nursing staff and carers, knew each other and worked seamlessly together.
The food was freshly cooked and even though my mother was eating very little they tempted her appetite with this.
The staff were constantly popping in to see my mother and make sure she was all right.
We felt when we came away from visiting her that she was in safe hands and being cared for with affection and love.
I would like to pay tribute to the manager and all the staff at Deer Park View for the way they helped us as well as our mother. They were attentive, kind and everything you could wish for if your mother had to be in a home other than her own.

My father came to Deer Park View for respite care following a fall and hip fracture. Within two days he had decided that he wanted to stay permanently as he felt much happier and safer there than at home. He thought the staff were wonderful - they were all so caring and treated him as an individual,
respecting his likes and wishes. He frequently commented how happy they all seemed to be which meant a lot to him. And he was very complimentary about the management.


The food was excellent and he soon regained his appetite, managing to regain the weight he had lost over the preceding months. My brother and I were always made really welcome when we visited.


Sadly my father died in June due to a longstanding illness. He requested that his end of life care should be at Deer Park View and the staff made his final days as comfortable as possible, allowing him to slip quietly and peacefully away as he wanted. I am so glad that we found Deer Park View and would definitely recommend.

We are so happy that my mother moved to Deer Park. All staff are kind, professional and caring. Laughter can be heard. Meals are extremely tasty. We feel listened to. Nothing feels as if it is too much trouble. Staff ratio to residents is key to this. Visitors are welcomed in from reception to the residents'
room. So glad my mother is here.

Satisfactory. As indicated below, key features were no worse and frequently better than satisfactory.


Misinformed on smoking policy, where smoking in the garden is not allowed, despite earlier assurances. Small allocated space, dirty and unsanitary, in breach of Health and Safety requirements. Advised

that improvements requested by management were discouraged (by HSE?) as a deterrent.

We do have a designated Smoking Area which was made available and we have taken note of your comments that you feel this was not the most appropriate setting.

Michael Smith

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from Scotland, I started my working life in banking, before deciding to complete a university degree. I then took some time out and travelled around the world to Australia. I have now worked in care for 14 years within sheltered housing, extra care housing, care homes and nursing homes.


As Home Manager it is my job to listen to our residents, lead the team, answer queries from families and ensure all our compliance requirements are met. I want to ensure that my residents and my team are happy and seeing that brings me joy in my role. I love to create a warm, welcoming vibrant home and make an impact.


The atmosphere is extremely important and it ensures that everyone I am responsible for feels part of our community and that each day is a good day and strive for positive feedback on what we do.


I believe everything that we do at Deer Park View, we put our heart and soul into it, we are passionate about the work and believe in improving the lives of our residents. I always hope to have a positive impact on the place I work in and ensure we have a lively, full, and happy home.


My biggest achievement was completing my Social Work degree whilst working. I have lived in the local area for over 5 years and one of the highlights of our location is Bushy Park just across the road. We also have Kingston nearby with lots of shops and activities.


My passions are my family and football. I have two young children and love all things football. I still support Celtic and many years ago adopted an English club which I still follow – Liverpool.
