A very professionally run care home. The staff are exceptional - all very caring and considerate. Everything provided from food, laundry, medication and entertainment is first class.
Whatever the staff get paid - it is nowhere near enough.
They are truly first class.

Bradbury Grange is friendly but generally short staffed.
The staff are excellent but clearly have problems due to short staffing.
Food is generally good and plentiful but sometimes awful (overcooked for example).
The ground floor lounge always smells bad.
Residents' feedback, meetings with management,
not clear at present.
Lack of outings (due to lack of staff).

Thank you for taking your time to offer your feedback. We always value both positive and negative observations. We are sorry to hear that we haven’t met your expectations and it would be most helpful if you could meet with our Home Manager to discuss this.
We have recently reviewed our staffing levels and are working above the required staff to resident ratio. We have also undertaken a successful recruitment campaign and have had a number of new starters join us. We will look at the food offered and will undertake a survey of the food and dining experience and will make any improvements that we can. Our Home Manager has an open-door policy and encourages time with residents and families and we do hold regular meetings.

From my initial visit, I was really impressed with the care team (including everyone from admin to maintenance), who were all friendly. I saw them treat residents in a familiar manner, but with great respect. If the team are not right, it doesn’t matter how nice the building is. However, the house is
lovely too. The lounges and quiet seating areas are all used, residents are in their own rooms, only if they wish to be. There is a lovely, proper garden, with seating areas and a summer house. The bedrooms are large, all have an en-suite wet room, and the furniture is of an excellent quality. (I have visited many homes, and this is by no means universal).
I have every confidence that my husband is really well looked after, better than I can do myself because he has a whole team now! The care is really person-centred. I am very thankful that I found this excellent home.

The staff at Bradbury Grange are diligent, caring and kind. They provide individual attention to detail, treat residents with respect. They follow up requests from relatives and are always courteous. They are however rushed off their feet, especially at weekends. There are not enough staff.

Pottery workshop with residents. 8 residents actively participated and 2 watched with interest, 2 family members helped. The activity was led by a local potter. Explanations were very clear so all could participate. Lots of good conversations, especially with those who had previous skills in potter
(one resident had been a potter). Others who had no previous experience quickly learned. At the end of the activity, the residents asked: "when the lady would be coming again"?

My dad has been here 10 months approximately. He is very happy and has many friends. The rooms are clean, spacious and private. He has a sit-down shower and toilet en-suite and can have a bath too if preferred. Dining rooms and meals are like a luxury hotel with drinks and snacks.
Excellent management.
Staff talk to residents and are friendly and kind. Beautiful gardens. Rooms to take visitors and a big lounge too.
Lots of entertainment - parties - my dad had a singer come and people clapped and sang and some danced at his 92nd party.
Church service if people want it. Films, skittles, art, teddy tombola and garden party and Strawberry Fair this month. Excellent place.

After living independently, this has been dad's home for the last 10 months - dad has dementia and was starting to become quite frail.


I looked at 5 homes in Whitstable and knew that Bradbury Grange was perfect for this time of dad's life.


Our first concern was for dad to be safe as in the night

he can become confused. Bradbury has movement sensors and sensor mats in addition to the staff carrying out checks on residents. The rooms smell fresh, have ensuites and showers. The home has state of the art bathrooms - my dad loves his bath times and finds them very relaxing here.


There are 3 gardens (one a sensory garden) - It is wonderful to see the residents in the garden chatting/talking about the vegetables and listening to the birds.


The activities/entertainment is as good as being on holiday and help keep the residents active physically and mentally.


The managers and area manager are extremely kind, supportive and helpful.


We have peace of mind that dad lives here.

My father is very happy and content here. The staff are friendly and helpful. His room is spacious and clean. There is a very good community feeling with residents talking to each other and making friends. Meals are good with lots of choice and a nice dining room downstairs and upstairs.
Beautiful
gardens. There is a church meeting and music on Sundays. Regular music (1940's - 1990's) for residents and visitors. Residents join in singing and dancing if they can (sitting or standing). Art activities and exercise. We like the little area where families can sit away from lounge if you want to.

In September last year, I lost my wife after 75 years, it upset me quite a lot. I was using care home support but it wasn't enough as there was no night care, so my lovely daughter spent time looking around for a nice care home, first the price and second would Dad like it? Bradbury Grange was the one.
It is fantastic, thank you a very happy 95-year-old.

Kim

Kim Saint

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Bradbury Grange's dedicated team is led by Home Manager Kim Saint who brings over 40 years of care expertise, having previously worked as a registered nurse and managed care homes both as a home and area manager. Kim joined in November 2022 and has since transformed the home into the vibrant, welcoming place it is today.


A talented photographer, Kim's stunning wildlife images have been exhibited in Kent and London galleries.

Niran

Niran Subedi

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager Joined: 2021

Since joining Bradbury Grange in 2021 as a Care Assistant, Niran has been promoted twice to Senior Care Assistant and to Deputy Manager. Previously, he worked as a social worker in Nepal for 9 years.
Niran holds a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care and loves cooking while listening to music and a keen motorcyclist.


He says "Bradbury Grange is a beautiful care home with lovely residents and a caring team. Thanks to strong leadership and mentoring from the Home Manager and fantastic colleagues, I have been able to achieve everything with proper guidance and support. Bradbury Grange is not only a workplace but home for me."

Paula

Paula Hardisty

Job Title: Administration Manager Joined: 2019

Paula has been the Administration Manager at Bradbury Grange since 2019. She enjoys her role, in particular using her skills and experience to solve any issues as they occur. One of the best aspects of her job has been getting to know both the residents and staff.


Previously Paula was in the Women’s Royal Army Corps and also worked for the MOD and Kent Police in the Criminal Justice Unit.


She has two grown up children, enjoys coastal walks with her dog Oscar and socialising with friends.

Ann

Ann Campbell

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant Joined: 1980

Ann joined MHA in 1980 and is our longest serving team member. Initially based at Cliff Deane in Tankerton, she moved to Bradbury Grange when residents transferred there in 2010 and is now a senior carer.


“I feel very honoured to be MHA’s longest serving employee. One of the best things over the years has been getting to know the people you care for, having a laugh with them and solving their problems as well as getting to know their families.


“Being a care worker is an interesting job. It is not without its challenges but it is very rewarding. You have to have patience and be interested in the people you care for. I always say to those joining to look at it like caring for your grandparents and how you would want to treat them."
