Devonshire House is located in the pretty village of Cavendish with riverside views, providing quality care and luxurious facilities within a comfortable and relaxing environment. The home continues to welcome new residents for both respite and permanent care. In addition to residential care, they provide care for older people living with dementia.

The home is equipped with stunning facilities for customers to enjoy such as a large conservatory space and cosy quiet lounges, whilst original features such as inglenook fireplaces and beamed ceilings have been preserved.

The home, operated by Anchor, provides residential care which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of customers and enhance their quality of life. Excellent provision and care. More engagement in the activities would be good. This would require encouraging my mother to do this. She enjoyed the church service. My mother has enjoyed her time in respite care and particularly enjoyed the lunchtime chats with other residents.

We find the whole atmosphere very welcoming and clean. The atmosphere among the residents is one of real care and comfort. There is nothing really that the care home finds difficult to provide. Residents are very happy, as is my mother-in-law. Carers are very helpful and polite. The home is clean and

My Dad had his last days in Devonshire House in 2015 and my Mum is now in the dementia wing there. I can't thank the staff enough. I'm always impressed by everyone that works there - can honestly say I've never seen any of the staff be anything but really kind and caring to the residents.

My 90-year-old mum has been a resident on the Ryder Wing since February 2020 when her dementia proved too much for her to continue to live on her own. From the start, the staff have always shown great care and attention towards Mum and slowly she has built up a strong rapport and trust in regular staff
members, this has resulted in her being calmer and less afraid.
The staff and management have always gone the extra mile for my mother which is greatly appreciated by all the family, as access to seeing relatives has been very difficult, due to the home’s own, yet understandable, procedures to prevent Covid outbreaks within the home.
The home regularly updates us regarding Mum's health, wellbeing and any needs. They also provide weekly newsletters and Zoom meetings for relatives, which are very helpful.
The location of Devonshire House is both beautiful and tranquil but we would recommend the care home because of the most primary of all reasons and that is the high quality of the staff.

Mum has been at Devonshire House now for a year, having initially come for a short respite stay following a stay in hospital. At 94, she was "coping well at home and had no intention of ever going into a care home".
One year on and Mum is content and well...she cannot say enough about how caring and
friendly all the staff are, from cleaners to maintenance, management and of course carers. There is always time for a little chat if she wants it and peace and quiet if not. She is treated with respect and concern at all times that I have witnessed interactions. Of course, there are niggles sometimes, that`s life, but any concerns are always received and dealt with professionally. Mum smiles and laughs more than I have seen in a long time... relieved of the struggle to cope, she is supported to manage her own life rather than `life being taken over by professionals, and as her family, we can enjoy visiting her, rather than worry.
It was Mum's decision to stay, which for me, says it all.

My father has been at Devonshire House for just over a year, following several falls which resulted in him being unsafe to live by himself. In addition to this, I noticed that his memory had started to deteriorate. Finding a good care home during the height of the pandemic was not straightforward as
tours were quite sensibly put on hold. However, Devonshire House is close to my home and I knew of several people who had lived there and relatives happy with their care. The manager and staff were very welcoming and helpful from my initial visit to discuss Dad's needs. He went straight there from the hospital and settled in quite quickly. The staff are all very friendly and my dad is extremely well cared for. I visit weekly now and the staff feel like friends. There is a lovely atmosphere as soon as the front door is opened by the staff. Communication is good and the weekly newsletters and regular relatives Zoom meetings are much appreciated.

My sister and I found it really hard to make the decision for our aunt to move into permanent care, even when she wasn’t able to stay at home safely due to her risk of wandering. The thought of us looking into care felt very daunting. However, we made an appointment to look at Devonshire House. We both
felt really impressed by the home's homely and clean environment. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and spent quality time with residents, such as activities. The home had such a nice calm and relaxed atmosphere. We both felt such a sense of relief that we had found somewhere nice for our aunt.
My aunt has now been a resident since September. She appears contented and well looked after. She has a lovely room with her own en-suite bathroom. Staff have always welcomed us.
We feel very lucky that we have found such a lovely care home.

Our mum never wanted to go into a home and had very strong views on care homes until we were put into a position that we needed to find somewhere for Mum for a few weeks in between carers at her own home! Upon visiting Mum at Devonshire House I found her to be very happy and very excited with her surroundings
she could not wait for lunch and said the food was amazing! When I discussed with Mum how she felt about being in Devonshire House she said "who would not want to stay here?". She also said she was wonderful when I asked her how she was feeling! That is something she has not said for years! The home is beautiful and the gardens stunning! The staff are so very caring and give Mum the care and time she needs. Thank you Devonshire House for making my mum's life a place that she loves!

Devonshire House has been my mother's home for about 8-months following a short stay for respite. She was a very busy, social, active, professional lady, but due to age and failing health, she needed to move into a home for more support and care. Devonshire House has been the perfect place for her,
and she tells me regularly how kind and attentive all the staff and carers are. Recently, (March 2021) she was very unwell, and so I visited several times over the weekend at different and unexpected times, and every time I arrived - Mum was being attended or had just been attended to and was either being reassured or was calm, and every single need that she might have had was being fulfilled. She was always clean, and the room and bedding were always fresh. The staff during that weekend regularly go over and above any expectations to ensure that she is safe and cared for and that she is as happy and occupied as she can be, and I am so grateful to have found this home for my mother.

Devonshire House have looked after my mother-in-law for the last 18 months, the care has been amazing. They have liaised with medical professionals, liaised with family and put my mother-in-law’s individual needs first. We previously experienced two other care homes that struggled to provide adequate
care but the staff at Devonshire wanted to understand and wanted to help and the outcome has been that my mother in law has settled, calmed and feels at home with staff that she trusts and is in an environment that she is relaxed in. Lockdown has provided challenges but the care home have always prioritised safety and we cannot fault that, and we know that our loved one is in good hands.

Mum spent exactly four years at Devonshire House. The building and gardens are beautiful but also the care Mum received was been second to none. The staff clearly care about the residents and have been really helpful to me too, keeping me informed about Mum’s health issues. The staff even arranged
a Zoom 90th birthday party for Mum during lockdown so that her whole family could celebrate with her. It was lovely to see her looking so happy and well cared for. During her last illness, the staff were amazingly supportive both to her and me - I can’t thank them enough.

Mum was allocated to this care home in May 2020, she, unfortunately, died in October. The manager and staff here are outstanding in terms of commitment, care, wellbeing and comfort. She honestly could not have found better care anywhere. Although we hoped she would be there for a few more years it was
not to be, her end of life care was truly remarkable. I cannot thank the whole team enough.

My grandmother was very happy in her last five months of her life in Devonshire House. Nothing was too much trouble for the team to make my nan comfortable. Always looked smart and tidy, fed well and always encouraged her to have mealtimes in the dining room. Sadly she passed away in October last year
and I can honestly say the care, respect and dignity they gave my nan were on another level and for this, I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Our dear friend resided at Devonshire House for his last 2 and a half years. He was very well cared for and the staff team gained his confidence going the 'extra mile' to ensure he was comfortable and treated with compassion. A private person with complex health needs who had lived on his own for many
years the move to a care home was a difficult decision but turned out to be a blessing for which he was and we are most grateful. Our warm thanks to all the team for their expertise, understanding and loving care. We wish the 'new' manager well with plans to enhance the offering for the future at Devonshire House.

I have found the staff of Devonshire House very professional and very respectful towards my mum. They listen and support me when I have any queries concerning my mum. During the Covid-19 lockdown of the home, I have had regular video calls and telephone calls and now we can enjoy socially distanced
garden visits. With the support of the carers, this has made life for Mum easier. She is not so anxious and she relaxes and enjoys our visits. The staff make sure that Mum is comfortable during the hot weather, seated under a parasol, wearing suncream and when it was chilly, a blanket over her.

My Uncle has profound Alzheimer's and the staff give him the care and support we wish we could provide ourselves. They truly care for him as a person, maintaining his dignity and quality of life in every way they can. They are amazing and we cannot thank them enough.

Very good indeed. The staff are kind and thoughtful and take the trouble to understand the character and requirements of each individual resident.
