Our mum never wanted to go into a home and had very strong views on care homes until we were put into a position that we needed to find somewhere for Mum for a few weeks in between carers at her own home! Upon visiting Mum at Devonshire House I found her to be very happy and very excited with her surroundings she could not wait for lunch and said the food was amazing! When I discussed with Mum how she felt about being in Devonshire House she said "who would not want to stay here?". She also said she was wonderful when I asked her how she was feeling! That is something she has not said for years! The home is beautiful and the gardens stunning! The staff are so very caring and give Mum the care and time she needs. Thank you Devonshire House for making my mum's life a place that she loves!

Staff were kind caring and very supportive. Our Aunt was treated with dignity and respect and we were updated regularly with her health and wellbeing. It's reassuring knowing that our Aunt spent her final days in a kind caring home. You have a wonderful team. Thank you to you all.

Devonshire House has been my mother's home for about 8-months following a short stay for respite. She was a very busy, social, active, professional lady, but due to age and failing health, she needed to move into a home for more support and care. Devonshire House has been the perfect place for her, and she tells me regularly how kind and attentive all the staff and carers are. Recently, (March 2021) she was very unwell, and so I visited several times over the weekend at different and unexpected times, and every time I arrived - Mum was being attended or had just been attended to and was either being reassured or was calm, and every single need that she might have had was being fulfilled. She was always clean, and the room and bedding were always fresh. The staff during that weekend regularly go over and above any expectations to ensure that she is safe and cared for and that she is as happy and occupied as she can be, and I am so grateful to have found this home for my mother.

Devonshire House have looked after my mother-in-law for the last 18 months, the care has been amazing. They have liaised with medical professionals, liaised with family and put my mother-in-law’s individual needs first. We previously experienced two other care homes that struggled to provide adequate care but the staff at Devonshire wanted to understand and wanted to help and the outcome has been that my mother in law has settled, calmed and feels at home with staff that she trusts and is in an environment that she is relaxed in. Lockdown has provided challenges but the care home have always prioritised safety and we cannot fault that, and we know that our loved one is in good hands.

Mum spent exactly four years at Devonshire House. The building and gardens are beautiful but also the care Mum received was been second to none. The staff clearly care about the residents and have been really helpful to me too, keeping me informed about Mum’s health issues. The staff even arranged a Zoom 90th birthday party for Mum during lockdown so that her whole family could celebrate with her. It was lovely to see her looking so happy and well cared for. During her last illness, the staff were amazingly supportive both to her and me - I can’t thank them enough.

Mum was allocated to this care home in May 2020, she, unfortunately, died in October. The manager and staff here are outstanding in terms of commitment, care, wellbeing and comfort. She honestly could not have found better care anywhere. Although we hoped she would be there for a few more years it was not to be, her end of life care was truly remarkable. I cannot thank the whole team enough.

My grandmother was very happy in her last five months of her life in Devonshire House. Nothing was too much trouble for the team to make my nan comfortable. Always looked smart and tidy, fed well and always encouraged her to have mealtimes in the dining room. Sadly she passed away in October last year and I can honestly say the care, respect and dignity they gave my nan were on another level and for this, I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Our dear friend resided at Devonshire House for his last 2 and a half years. He was very well cared for and the staff team gained his confidence going the 'extra mile' to ensure he was comfortable and treated with compassion. A private person with complex health needs who had lived on his own for many years the move to a care home was a difficult decision but turned out to be a blessing for which he was and we are most grateful. Our warm thanks to all the team for their expertise, understanding and loving care. We wish the 'new' manager well with plans to enhance the offering for the future at Devonshire House.

I have found the staff of Devonshire House very professional and very respectful towards my mum. They listen and support me when I have any queries concerning my mum. During the Covid-19 lockdown of the home, I have had regular video calls and telephone calls and now we can enjoy socially distanced garden visits. With the support of the carers, this has made life for Mum easier. She is not so anxious and she relaxes and enjoys our visits. The staff make sure that Mum is comfortable during the hot weather, seated under a parasol, wearing suncream and when it was chilly, a blanket over her.

Very good indeed. The staff are kind and thoughtful and take the trouble to understand the character and requirements of each individual resident. They are sympathetic to and understanding of the needs of family members. Overall care and activities very well-tailored to those suffering from dementia/Alzheimers.

The staff are unfailingly cheerful, helpful and kind. They go above and beyond what they need to do to make both residents and their families feel at home and very welcome. The building feels homely with the many different rooms and the "log" stoves in winter. The conservatory is a lovely light environment even on damp days and the grounds are beautiful.

My mum has been a resident since Jan 7th. The care she has received has been amazing. Mum has been able to settle really easily. The staff have all been brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. All of the staff including ancillary and managerial just want the residents to be happy and safe. Our family have been very reassured that the difficult decision to consider residential care for our mum is the correct one. We cannot thank you all enough for your patience and support.

My mother-in-law has been with you for three years and she has always received caring and attentive friendly service from your staff and when she's had falls they have responded quickly and efficiently. My father moved in two days ago and the staff have made him feel welcome and are kindly helping him to settle in.

The food looks pleasant.

My father spent just two weeks in the Ryder Wing of Devonshire House in January 2017, where he died. But even in that brief spell, he was treated superbly and with great sensitivity. My mother has been a resident on the other side of the house for nearly three years and she has been looked after extremely well. She has a lovely room, in a welcoming environment and all the staff have attended to her needs day-by-day with great skill, patience and care and they have coped with crises admirably.

My father was in Devonshire House for some 2 years. He was 94 when admitted. He was deaf, had lost the use of his legs, was doubly incontinent and had mild dementia. I visited him every week.

My father was happy and was impressed by the way that he was looked after. He became fond of the staff and they of him.

I was impressed by the home and the kindness and patience of the staff. My father died shortly before Christmas 2018.
