I am very happy with the excellent care and treatment my dad gets at Mayflower Care Home, I have personally seen an amazing improvement in my dad since he has been there and this makes me feel I can trust all the care team in doing what is best for my dad and I would highly recommend this care home.

All my family are very pleased with the care that my mum receives in Diamond Unit. My mum was extremely frail when she was discharged to Mayflower via hospital in August 2020. However, since then my mum has been thriving; this is due to the fantastic care and wholesome food that she receives and the calm and well-led surroundings that she resides in. The staff are always kind and compassionate towards my mum and they are friendly and welcoming towards the family.

My wife has been at Mayflower for about 4 years now, all the staff have been brilliant throughout her stay, I just can't thank them enough, they have given her all the care and attention that she needs and more, I thank them each and every one.

Wonderful nursing/care home.
Very well organised, great activities/events. Dad is treated as one of their own family. We stumbled onto this home during the first lockdown and have built up a very good relationship with all the staff. We are so very lucky to have Dad in this home, he is genuinely settled which can be tricky for many dementia patients.

Thank you.

My Nan was left facing the wall wet in her wheelchair and they had taken her buzzer away that they use to call the staff all because she has a water infection and needs the toilet every hour. They would refuse to take her to the toilet and said wet yourself and we will change you. They also refused to use pads and gave her other people's clothes. I am very unhappy about her care she was only in the home for six months. Was the worst six months of our life. I cared for her for three years on my own, I did a much better job. I wish her children never put her in this home.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with your grandmother’s care while she was with us. These really are not instances that we recognise or that are indicative of the high standard of care that we provide. We sincerely wish that you had raised your concerns with us at the time as we would most...

My mother currently resides at Mayflower on Sapphire unit.
Mum was moved to Mayflower after struggling to settle in a different home.
All the staff at the home have learnt how to deal with Mum's difficult needs and I feel they take great care of her in a dignified and adult way.
The food at the home seems to be of a good standard and from what I gather from the relative's gateway, my mother eats very well whether this is assisted or non assisted.
Mum is given the freedom to wander the floor which is what she tends to do day in, day out. Sometimes the staff walk with her and talk to her whilst doing so.
Staff are always polite and forthcoming when I visit and always on hand if I need to ask for advice.

I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a kind clean safe environment for their loved one.

Due to dementia, my husband needed constant attention when he first came to the Mayflower, the friendly staff provided this and were kind and caring to him - and to me when I visited. Though he's now improved, I appreciate the ongoing care he receives.

His unit is kept spotlessly clean and tidy, staff are always available to ensure patient and resident safety. Hygiene and covid precautions are rigorously observed and I visit regularly.

Meals are excellent with snacks and drinks available throughout the day and I can see how my husband is and what he's been doing by reading the relatives gateway online at any time. I can also ring the unit and pass a message or ask for news. During a recent necessary lockdown, the family and I were able to have online video chats directly with him, which helped greatly.

I am very happy that my mum found a place like this. Staff do what is in their availability to make her feel more like home, even though she is not good at communicating and cannot speak English. I really appreciate the effort of the staff and management to make her stay as good as possible. Very grateful for these kind passionate people.

My husband has been a resident at the Mayflower Care Home for nearly 3 years. During that time he has resided on the second floor and now the first for nursing care.

During all the time he has been there all the staff have always been extremely kind and helpful to him and me, and I can never recall any incident whatsoever where I have ever doubted that he is well looked after. I have visited when the staff may have been unaware I had arrived so their kindness has not been put on merely because I was there.

My mother has extreme dementia and has been in Mayflower since 2018. I cannot commend this care home enough. Their professional attribute goes beyond expectations. The staff not only care for the residents but also the love they show towards them. My mother is again smiling and dancing. I couldn’t wish for more.

I have been impressed by the care of the Mayflower staff. The demands of the job demonstrate a vocational calling by staff.
Care is tailored to the various unique individuals who have differing needs, health and abilities.
I have observed respect for residents and professional dealing even if a resident's behavior is challenging because of illness or confusion.

The food looks good and the rooms and lounge are kept clean. Some amazing staff.

My husband was transferred to the Mayflower in August 2020 during the pandemic.
This was a very difficult time for the family and the staff have helped us to get through it.
We would like to say that he continues to receive excellent care and we have no concerns about the home at present.
We find all the staff very friendly and always engaging.

We follow my husband's progress daily with the relatives gateway which is a wonderful way of keeping up to date with all his care requirements. The food provided is of great variety and my husband continues to eat very well maintaining his body weight. The room which he is in is light, bright and clean with a good en-suite bathroom.

My husband now regards this as his home and we see the staff as family, can’t recommend this home enough.

I have to give a huge shout out to staff at Mayflower nursing home, our dad is there at the moment and they have been amazing in keeping us in touch with him. He’s a bit below par at the moment and the care he is getting is second to none. These ladies are risking their health every day keeping our loved ones safe and secure. We have nothing but praise for them. I will be clapping for not only NHS workers this evening but for these ladies as well.

Following my spouse's fifth anniversary of admission on the 19th February 2015, my experience during the past five years can be equated to two halves. The improvements made by the owners, and especially by the home management team, have demonstrated that positive results can be achieved by astute investment. The employment of good quality care staff and the training programme completed for the Associate Practitioner's qualification have enhanced the overall provision of the service by Mayflower Care Home. The increase in various daily activities for residents with encouragement given for their participation is praiseworthy. Compared to the first half of my spouse's residency, the second half's improvements made to her stable mental capacity and her continued active life is of great comfort to me in our forty-sixth wedding anniversary year.
