Review from Diane (Sister of Resident) published on 23 October 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My sister has been a resident at the Manorhey Care Home for several years and I would like to thank the new manager who arrived at the Manorhey Care Home in August 2020.

Since arriving, she has brought the Manorhey back to the standard of where it should be, which is a very well run care home. Due to the pandemic, I have not been able to meet her in person but I have communicated with her on the telephone. I think she is doing a fantastic job and I would highly recommend the Manorhey Care Home to anyone who is looking for a care home. The Manorhey is now back on track and has again become a caring and friendly place once again. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for all your hard work, you are making my sister a lot happier and I am sure all the residents now feel the same. Thank you.

My mother-in-law was admitted to Manorhey as a discharge to assess following a hospital admission during the COVID-19 crisis. Sadly she deteriorated very suddenly and was not expected to live. The staff enabled family members to visit to say their goodbyes. As a family, we observed excellent, gentle and outstanding care to our mother, but the care to ourselves was outstanding. They were compassionate, understanding and generous and exceeded our expectations in every way.

My mum has been at Manorhey for nearly 10-years. The care, love and support given is outstanding for both my mum and my family. Everyone I came in contact with was always helpful and understanding. They all were a credit to this profession. The surroundings are luxurious and spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for dementia care.

My mother in law was placed here as an emergency respite placement due to my father in law's illness. From the first assessment, I felt extremely comfortable about leaving her in the care of Manorhey. The staff, atmosphere and whole experience was really good.

Thank you to you all.

The friend I visited regularly at all times of the day, was very comfortable, always clean, washed and dressed in freshly laundered nighties and clothes. There were no unpleasant smells in any of the day rooms or bedrooms. Any issues I had over care needs were always addressed to my satisfaction and the staff were caring and helpful. Always.

My wife was a resident at Manorhey Care Home from May 2018 to April 2019. In that time I was very impressed with the care given and also pleased with the overall standard and the facilities.

I find the Manorhey to be excellent with a very kind and understanding staff to deal with vulnerable patients and I'm very happy that my wife got a placement there.

Cannot praise them highly enough.

Prior to going to Manorhey Care Centre my husband was in hospital for a few weeks and was not allowed to get out of bed (due to a 'balance' problem and was prone to falling) therefore, he lost use in his legs and arms. Since being in Manorhey Care Centre (which took a while to settle in) he is happier, talking more, is being taken out of his room to join in activities in the lounge, eat at a table in the dining room and feed himself. All of this is due to the caring and friendly staff.

A home that cares for the residents and their families. Although there have been some issues in the past, they have worked hard to rectify these.

My mum became a resident at Manorhey in March 2018.
Amongst other problems, she has Alzheimers, causing severe dementia, hence she was very confused over the early months. Staff were very caring and did their best to reassure Mum and help her to settle.
They also took the trouble to reassure me that Mum would be cared for and that she would eventually settle in. Activity staff try and persuade Mum to join in activities where appropriate to help occupy her. She has been taken out 3 times during the summer and really enjoyed this. (She walks with a frame and has to be supervised). She has also enjoyed the lovely home gardens through last summer.

Special pureed diet and thickened drinks provided. A few issues but management are always keen to address those.
