Kirkwood Court Care Home

Smart, clean. Staff are attentive and caring. Expensive, but you only get what you pay for. Meals are good but service is poor. A plus.

Only one niggle when evening meal comes the meat or poultry is hard or dry.

Lovely decor and kept very clean. The majority of staff are kind and helpful and really looked after my mum in the 4 months. She was there until her needs became more that of a nursing home. Do feel it was understaffed and that did impact on how quickly they could help her.

All staff are more than happy to go the extra mile for their residents and also relatives.

My nana became a resident of Kirkwood Court in North Kenton, they were great with her. I would like to thank them all for looking after my nana before she passed. Thank you again.

I feel that the home is not as good as it was when my mother first became a resident 3 yrs ago. The home had more staff then, 3 carers and a senior carer every day. Now when I go in, it's not very often that there are more than 2 carers and a senior. Therefore personally I think the home is understaffed for the amount of care that the residents need, the carers they have far too much paperwork to see to, which takes the time away from the care of the residents. Also then I was very impressed with not just the care but also the activities that were taking place every day, but sadly that also seems to be no more. Again it is not very often activities take place like it used to. Hopefully, these are just hiccups and the standards return.

For a number of needy residents, this home is (and has been for some time) understaffed. Too much paperwork for staff to give priority attention to residents.

Secure home - not able to wander in or out. Clean and comfortable. Staff good and helpful. Residents always appear content and well looked after. My mother was a resident several years ago and my husband and I use a chiropody service they provide. We now have been involved for over 15 years.

Really lovely care home. Very clean and very friendly. Everyone speaks as they pass you and always very polite if you ask about anything. My granddad is very well cared for here.

Unfortunately, there has been a change of ownership of the home which resulted in a large turnaround of staff which has been unsettling to the residents. Overall, the home is clean, food is acceptable and the staff are very helpful and pleasant.

I have lived in Kirkwood Court for about a year. It is my home and it's great, I love it. I have made lots of friends and the staff are all very nice, they look after me. I go on trips on the bus to different places. Food is lovely and I'm eating too much. I would recommend living here.

The care home is above and beyond my expectations. The staff have been amusing in their and care towards my father. We have had a difficult time of late and they have helped in every way they possibly could. The home is immaculate and the food is fabulous, I have been very happy with Kirkwood Court. The lady on the second floor has been an absolute godsend to us all

Since my grandmother has been in Kirkwood Court she settled in very well. Care staff and management staff are wonderful and always there to help. It is a very clean and well presented. Food is excellent. I would recommend highly a really good home.

My great-uncle was very independent and became very depressed following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's as he couldn't cope on his own anymore. He eventually agreed to a week of respite care. Although we were not close I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit when he was staying at Kirkwood Court. It wasn't until recently when I visited another care home that I realised how lucky my great-uncle had been. On my visit, I was greeted by the Manager who offered me a coffee and took me to his room. It was lovely, well decorated, clean and tidy, just like the rest of the home. He was never a joiner, and I was very surprised that he agreed to go to the dining room when a carer came to get him for tea. He looked really well and happy. There was great banter between the staff and the residents. I wanted to write a review as a thank you to the Manager and the fantastic team as this was the last time I saw my great-uncle and because of this, I can remember him at his best.

Otherwise, she seems quite happy and is now getting to know the staff.

Telephone messages could be passed onto our relatives as they worry if they don't know why we aren't visiting. Apart from that, everything is fine.
