Staff are so kind and thoughtful and patient with my father and his family in a difficult situation. We all were treated with dignity and respect. My father made a good recovery following his respite time in the home and that is due largely due to the care and support of staff and health services.

Mam has been here for 2 years and we are more than happy with the service provided. All issues are dealt with (i.e., health) immediately. As Mam is on the dementia floor we would like to praise all staff, including housekeepers and entertainment. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We leave here after
visiting, knowing Mam is in safe hands. Well done everyone.

Our Mam was brought to Kirkwood Court as a Respite Resident, she absolutely loves it here, the staff are lovely, always very approachable, her room is lovely, and the day rooms are just as nice. Mam has been out a few times on the minibus with other residents having trips out, which she loves.

Our Mam was brought to Kirkwood Court as a Respite Resident, she absolutely loves it here, the staff are lovely, always very approachable, her room is lovely, and the day rooms are just as nice, we attended a music event tonight, was absolutely brilliant, so many residents up dancing, all were singing,
including staff, a very enjoyable evening, can't wait until next one, but most of all, thank you so much for taking such good care of our Mam

My husband has been a resident here since November 2016 and I am very happy with the care he has received since coming here. The staff all look after him very well and they are friendly and welcoming. I feel comfortable knowing that he is safe and well looked after.

My Brother has been a resident in Kirkwood Court for the past three weeks and it has surprised me how quickly he has settled to his new surroundings. He was made very welcome by both the manager and the staff. The rooms are immaculate and he likes the food, which is of very good standard. Most of all
the staff are very caring and understanding and nothing is too much trouble for them.

My Dad has been in Kirkwood for 4 months, he has settled well due to amazing staff. He has also put of 7 kilos of weight which we are very happy about. He is now a permanent resident which gives us both peace of mind. I never thought my Dad would like living in a care home but, because of the staff,
(carers and housekeeping), he does and at 91 years old that's amazing.

Smart, clean. Staff are attentive and caring. Expensive, but you only get what you pay for. Meals are good but service is poor. A plus.

It was our first choice from three local care homes. It's comfortable and secure warm and friendly. Could do with chairs that help raise residents from them.
Only one niggle when evening meal comes the meat or poultry is hard or dry.

Lovely decor and kept very clean. The majority of staff are kind and helpful and really looked after my mum in the 4 months. She was there until her needs became more that of a nursing home. Do feel it was understaffed and that did impact on how quickly they could help her.

Excellent care home. Can't fault anything. Friendly staff who are extremely professional. Spotlessly clean. Amazing home cooked food. Definitely, home from home.
I think the care home management team are a cut above the rest.
All staff are more than happy to go the extra mile for their residents and

I feel that the home is not as good as it was when my mother first became a resident 3 yrs ago. The home had more staff then, 3 carers and a senior carer every day. Now when I go in, it's not very often that there are more than 2 carers and a senior. Therefore personally I think the home is understaffed
for the amount of care that the residents need, the carers they have far too much paperwork to see to, which takes the time away from the care of the residents. Also then I was very impressed with not just the care but also the activities that were taking place every day, but sadly that also seems to be no more. Again it is not very often activities take place like it used to. Hopefully, these are just hiccups and the standards return.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate all feedback received as it helps us to improve our service where required. The ground floor is for residential residents and we expect and indeed promote a certain level of independence. There is a maximum of 25 Residents and we have always allocated a senior carer and two care assistants to this floor, even if there is a reduction in the occupancy. Staffing levels are measured against the dependency of the Residents and when there are more Residents with higher dependencies, we put an extra member of staff on the ground floor to help - this may be just in the morning, around meal times or on some occasions for the whole shift. This has occurred more so lately than in the past, as we have had an influx of new Residents. The staffing at night is sometimes increased from two to three, and we have a good relationship with the local colleges and universities so it is rare that we do not have a student on work placement too. We have struggled to recruit to our Wellbeing Coordinators maternity leave, however, the care staff have been working very hard to entertain those Residents who do want to take part. We have had some wonderful entertainers visit the home, and we have regular armchair exercises, sing alongs, rookie golf, weekly bus trips and the students do a lot of one to one reminiscing. Our planned Christmas program of activities is exciting and sure to please. We do hope this puts your mind at rest, however, please do speak to the Home Manager should you require further information or assistance

Secure home - not able to wander in or out. Clean and comfortable. Staff good and helpful. Residents always appear content and well looked after. My mother was a resident several years ago and my husband and I use a chiropody service they provide. We now have been involved for over 15 years.

Unfortunately, there has been a change of ownership of the home which resulted in a large turnaround of staff which has been unsettling to the residents. Overall, the home is clean, food is acceptable and the staff are very helpful and pleasant.
