Kirkwood Court Care Home

Our mam was admitted to Kirkwood in 2018 after becoming unable to manage in her own home. From the moment she arrived until she left just a few weeks ago to stay in a nursing home in Sheffield my sister and I have been hugely impressed by the care and commitment of every single member of staff. Not only have they cared for our mam wonderfully well, but we have been made to feel really welcome every time we have visited. Obviously, Covid presented major challenges but at no time did we feel mam was at serious risk as the staff ensured protocols were in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all the residents. We would have no hesitation in recommending Kirkwood to anyone needing to be in a care home.

My mother spent two and a half years at Kirkwood, and in that time, which included the pandemic with all its difficulties, she was cared for with wonderful dedication. All the staff, from domestic/housekeeping to carers, administrators and senior staff, were unfailingly kind, patient, helpful and resourceful to both my mother and to us as family and friends. I have already heartily recommended Kirkwood and will continue to do so.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful and caring towards the needs of my great Aunty. I have not been able to visit as much as I would have liked due to the current restrictions but, think it has been handled very well. I work in a different County as an officer in the fire service and the staff have been great in arranging a through the window visit so I can be at least satisfied my Aunty is well. They seem to go above and beyond, by bringing my Aunt to the window as I return home from a shift.

Staff are professional, caring, enthusiastic well trained and all are kind and are prepared to go the extra mile to make my father comfortable, obviously, I only have very limited contact 30 minutes per week and I hope these observations continue when I'm not around. My father has had a few concerns but they are sorted immediately.

Very helpful, staff are smashing, lovely and clean. Very enjoyable visit, much appreciated.

My wife is keeping very well in Kirkwood Court. She is well cared for by very dedicated staff who are very kind to her and me.

Plenty of activities.

Most carers I have come into contact with have been lovely and helpful.

Since my relative came to Kirkwood Court Care Home he has been very happy. The staff are brilliant and engage with him all the time, they encourage him to get involved with activities and always look after his well-being. They have kept me well informed throughout the pandemic and went to great lengths to protect residents.

The staff are always friendly and helpful and I know my mum is safe and cared for.

Well organised visit to see my mum, good set up for testing and separate visiting area with staff bringing mum down to the room and collecting at the end of the visit. I have been pleased to get more regular telephone updates on how mum is getting on (medication/ailments etc) from care staff as it can be difficult relying on updates from mum.

My Grandma has been in this home for 4 years now, and I have never once had any issues with the way she is looked after. She is always immaculate ad is always happy. I can sleep at night knowing she is getting the best possible care. Even during the pandemic, I haven't had to worry at all about her. Thank you for all the hard work to make it such a happy place for my Grandma.

I could not be happier with the care my mam receives. In my opinion, all of her needs are met in every way. She is so happy here and calls it her home. All members of staff are very respectful towards my mam. I wouldn't change a thing, she is so happy.

I have found the staff at Kirkwood Court Care Home to be highly professional, caring and very friendly. The care and attention given to my mother exceeds my expectations in all situations. The attitude and concern over this past year has been amazing in conditions that no one could have anticipated, they have kept their residents alive and well in the direst of circumstances. Respect.

Correspondence between myself and Kirkwood Court has been frequent and informative. I have received fortnightly telephone calls, monthly newsletters (with updates about guidelines - local and national and HC One), also about activities. There has also been monthly Zoom meetings. I was very touched by the attentiveness towards me and my mother on her 90th birthday. We had a closed window visit and they had brought a cake and some presents into the room so I could watch her open them. The staff are wonderful!

My aunt has been well cared for in this care home, certainly, since Covid. It has been very difficult to visit, but frequent phone calls have been made to make sure all my aunt's needs are met, which they have been.

All staff members have been brilliant under continuing difficult times. They are always happy to help and with a smile.

My father was admitted after a spell in hospital, it was a difficult time for the family but the staff were very friendly and supportive they erased our worries and concerns. The care he is receiving is excellent and we are happy with all aspects of the care home.

Prior to Covid, I visited almost every day. Since then visits have been restricted to six garden/dining room visits since March 2020. I have used facetime several times and although my wife is unable to respond I can see that she is well which is important to me. I have been very impressed by those who organised the visits.

They work so hard and our entire family are extremely thankful to each and every one of the team.
