Dearne Hall is a contemporary residential and dementia care home located in the heart of the Bolton-upon-Dearne community. It continues to welcome new residents for respite and permanent care.

Every single bedroom in the purpose-built home provides comfortable surroundings with the benefit of an en-suite wet room. The home has the benefit of a tea room area.

The home is operated by Anchor and provides residential care and care for older people living with dementia, which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of customers and enhance their quality of life.

The care team works with customers and their loved ones to create detailed care plans to ensure each individual’s health and care needs are continually met. Anchor provides on-going training to care staff to ensure their approach always reflects best practice.

Some issues with mother's mobility (walking). She cannot do this activity but mother says a person says she can do it, and also has never refused any treatment from a doctor but says on her record that she had? I've not seen the records, only mother's say so, but overall she's very happy with the care
she receives here. I have no concerns with any treatment or care I have witnessed on our visits or talking to others.

My mum has been in Dearne Hall for just over a year now and has settled in very well. She has gone from being unsettled and confused to being calm and settled. The staff at the home are amazing, they are very caring and sensitive to my mum's needs, nothing is too much trouble. The daily activities are
very well planned and my mum loves to join in. All staff keep you informed of any changes or hiccups my mum may have. The food in the home is lovely, well prepared and always smells lovely. All in all, I can't praise the staff enough for the great job they are doing.

My mum spent her last few weeks at Dearne Hall, the Deputy Manager and his staff on floor 1 were amazing, the care and dignity, respect that was given to my mum and our family was above and beyond all expectations, my sisters and I practically moved in for 5 days and nights to be with my mum in her
final days. The staff, several in particular, were absolutely amazing and kind they really cared about my mum and us, such a lovely home where families can be reassured that their loved ones are receiving the care they need. Thank you to all the staff, the ones I can't remember the names of but everyone on floor 1 for the loving care you showed my mum, you should all be very proud of yourselves.

My mother was admitted to Dearne Hall from hospital and has been there just over a month. Before moving to Dearne Hall she was deteriorating rapidly being unable to care properly for herself. Visiting carers were very good but she really needed more support. In Dearne Hall she has 24 hour high quality
care and has started to mix with the other residents so has company and there are often arranged activities/entertainment. All the staff seem excellent and we are able to relax knowing that she is safe and cared for.

My mum has been at Dearne Hall only seven months and I am extremely pleased with the care she receives. Nothing seems to be any trouble for the staff in doing things for my mum. She always looks clean and tidy and has her nails and hair done on a regular basis.
The home is very clean and very homely
and we as a family are very pleased she is where she is.

My dad was placed at the home during the Covid pandemic. It’s been a difficult year for us as a family having to make the difficult decision to place dad in care due to the rapid deterioration in his cognition. The safety of his well-being was our main priority and having placed him into a lovely caring
environment has helped in our coming to terms with his condition.
Even though our visits have been limited Dad has always appeared to be clean, dry and well looked after. Staff are always friendly and caring and happy to answer any questions.
We are kept updated on any key issues. We are looking forward to being able to build on our relationship with staff once restrictions are lifted.
It’s hard to complete the options as we have very limited experience in observing what is being asked due to not being able to access the home due to covid restrictions.

I would recommend Dearne Hall care home without a shadow of doubt. My dad was welcomed in the home and from the very beginning he loved it. He tells me all the time how happy he is. The staff are wonderful, very friendly, caring and respectful. The meals are outstanding and plenty of choices.
The home
used to have regular entertainers and outings but due to covid things are slightly different but the residents are still entertained and cared for as best they can. The home has been refurbished and looks like a hotel. I am so pleased I have Deane hall care home for my dad, it meets all his needs and more.

My mother was a resident of Dearne Hall for three years and although it's always hard when a loved one has to go into care. We were always reassured that she was well cared for and respected - so when my cousin needed 24-hour care, we didn't hesitate in contacting Dearne Hall. He has now been a resident
for 18 months and is very happy there. He loves the food and the banter with the staff who are unfailingly kind and once again the care is exemplary.

Mum came in in December 2016 with dementia, dad followed not far behind in January 2017 very bad health unable to care for himself, they both received very good care. Sadly mum died in December 2018, she was cared for with dignity and love right up to the end. We were involved every step of the way.
Dad was cared for during his grief and we visited on a regular basis. As his health has deteriorated his care has changed as needed and as he's mostly in bed these days he can be a bit isolated as time for long carer visits are limited. As covid came along we were not allowed to visit and we were a bit upset with arrangement made for window visits as we were open to the elements. With new management in place things improved and shelter was provided making dad happier because he hated seeing us out in bad weather. Through no fault of Dearne Hall indoor visits have been sporadic but well run when we were allowed. Dad says he's very happy with his care, especially during these hard times. That makes me very happy!

Dearne Hall is a lovely care home. The staff are simply amazing. Not only do they provide the best care for my mum, but they understand and support how difficult it is for me and my dad. It is a clean, warm and friendly home. I feel like one of the family when I am here.

The staff are amazing and my husband had excellent personal care there for 11 months. However, the owners do not employ an activities coordinator and whether a resident is at early or late-stage dementia residents do require stimulation. I've moved him into a home that does provide daily stimulation
and it's the best move I made. Dearne Hall is pricey too in comparison to others. This wouldn't have been an issue if activities occurred on a daily basis. A little niggle was that one wardrobe door was missing throughout his stay which was reported to The Manager on more than one occasion.

I was very satisfied with the care my dad received.
I only have two little issues. The first was my dad was put in one room but when we came to collect him he had been put in a different room. Could you please make sure the room you give him he remains in.
Also, a few of his clothes had gone missing
- that was probably my fault as I had not labelled them.
When he comes again I will make sure all clothes are labelled.

I am no longer able to spend time with my wife at Dearne Hall Care Home, but during the three years she spent there before her death, I knew she was content and happy, which was in no small way due to the wonderful, caring staff. She was always treated with the utmost respect and her dignity never impinged.
Being a kind and caring person herself I am sure she appreciated the great kindness she received from all staff at the home, without exception.
I must thank all at the home for the kindness and consideration shown to me and my eternal gratitude for all the loving care she received. The dedication of all staff at Dearne Hall is second to none and I cannot praise you enough.

All the staff at Dearne Hall are all very caring, they spend time with all the residents doing activities for every occasion that arises. They treat everyone with dignity and always respect their privacy. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, clothes are washed, pressed and return quickly to wardrobes.


My family and I are always greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly smile, which puts my mind at rest knowing my husband is well looked after.

My mother has resided here since January 2015. To begin with, she was quite unsettled with her new environment but with the support and care of carers, she has really settled down. Communication is always good between the home and myself and I feel content now that my mother is being well cared for,
making sure her personal needs are met. I have recommended the home to several people as I feel it offers value for money and person-centered care.
