I thought Acer House was wonderful. The staff are very thoughtful and kind. They have provided a home from home for my mother. A great relief for me to know she is so well looked after.

My mother has been at Acer House for about a year and as far as I can tell, she is very happy.

On the occasions I have visited her, the staff have demonstrations that they are very caring and despite having to deal with regular challenges, they still cope well.

I and my two daughters visited many care homes before choosing this one which we believed stood out from the rest and in the time my wife has been there we have no reason to doubt that we made the right decision. First and foremost, the staff are so caring and obviously dedicated and the facilities are outstanding. All our friends and family who have visited my wife have agreed that we would have been hard pressed to find a home that could offer more. Again the care shown by staff is amazing.

From the initial introduction, we felt extremely relaxed and happy about the care Mum was about to receive.
She has been treated really well, by extremely pleasant staff. It is clearly a place where people like to work and it shows with the happy residents.

Mum and our family have enjoyed her staying here.

I have very much appreciated the hospitable and friendly attitude of staff at Acer House. Very constructive help with all aspects and issues surrounding my friend who is resident at this nursing home. Acer House is a fine example of everything a nursing home should be.

My mother had to move from her own apartment because of her disability and frequent falls. We were concerned how she would cope going into a care home after living independently up to the age of 92. From day one at Acer House we knew that she would be happy there and she is. The home is bright, cheerful, clean and modern. The care staff are just amazing, so approachable, nothing is too much trouble and any requests are sorted immediately. It's such a relief to us, her family, to know that mum is happy, settled and well cared for.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Acer House Care Home. The care they gave to my mum in her last days was outstanding and the care and compassion they showed to me as well were second to none. Thank you Acer House for looking after all of us in these last few days/weeks. You made a very difficult time as gentle as possible.

My Mother-in-law has very limited mobility and has lived here for 6 weeks following discharge from hospital. From the beginning, nothing has been too much trouble. Moving in / liaison with hospital / sorting out medication, GP etc. was faultless. Her room is lovely with a large, fully adjustable bed and she was encouraged and helped to personalise it. The food is excellent. She chooses to eat in her room, but the dining room is pleasant with fresh flowers on the table (arranging them is one of the activities) staff are always helpful and pleasant. The ensuite wet rooms, with disabled facilities, in each room, are excellent. Probably the most important thing (for a lady who cannot move unaided) to the best of my knowledge, is when she rings the bell for help it is answered promptly and courteously. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We are lucky.

My mum has been cared for in Ashcombe since mid-2014 and my dad on Milton since early 2015 to enable them to "live together" despite their very different states of health/care needs. We experienced two other less satisfactory local care homes prior to moving mum and dad to Acer House and have nothing but praise for the caring staff, the amazing activities, lovely surroundings and rooms and the relationships staff (junior to senior, care or admin or other service) have with our parents and with myself and my brother and our offspring. We feel our parents have the best possible quality of life in their circumstances due to the care Acer House provides and we feel listened to, respected and valued.

Such a lovely home! The staff make you feel so welcome, they always go that extra step to making you feel at home rather than a visitor. My grandchildren love to come with me, they are catered for too. Just ask for the toy box! I was so happy that I was able to join my friend for lunch. These things really do make a difference.

My father passed away last week a Acer Home after a year of superb care given to him, the staff were excellent so was his surroundings nothing was too much trouble, he died peacefully in his chair in his room which he loved, the staff were just as upset as we as a family were. I will miss going to the home regular for my coffee and cake with dad. I can't thank them enough.

Although my mother is happy at the home, my brothers and our wives have been a little disappointed with some aspects of our mother's stay. Communication has not always been good. While there are some activities for residents, there is little effort to make sure that residents take part in activities so that my mother spends a lot of time doing nothing in her room. It would be nice if the staff took some initiative to help residents with simple tasks. I have in mind the television and radio. My mother is too proud to ask for help with these. As a result, she does not watch much TV or listen to the radio. It would help if staff asked her if she would like one or other device on.

My husband was transferred from another care home in Weston where I was not satisfied. The manager at Acer House was very supportive and helped me with the move to Acer House the next day. I am very pleased and satisfied with the care and support I have been having these last few days, and I'm sure this will continue.

Acer House is warm and welcoming when you enter, the atmosphere is lovely. The interior as well as the exterior is fresh and always looks nice. The staff are very helpful and happy to help. Nothing seems like it's too much for any of the carers or other staff. Would recommend Acer House to anyone looking for a care home for themselves or relative.

Sam Ealden
Sam EaldenJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2019

Hello, my name is Sam, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Acer House.

I have 20 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications including Levels 2, 3, and 5 Health and Social Care Diplomas, PTTLS Level 3, and Level 3 Health and Safety. Working in residential and nursing settings, I have been lucky enough to have a variety of roles including, a Carer/Senior Carer, Home trainer, Housekeeping, Chef, Activities Co-ordinator, and Deputy Manager, gaining plenty of experience and valuable skills.

Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One moment that I will cherish throughout my career was when I had the privilege to be taught how to knit by a very skilful resident living with dementia. It is such a great talent to withhold, and you will now often find me trying to join in with our knit-and-natter club.

I would best describe myself as someone who is very passionate, determined, and strong-minded. In my spare time, I spend most weekends cheering my son on from the sidelines at his football matches and love relaxing in the garden with my family.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Acer House, best stands out for their spacious, luxurious rooms, exceptional well-being programmes and highly trained, dedicated staff. And Acer House is no different. Our home is ideally situated in Weston-super-Mare, next to a beautiful park and boules green which is a favourite amenity amongst our residents.
