My father came here three weeks ago to be assessed for his future needs. We were made welcome straight away by all the staff.
Dad is very happy here and looks better in himself already.

A very relaxed and friendly environment.

All the staff at Wadhurst Manor have always been welcoming, understanding and supportive both to my mother and family. The feeling of it being a happy community is wonderful.
No sitting in front of a TV all day here! The entertainment and activities are fab and include everyone with a wide variety of things to be involved in.
This goes hand in hand with all the great care they provide.

After worrying so much about Mum having to move to a home and whether she would settle, I am so pleased and relieved I found Wadhurst Manor.

The home is always very welcoming and friendly. The manager is always happy to see you and polite. The home is always clean and tidy. My grandad is a bit of a struggle to get up each day. But the care staff do the hardest to make sure he's up on time for lunch, where he eats a lovely nutritious meal with lots of choice. Overall since the new manager, I feel the home is positive and things are looking up. Would like to see more outings for the residents and wider choice of activity.

This facility is excellent, but what makes it so special is the care, attention, warmth and love of the staff. Having seen this for myself, I find it hard to put into words but my best description would be that the staff at Wadhurst Manor are an extended family.

I visit at least twice a week, I find everybody so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and presented beautifully. The entertainment is enjoyed by everybody. I particularly like the way they send people on their what when they have passed on, very moving. I hope that in future years, I will have a place at Wadhurst Manor.

My mother has now been a resident for a year. During this time, there have been some management ups and downs but the carers have taken excellent care of her.

Always kind, they know the residents very well and always go the extra mile for them.

As a relative, I have been so impressed by the immediate feeling of warmth as you enter Wadhurst. The staff are unfailingly good-humoured and kind. They treat the residents with gentleness and bring a sense of fun into their lives. The activities, the seasonal decorations and the accessibility of the lounge/coffee area are all so important in bringing a lightness to the atmosphere.

The care provided was overall very good. Staff very friendly and caring, food was good although portion sizes could be bigger for visitors and those residents that have larger appetites asked if they would like more.

I have noticed that staff are overstretched on the first floor. Two staff does not seem in my opinion enough, especially when one goes on break or is called elsewhere. Patients have to wait long periods at times for toilet assistance, etc.

I have found Wadhurst Manor to be a most welcoming home from the very beginning when my mother arrived in June for respite. Over the weeks she has been very well cared for and looks really well. I cannot fault any of the staff with their attentive manner to Mum and indeed helping me and answering any questions or concerns I may have in this settling in process. My only criticism would be that the bedrooms are rather dreary and dark and I feel not cleaned to a high standard. Regarding activities, I would like to see more outings and a little more going on at weekends. The gardens need a lot of attention as currently, they look a mess - in need of green fingers and TLC like the residents.

Reply from Hollee Ralph, Administrator at Barchester Wadhurst Manor

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. You will notice that we have some decoration going on in the home at the moment and eventually all bedrooms will be refreshed. We also have a new member to our maintenance team, so the gardens will be receiving the TLC that they deserve.

A great relief to find a home with all staff dementia trained and secure, yet homely units for dementia residents. Good sized rooms and the ability to bring in your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Good range of activities and days out to choose from. Helpful and understanding staff.

The care home is situated in a beautiful setting. When a resident fell over, the staff members were fantastic. One laid down on the floor to comfort the resident and to provide support. He was aided immediately and professionally and it gave me real reassurance in the high quality of care given here. My Great-Aunt is happy here, the staff treat her like an old friend. Absolutely fantastic care here.

As a casual visitor from 'away', I am always impressed by Barchester homes (my mother was in a Barchester home also). My main observation of Wadhurst is that there always seems to be a shortage of staff. Staff at the home are always friendly and helpful in very difficult situations.
