I am just completing a one week of respite care at the Wadhurst Manor.

Being the first visit or stay in a care home, I had no idea what to expect while I recovered from a hip replacement. The care I received could not have been more appreciated. Being here for only one week (which was sufficient in my case) I was limited to how many residents I could meet, the staff were very caring and I never saw one who didn't speak to me and give me a big smile.

Reply from Catalin Gyulai, General Manager at Barchester Wadhurst Manor

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. As this was your first stay in a care home, we are very pleased to hear that you felt well cared for during your recovery from hip surgery. Even though you were with us for only a week, it means a great deal to know that the staff made you feel...

Thank you so much to the amazing Mark who works in facilities at Wadhurst Manor. Mark has made such a difference to my Grandfather's life by not only sorting his television out but popping into his bedroom every morning without fail to check that he has it switched on and the programme selection. This has transformed his entire day. Mark has really gone over & above. Thank you Mark!

We couldn't be happier with the care Mum & Dad have received at Wadhurst Manor. They are settling in really well, which is such a comfort to our family.
From the very beginning, the staff have been wonderful. Mohammed, the Home Administrator, carefully explained everything and guided us through the process with patience and kindness. Catalin, the General Manager, was absolutely brilliant throughout - professional, supportive, & genuinely caring. The nurses & care staff are excellent & clearly dedicated to the residents' wellbeing.
The rooms are comfortable & can be personalised, which really helps it feel like home. A particularly thoughtful touch was the welcome card with lovely words, along with a complimentary voucher for a haircut - a gesture that meant a lot.

The home is always clean & well-maintained. We're truly grateful for the care and kindness shown to Mum and Dad and would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a safe, supportive environment for their loved ones.

I came to Wadhurst Manor for 10 days respite care on Friday 31st October. We were welcomed by warm, helpful and friendly members of staff, after the admission procedure and formalities were completed I was introduced to the care team and residents. The room is well maintained clean and comfortable. The varied daily activities were mentally & physically stimulating. The food menu is varied and excellent. I have enjoyed my stay here tremendously and have had enormous benefit from it. I hope to come back again in the Spring.

My Father In Law required respite care after a fall. Wadhurst Manor were nothing but perfect. Not only did they have a space for my Father In Law within 24 hours but they made him feel welcome and at home straight away. The staff are friendly and caring. They couldn't do more for him. The rooms are a very good size, clean and friendly and the grounds are beautiful. The food was fantastic, lots of variety.

It gave my family time to breathe whilst we made arrangements for my Father In Law at home. Thank you for being so amazing! Would highly recommend to anyone.

Mum has been at Wadhurst Manor for 6 years now. I can honestly say that she has been very happy there. The whole team are just amazing. My Mother stayed at Barchester Wadhurst Manor for around 10 days and what turned out to be her her final days. The staff were very caring and professional especially with end-of-life care. I was even able to stay overnight in her last day or two so that I could be near her. I was so glad that she was in such a beautiful and peaceful environment and I felt extremely well supported with everything that was happening.

Wadhurst cared for my close friend and colleague for three years , until her death in May 2025. I made visits during this time, frequently phoned, stayed near by for a week in 2024 so viewed in a variety of ways , the care at every level. As a therapist in the hospice and care world I'm practised at noticing small details. I am delighted and felt really confident that my friend received really genuine , quality care and was known well, and made to feel that she was respected, understood and well care for. Her room was really her own safe space, was always well cared for, light , and fresh, with en-suite facilities, and she enjoyed the garden, and some activities that she chose to do. She enjoyed the food until her last illness. When she was no longer able to use her direct phone line due to her condition staff were very patient and helpful keeping me in touch, during her last illness. I believe end of life care is vital and am entirely grateful to you all. Thank you,

Whilst Wadhurst Care Home has many excellent facilities with excellent and kind carers, there is one aspect that really lets it down and that is the quality of the Food. It is generally served lukewarm and is very institutional and unappetising. The actual cooking of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The cutlery is often dirty (overloaded dishwashers/poor rinse programme/dishwashers need a deep clean?) and the crockery, particularly cups/mugs show signs of previous use.

My father stayed at Barchester Wadhurst Manor for a very short period leading up to his final days, after a stay in hospital. Whilst this was obviously a difficult time, the staff were very caring and made sure he was comfortable and well looked after. As visitors, we felt welcome and looked after. In that period, we had some emotional and upsetting discussions with the staff about end-of-life care but they were especially careful to ensure that we understood clearly what they were saying and able to do and that we were at peace with it. They even offered help for us to stay overnight. We are very grateful for the care and dignity they gave to my father.

The staff at Barchester Wadhurst Manor Care Home looked after my father when he spent three weeks of respite care at the home. All the staff were both efficient and kind and my father was very well looked after. His health improved during his three-week stay so that he was able to return to his own home after his respite care. I would recommend Wadhurst Manor Care Home to anyone who is elderly or has an elderly relative and who needs care. Many thanks to the staff.

I can't put into words how grateful we are to everyone at Barchester Wadhurst Manor. From the first moment we stepped through your door, we knew mum would be totally cared for and we were not wrong.
The warm, loving and welcoming environment you all create, feels like a true home and it's clear that you genuinely care about the well-being and happiness of everyone in your supervision. The exceptional patience, love and kindness every single one of you gave mum and dad was amazing. You make every day special.
It has brought us great comfort to know that mum has been in such capable and loving hands. You really do spread the love.
You put mum 'back together again' and put a sparkle back in her eyes and I am so grateful for that.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You truly make a difference in so many lives.
