Staff very friendly and helpfully attend to any needs. Nurses promptly answer or obtain answers to any medical problems and carefully watch that I safely self medicate. Variety of food is good and well cooked. I am quite happy here and enjoy many activities.

My husband has been diagnosed with Nonfluent Primary Progressive Aphasia which takes away many abilities including the ability to communicate. Therefore, it was a huge step for me to consider my husband going to a care home for respite especially in these current times. In the event, because of personal circumstances, my husband stayed at Wadhurst Manor for six weeks. I feel we were both dealt with kindly and with courtesy during this time. I was concerned and worried but I had advice and help where it was needed. My husband has indicated he enjoyed his holiday, particularly the food! I know how hard-pressed the staff are, dealing with dementia clients but I feel my husband had good care and has come home happy and content.

All during the lockdown period my husband has been continuously cared for and looked after in a most professional manner. He is a long term resident and has always been treated as one of the Wadhurst Manor family. It is his home and I am reassured that even when circumstances as now only allow outside, supervised visits, he remains settled, seems happy and content. I cannot thank the staff enough.

Following a very serious illness last year, the very hard decision came to put my dear mother into care where I knew she would receive the help she now needed. After an extensive search, I found Wadhurst Manor care home, where to my great relief; mother has settled into like a duck in water. I haven’t seen her this settled and happy for years. It is a great comfort to me, especially at this present unsettling time to I know 100% that my mother is safe and being looked after by the fantastic team. The staff work tirelessly to keep the residents fed and watered, clean and healthy and very much entertained... I am very grateful to you all; thank you?

The care staff were very understanding and attentive to my husband's likes and interests even thinking to take him on an outing to the local fire station (he's an ex-firefighter). Played the music he loves. The visiting therapy animals were wonderful as well.

My husband became a resident this week and my family and I have been absolutely blown away by the professional, caring and friendly staff which enabled my husband to settle in so well. The whole process could not possibly have gone smoother and we are so grateful to the manager and his wonderful caring team.
His room is very clean and spacious, the food is nutritious and delicious/nutritious and the daily activities he has enjoyed this week were plentiful, enjoyable and stimulating.
I was dreading how my husband would feel once he became a resident and I can honestly say the management and staff could not have done anything more or better and it is wonderful to know that my husband is now safe and so well cared for.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Barchester Wadhurst Manor.

My aunt stayed at Wadhurst Manor for one week over the Christmas period. She had a lovely time and would like to go back. The staff were friendly and caring. My aunt was on the residential floor.

Unfortunately, when we came to collect my aunt to take her home she was still in bed. This was due to lack of communication but the carer on duty soon got her up and ready to leave. The carer was not aware my aunt was leaving on that day.

Reply from Godwin Majoni, General Manager at Barchester Wadhurst Manor

Thank you Lydia for your invaluable feedback. I am pleased to note that your Aunt had a lovely time during her respite period over Christmas, but I am sorry that there was a lack of communication when you came to collect your Aunt. We will review our handover procedure to ensure this does not happen again. We look forward to meeting her again.

Being a bit of a control freak I was reluctant to move to Wadhurst Manor but I have been agreeably surprised by the feeling of being at home, rather than in a home. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, without being officious and nothing is too much trouble. The food is always appetising and there is a wide choice including vegetarian and vegan (I think) options. My room is spacious, comfortably furnished, airy and clean. My request for a high-backed chair was met within hours! A credit to Wadhurst.

Overall Experience
Wadhurst Manor is an incredible care home full of kind, gentle carers and warmth. It is kept absolutely immaculately by the housekeeper who is an absolute gem and goes over and above her role.
My Grandmother moved here from another home in August and she has been completely rehabilitated. When she moved she was unable to walk unaided, read or construct sentences. She can now do all of the above and is so happy again. She now has her sweet twinkly smile back. She is dressed beautifully every morning with much thought as she loves her jewellery, purple clothes and hair styled. I cannot thank the amazing carers on Amber Ward enough for what they have done for her and giving her the light back in her life. There is a kind carer who is out of this world and my grandmother absolutely adores her so thank you so much to this incredibly hardworking young lady. I always know when she’s working before I see her as my Grandmother is so alert and jolly.

Thank you so much again.
