I previously moved my brother to this care home from another. I was absolutely blown away with the cleanliness (no smells) The home wherever I went was absolute spotless. The care and empathy they show to the residents and people on care is absolutely unbelievable. God bless them they are like angels what I have seen in previous homes. The attention to detail they give to the residence nothing is too much trouble for them. Staff is always available and can be seen wherever you go. The meals are fab good wholesome food for the residents. If they need anything b what they fancy it's available chocolate milkshakes. Just want to give them a massive thank you for making my kind at peace for the care I can see what has been given. All of you keep up the fantastic work your doing hats off to you all

Our dad has settled into Swinton Grange really well. He is starting to build some lovely relationships with the staff. Janet and her team are great and put the residents needs first. Janet is on hand to answer any concerns we might have, not that there has been many, and puts our minds at rest instantly. Well done Swinton Grange you should be proud of the service you give x

Our father's previous care home was unable to meet his needs and we were faced with having to move him. This was no easy task. However from the very first meeting, Janet, the manager, and her team were hugely supportive. Janet went above and beyond the call of duty to help us with this very difficult transition for our father. Since then, the support from management, the nursing and the care team has been of a very high quality. Communication across the care home is excellent.
We are provided with regular updates about his medical/nursing needs and generally how he appears to be from day to day. Our father has presented as quite agitated and difficult to manage at times. However, we feel very confident and reassured that he is well looked after and cared for by the staff and that his changing needs are being monitored and addressed.

Additionally, the food is great and we feel very welcome as a family. Many thanks for all your support and looking after our father so well!

My experience has been very positive from the first visit . On our arrival we were met by two staff members who greeted us with warm smiles and were so welcoming we immediately felt at ease . Once inside my sister-in-law was shown to her room , which is very pleasant, and then introduced to other patients and members of staff in the the communal area . Everyone was so warm and welcoming to us , I immediately knew that my relative would receive the very best of care at Swinton Grange . Over the first week she showed vast signs of improvement in both her physical and cognitive behaviour .Any concerns are quickly dealt with and all our queries answered . A huge thank you to all the staff

My father was moved from a care home to Swinton Grange due to not being able to meet his needs there, I have to say the difference in nursing care from Swinton Grange is far beyond expectations. His level of care is fabulous along with the staffing levels of commitment is beyond belief. Management levels of communication are very very good and commitment to care for residents is very beyond good its excellent.

My uncle has recently moved here.
I am astounded at his progress here in just a few short weeks.
He is much more settled in himself and is unwilling himself in activities and conversations with staff.
I am so pleased he is here!

The staff (all of them!) are approachable, informative of my uncles care and have (from what I see) a brilliant rapport with him.

Overall Experience

My mum moved to Swinton Grange at the beginning of February 2025 after a sudden decline in health following surgery for a broken ankle in November 2024. She had gone into Delirium while in hospital & ended up in intermediate care for over 2 months, She was often unable to feed herself could hardly walk was very agitated & had become quite aggressive at times. After moving to Swinton Grange, the difference in mum is amazing, she is less confused. No longer agitated or aggressive. She can walk again & feeds herself as normal. She's really settled & has made friends with both staff & other residents. The staff can't do enough for her, she wanted to change room & they made it happen. They keep me updated on any changes & she is seen regularly by the local GP. The food is fantastic. There's plenty of activities for them. I couldn't be happier with her care & the peace of mind she is being well looked after. Thank you to all the staff.

During my visits to the home visiting my friend I have seen a remarkable difference in her overall physical and mental health and well being.
It is wonderful to see each and every time the high quality of care delivered and kindness that is shown consistently and genuinely to all service users by all staff members.
It is clear that from initial assessment through transition to settling into her new home here her quality of life has increased and improved significantly.
A large range of activities are always offered and available with a dynamic activity coordinator who is super friendly, patient and supportive.
Initially she was not eating due to her condition, within a short time of being here the staff have put together an individualistic holistic approach which has worked wonders! My friend is now eating, drinking and enjoying her meals!

I have worked in many different nursing homes over the years, this home stands out miles. I highly recommend!

Hello, my name is Janet Sheppard, and I am the Home Manager for Swinton Grange Care Home, where I have been in post since March 2022. I have been with the Company, Hermes Care since 2021 and was successful in my appointment to this home last year.
I have been in the Care Industry for over 30 years and am well equipped with the skills required to be fully competent in meeting the care and wellbeing needs of our residents.
My experience began at home aged 14 having to look after my ill mother, after this I decided caring for others would be my vocation. I then went on to work in various Care Homes with Mental Health and challenging behaviours, which include EMI Dementia physical disabilities, learning disabilities, neurological and spinal disabilities. I have a wide range of experience in all areas having worked my way up from a Care Assistant to a Home Manager.
I hold a level 5 Diploma in leadership and management. I am trained in Non-Abusive Psychological Physical Interventions (N.A.P.P.I) which supports the staff team to implement positive strategies to manage residents who may present with challenging behaviours. I believe understanding our residents' limitations helps us to build on their strengths in order to make a positive contribution towards improving the quality of their daily lives.
As a staff team we believe one smile a day is worth every bit of the hard work the staff team here implements because it allows our resident to know that they matter.
We have developed a Dementia friendly home with tactile, sensory, visual prompts, picture aids and activities to enhance our residents communication and orientation thus ensuring our home is fit for purpose to meet the needs of the residents.

If you are looking for a permanent home from home for your loved one, please rest assured that they will be made to feel safe and comfortable in a friendly environment, treated with kindness with an emphasis that they matter.

I have been one of the Administrators since December 2021. Prior to that I worked for 24 years in Criminal Law and wanted a new vocation in my Twilight Years.

It is a really challenging position and I love how every day is different, the residents are wonderful and it is my aim to help make a difference to their lives, even it is a small one.
