I have found that Orchard House is a well run care home, and is always clean and a homely atmosphere. The staff are efficient, care for their residents and look after them well. They are always cheerful and friendly to everyone. I personally would like them to find time to take the less able to the activities that are run for the residents.I think with these extreme hot and humid conditions, which are occurring more often yo should be considering installing air-conditioning.

My mother was admitted to Orchard House Care Home in the summer of 2023. She was beautifully looked after by the dedicated staff there. They were so kind and friendly. It was very reassuring to get calls from them saying the Mum needed this or that and they always communicated with me when there were any problems. Sadly her clinical needs gradually outstripped the capacity of the care home to look after her so she was transferred to a nursing home nearby. All the staff were so kind and helpful about effecting Mum's transfer which was handled with care and efficiency. I have nothing but praise for the dedicated staff at Orchard House. The other really reassuring thing was the low staff turnover - always a good sign IMO

I was a resident for a week's respite care following a serious fracture to my kneecap. I was extremely well cared for in every respect and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I am a coeliac sufferer and my dietary requirements were well provided for. The lunches in particular were really good - nourishing and filling.

A wonderful care home with very patient and understanding staff. Always helpful and willing to listen to any issues. The care they provide is excellent and ask so glad we got our mum into this home. The staff work with some very difficult residents and show the utmost care and patience with people suffering one of the worse things possible that can happen to an elderly person.

My family and I are so grateful and thankful for this care home and their wonderful staff.

Dad has been a resident for just over 2 years and we have found the staff to be polite and friendly. They always ring me to let me know of any changes regarding dad's care which gives me peace of mind. Although dad has dementia he is always treated with dignity, and they all know his name.

My relative has been at Orchard House for a year and it is good knowing they seem content by kind, compassionate and caring staff. The next of kin get to know of issues that arise and consulted on their resolution. My mum has been in Orchard House since March, I cannot praise them highly enough for the care they give her. I know she is being well looked after which gives me great peace of mind. I am always made welcome when I visit and nothing is too much trouble.

I have one negative and that is if I visit at the weekend it's often a long wait to be let in, but that is a very small negative .

Mother-in-law (MIL) moved to Orchard House in mid-October as she could no longer be provided with sufficient care visits to keep her safe whilst maintaining a decent quality of life in her independent apartment as her dementia was getting worse. My wife and I were very concerned and sceptical at first because MIL has always been a bit of a rebel and used to having things her own way, so we didn't think that she would settle easily. To date we have been proven wrong - and that's all down to the level of welcome, care and support that she has received so far from all the staff. We're incredibly grateful as MIL seems very relaxed, happy and settled, which gives us peace of mind. For one that has always been highly critical of anything that didn't meet her approval she has had nothing bad to say which, again, is testament to the excellent attention, motivation and support that she receives daily. It's still early days, but it couldn't have started much better.

Mum moved into Orchard House in January 2025, where she has received excellent care. The staff are extremely kind and considerate, and resolve any problems that she may have. She also has much more social contact than she had when living in her own house. She now takes meals with others and participates in quizzes and other organised activities. Of particular note is Orchard House staff taking her to participate in the recent Sawston Fun Run, walking her round by wheelchair while she waved at the crowds. She absolutely loved it! The staff also made her recent 90th birthday a great day - decorating her room, making a personalised 90th birthday cake and joining with the family in birthday celebrations. I thoroughly recommend Orchard House.

Mum lived in Orchard House for just over 2 years, sadly passing away in February this year. She received exceptional care and warmth while with you. There is a warm welcoming atmosphere and the whole team is amazing - friendly, approachable and professional. The care staff are attentive and compassionate, always ready to listen and act on any concerns or needs. They knew Mum's needs and preferences and tailored her care accordingly. Mum was fortunate to have one of the larger ensuite rooms with a lovely view of the gardens. In addition to the high-quality care, there is a real sense of community. The activities provided are engaging and varied, offering something for everyone. The food is excellent too - the kitchen staff made a real effort to meet Mum's needs. I would wholeheartedly recommend Orchard House to anyone seeking a safe and caring environment for their loved one.

I found this care home exceptionally good. My mother was in for 14 months, she had the best care in all her needs at the age of 102, she was also partially deaf and blind. The staff were exceptionally good in catering to all her needs medically, keeping her clean. Also food was done to her special needs. I was also happy with the care and needs and I also knew she was in safe hands 24/7 when I left her. I would highly recommend this care home. Right to the end she exceptionally looked after.

In spite of living in an extra care flat with carers on call, my sister was becoming increasingly stressed at coping by herself. After a week's trial in Orchard House, where I saw her smiling for the first time in months, she moved in permanently at the end of October. The care staff have been so kind and caring towards her, she still doesn't smile very much but she says she is so glad that she moved in,

I am glad too. I can only visit her once a week and it is good to know that she is always being looked after. Her room is always cosy and clean, the meals always look and smell delicious and all members of staff (carers, office staff, kitchen staff, housekeeping, even the maintenance man) really care about all the residents and are unfailingly kind, caring and professional.

My mother was admitted with cognitive impairment in July 2024. She settled down very quickly with the aid of the very attentive and caring staff. I have visited on many occasions unexpectedly, to find the care home very clean, smelling fresh and I was always accompanied by a member of the staff who knew my mum well. A verbal progress report has always been given. My last visit I may say, I have not seen my mum look so happy, well-fed, clean, smelling fresh and content. Please put me there if I get dementia!

My father has been here for over 3 years. He is living with dementia and has no idea where he is. I think his health needs are met well. The staff are great with his banter and strange sense of humour - something he has always enjoyed. He says the food is good - he has a cooked breakfast every day (I didn't believe him when he told me but he does!). The relationship between the home and the medical professionals is great. There has not been an activities lead for some time and my father rarely leaves his room - he has never been a joiner in person however I do feel activity for him is a bit lacking. The staff do the best they can with it.

My mother has been a resident for over four years now and her physical well-being has improved greatly from the care she is receiving at Orchard House Residential Care Home although, at 96 years of age, dementia and anxiety affect the way she views her situation. Despite the fact that she can be very difficult at times, the staff have always appeared to be kind and committed in their attitude and to have her best interests at heart. Overall, I have no doubt that she will receive a good standard of care and this gives her family in the outside world a great degree of comfort.
